So have we……..
-
On current form I’m more worried about exiting the league the bottom end than the top end.
-
You’re totally missing the obvious. Yes Che missed one chance. But the ridiculous system he’s playing in only created one chance for him. No striker has 100% shooting accuracy. If your “managers” system only creates one chance per game whilst simultaneously offering the opposition countless free shots on your goal… the problem is not the striker.

We sold most of the promotion quality players & spine of the team and appointed a total charlatan. Like everyone else I am speechless with rage. I hate everything about the club at the moment. Driving back stuck in traffic I was wondering why the fuck I bother. They can’t even do the very basics. Naive, clueless, abysmal, pathetic, gutless. For Martin to say there was nothing wrong tactically when he played our best DM at centre half and a midfield 3 of Aribo, adama and smallbone… it’s honestly beyond a joke. He can fuck off and so can the club. Utter fucking cunts. Embarrassing from top to bottom.

Problem is we let our best attacking player go. Tella was our best/most productive attacker and the reason we looked dangerous the first couple of games. I still think it was an awful decision to cash in on him personally. He was so productive and worked very hard defensively. I like Fraser, at least he can actually cross the ball, I think he will come good. Edozie I worry about the physical & defensive side but he’s looked OK going forward so far.
-
Or he could have learned some lessons and we could put in a good performance. Some of the criticism is way OTT already. He’s not even had 10 league games. I think it was an OK press conference. He’s not going anywhere for a while, there’s no way SR will pull the trigger. So may as well back him and be positive for now
-
Don’t get me wrong, I thought it was a huge mistake to begin with. Imo we needed someone more pragmatic and with experience in this league to get us organised again. But now he’s here… surely we can’t sack him already? But tbh if we concede 4 again I don’t see how we can keep persisting with suicide football. Massive conundrum right now that can only be solved by a good performance on Tues
-
I still think it’s too early for a change. He is trying to change the style of play completely and it will have teething problems. He hasn’t had much time with the full squad in training. Sacking the manager means yet another reset, change of playing style and to be honest makes us look like even more like a total basket case to any potential incoming managers & players. Plus as someone pointed out, every appointment that SR make gets worse and worse 😂 But he HAS to make us more solid on Tuesday. If we concede 4+ goals again his position is starting to look more and more untenable as this squad should be doing much better.
-
This infuriated me more than it should. I swear only saints could buy a 6ft 7 target man and try and use him as a defensive pressing forward. We are literally run by muppets. I am so sick of the whole club at the moment. Just do the fucking basics ffs
-
In fairness it has been very few games. I am one that has been defending him because he seems like a great man manager and he managed to stamp some sort of an identity on the team in a very short space of time. I thought the Sunderland game may have just been a blip. But unfortunately it has continued & the last 2 games have been a catastrophe. The team is doing many things that no professional football team should ever do. I genuinely can’t believe how bad we are. The worry comes in his post match comments where he praised the team. That was totally delusional. I don’t know where we go from here. Essentially we have to be more solid on Tuesday. I dont even want to contemplate shipping 4+ goals again.

I am so sorry to read this. Best wishes to you, your wife and your family.

Apologies. I had hit the 3 post limit. Also apologies for calling people wet wipes. I seriously thought that there were promising signs and something to build on. I like Martin and he speaks well. He seemed to assess the issues with our performances correctly and said he would learn. I want to be positive and back him. But yeah you were correct. Last two games have been an absolute catastrophe. I’m basically speechless at how shit we were yesterday. All of the basics of professional football are just gone. So yeah I am genuinely sorry. I still hope he can turn it around and get us playing. But I’ve never seen a more naive and shit defensive performance from a saints side - and that’s an incredible feat
-
No one at this club has any idea what they’re doing. Especially Martin. Tonight was as bad as it gets really. Can’t believe it. Not calling for him to go yet, but. I can’t believe what I’ve seen and heard tonight.
-
Yeah I’ve been very vocal in defending him but this is absolutely horrendous delusion. It’s like he’s watching a different game. We were completely shit. Schooled by Leicester and credit to them. Tonight was as bad as it gets really
-
Really worrying signs. I really like Martin and im not sure how much is his fault but this is horrendous. We’ve been so so poor. Was hoping to see signs of improvement after Sunderland, but this is easily as bad.
-
As much as I disgreed with Mara playing (especially on the wing) I think it’s ok for him to try new things. He hasn’t been here long and needs to see things for himself. Luckily Mara showed him exactly why he never plays very quickly

Flowing red & white passing football. Nimble Adam Armstrong running rings around Vestergaard. A comfortable saints win for Russell Martins barmy army E I E I E I O

“I’d known Gary (Mansell) and he had set up the academy but felt he couldn’t take it much further without some help and support so I was like let’s do that. “It’s something I would have liked in the area when I was young because you either played for Brighton or a grassroots team with no expert coaching in between. “Lots pop up short-term to try and make a bit of money but nothing that cares for the kids, so we started delivering free sessions to a few schools in deprived areas as well. “I was playing at the Premier League at the time and it was a way of giving back, as well as helping a few mates at the time – it helped Serg stay in the game while he did his badges.” The foundation grew quickly from having just 12 kids on its first 'holiday course', with Martin investing with no expectation of getting anything back. Dr Alan Sanders, chief executive, has steered the foundation to offer structured education away from mainstream schools, which Martin recognises is “not for everyone”, delivering at KS2, 3 and 4. They now own a 3G pitch and are taking a run-down facility at Southwick FC to develop another artificial surface and classrooms. Martin, chair of the trustees, doesn’t have day-to-day involvement and insists he can’t take credit other than good people together. His name went on it primarily to get help from the PFA. “Now we provide extra time provision for kids before they reach the end of the line with schools giving up on them,” he continued, with a smile. “The ones they say are struggling, our team will look at them and see how much we can do for them. “There are so many issues at play, not just at school but at home; parents and drug abuse, physical abuse and sexual abuse, some of the stories are horrific. “The impact we can have in three or four months, sometimes longer, to get them back into mainstream schools has been amazing, and how much it’s grown. “The one thing they’re not really doing is telling everyone how great they are! They do so much good work, it’s a team of 30 people, and I want them to take credit for it.” It is interesting and evocative to sit and talk with Martin, both off-record over lunch and in a recorded interview setting. He is a manager who is genuinely attentive and interested. He is someone seemingly aware of opinions about him despite both insistence that he does not consume outside noise and his self-conviction. Martin commands the same respect he bestows on others while simultaneously taking a self-deprecating view of his achievements, particularly regarding his playing career. Given his journey, everyone he has connected with and that bit of doubt that always remains, it will not only be Martin touched if he can celebrate with his family, on the pitch, next May. Quality. I fucking love the bloke.

Absolutely ridiculous comment considering the limited games and the amount of transfers going through. For all you know he will field the same 11 every week for the whole season
-
Been wanting to see what Dunk can offer for a while. He’s been absolutely quality for ages now. Deserved call up and you’re right. He should play for me. It should be stones/dunk with colwill/tomori/guehi as back up.. with Maguire sat at home
-
Yeah you’re right. You’ve given him 5 games and already slating him. You are so calm and reasonable and not a complete wet wipe at all
-
It’s obviously proven. I could name countless times where just changing the keeper has improved teams. The Martinez one above is a prime example. If your ridiculous theory that goalkeepers are only as good as the defence in front of them was true, why would any club buy a goalkeeper? Why not put a youth player in goal? Why spend any money on a goalkeeper at all? …oh yeah. Because goalkeeper is an absolutely vital position that can have a huge impact on any football team.
-
Again, just tripe of a post. Goalkeepers make a huge difference to a defence. Of course it’s a two way street, but they make a huge difference. A weak and uncommanding goalkeeper would make even Man City or Barcelona’s back 4 much worse. As has been proven over and over again.
-
But again it shows there are things going well and there is a platform to build from. It’s not all shite like under previous 3 managers. If he was in his interviews saying “yeah we played fantastic and were really unlucky” I’d be worried too. But he has clearly stated the issues which we can all see and is likely going to work on them. I am shocked at the negativity on here tbh
