There is a bigger picture here. The only party that has to protect the integrity of a business, and the vast investment needed to keep the interests of that business intact is the owner. You do not make a successful business and an exit strategy when the time is right to make a vast amount of money on your initial investment by handing the keys to a department head to do what they please and screw it up spectacularly. Seriously, this is a longer term project for the 1 person who is paying the bills to make money. Staff in any business come and go. Especially the ones that publicly put your investment at risk. This isn’t Sunday League playing with a couple of fivers in players subs and sticking by a couple of players and manager that you have every right in selling or sacking at anytime. SR have really dropped the ball on more than one occasion. He is not going to jeopardise multi millions on a manager that has possibly already cost him 200 million or whatever the press come up with this season. As fans, we forget there is a huge financial gamble on every decision for the “Business” which is what Southampton FC is. He will go through another dozen managers before he gets the club to a position that he cashes out.
-
His position is untenable. It’s as simple as that really. Regardless of any thought, loyalty, ability, record, success, whatever. There clearly is one outcome, he has to go for the sake of Southampton FC.
-
Of course he has to go, but along with his line manager and the CEO. Dragan needs to find another Nicola, because at the moment we are Sunday League off the pitch. We lurch from one PR disaster to another since SR took charge. But we all know every club does it, we were stupid enough to get caught. He’s a great manager, but we now need a proven old school takes no prisoners manager. We will need it with the inevitable crap that’s coming are way. Someone that has been around the block a few times, and no not Ben Gardner, or another young coach.
-
I’m sorry but Southampton FC is hardly a worldwide business with offices in every major city on the planet. The chain of command is about 3 people not layers of management as in the corporate world. Of course everyone knew, probably not Dragon because he is so distant from everything connected with football. The lot of them are complicit, and if they are not what the fcuk is going on from a business perspective of running a football club. Would never in a million years would have happened under Marcus, Nicole, and Potts. We are just so unprofessional and like a Sunday League set up behind the scenes.
-
Of course he has to go. Every club does it including Boro. He just got caught.
-
Hull of a beating, you are indeed correct

I’m gonna give up watching a sport that is clearly “fixed”. Arsenal winning the league, Celtic winning the league. It’s obvious the Championship has its promoted teams all lined up .
-
Every club is involved. We are just incompetent sending an intern with a iphone 10. Dragon, use your billions to bankrupt the EFL, and the incompetent so called impartial committee that must have no idea. Just tie the EFL and Independent committee in years of litigation. I happy to transfer Saints to the Serbian League until this mess is sorted, no rules that I can find that gives us the right to withdraw from the EFL and join a different League and Country.
-
It can’t be the Kermit Ben Gardner. Second in charge or coach yes. Manager absolutely not, yes I have seen the complete collapse of a club in his hands. matbe that’s the culture of every club now, even before Leeds. We have so say been unlucky to be caught like Leeds.
-
I am genuine when I ask what advantage do Boro really think we gained. What does the EFL think we genuinely gained. Yes I understand the 72 hours thing, but that tells me that it’s allowed. Boro need to explain why anyone walking their dog can see whats going on. I just dont get what legal challenge is available to Boro. Most importantly what legal defence that the EFL would need to prove for any wrong doing.
-
I get it, and we were very lucky in the first half to not go down at least 3. Keeper, Bree fantastic and did what was required. No way could Boro keep up that first half for 90 mins. Tired them at home, defended unbelievably. The stats said no shots on goal, no passes in the last third. 24% possession. But I’m guessing that was the plan and hit them second half which we did. Yes agree the plan looked crap because our touches were awful, and lost possession and second balls ect ect ect. But it worked, nil nil is a great result taking it back home. We could have done with the plan of a second half goal. Boro will not play like they did 1st half today at ours. They went all out today. They won’t do that again, technically it looks like we are playing the long game to get to Wembley. Yes we looked awful 1st half and got away with it. But stuck to the plan it seems, and didn’t panic, and got the result. IMO obviously.
-
Exactly what some are saying, first half was the game plan. Second half went to plan apart from coming away with a goal or two. Boro 1st half were playing chaotic football that produced some incredible chances, but play like that in the Prem you will get destroyed. We played like we were Prem pedigree. If we go back up, I can’t see us repeating the last time. We on that grown up performance should comfortably stay in the Prem.

City draw was the one. But take the play offs all day long. I’m guessing the bookies will have a Saints v Millwall final. That’s a game.
-
I think it was Shearer that said in commentary that BM of course don’t just have any players. He has been very good, and yes BM I guess know what they are doing.
-
I hope he does really well. Part of a fantastic young grassroots squad that were unbelievable. Most of the half dozen that were picked up still playing at a good level.
