  1. I didn’t forget Gillingham. The cup game was him giving fringe players a chance to stake a claim in the team. None of them did. That was good management. He gave the whole squad a chance to prove themselves. It’s not his fault if the players brought in before his tenure are all absolutely shit. With how shit we were do you really expect a manager to come in and win every game? You are completely deluded mate. All reasonable fans are looking for are promising signs and things to build on. And there are PLENTY of those already.
  2. When did Baz last keep a clean sheet? Does anyone remember?
  3. Ok so you’re a real saints fan but just a completely unreasonable one. Makes sense. It’s absolutely outrageous to be saying that martin’s system is no good. He’s had 5 - FIVE - games with a constantly changing line up due to transfers in & out. And we looked good in 4 of them! I think it’s remarkable that he’s already stamped a new style on the team in such a short time - something our previous managers failed to do. If we lose the next ten games then you may have a point. But why don’t you wait and see what happens FFS
  4. Exactly this, couldn’t have put it any better. He has already shown enough positives that he deserves time. This isn’t a NJ situation where you can instantly tell he’s a shocking fit. This is a guy that has a huge job on his hands trying to turn around a sinking ship. I believe he has what it takes based on the current evidence. I admit - he wasn’t my first choice. I would have preferred more experience and record of championship promotions. But since he’s been here he has been really impressive in my opinion and l can see it being a great appointment. Or maybe it won’t work out. But he certainly needs more time and support right now.
  5. I still feel that Carrillo is much worse than Paul. He had more chances and spurned them (at least in my head) Tall Paul could genuinely be an elite finisher.. but we will never know as we never put any crosses in to him. (I remember one to his head against west ham which he nearly did really well with.) One player leaving that I genuinely wish well as I don’t feel he was treated well by the club at all.
  6. This an absolute shambles of a post 😂 Martinez is easily one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He instantly improved villa’s backline when he went there by being aggressive and commanding so you’re literally undermining your own point
  7. What an absolute embarrassment of a post and I am fairly sure you aren’t a real saints fan.
  8. He’s been a huge breath of fresh air since he arrived. The big thing for me is that his post match interviews align with what we can all see. This is quite rare. He clearly knows the defence isn’t good enough and that the passing is too slow, and accepting responsibility to change it. Makes a huge difference from the naive ignorance of Selles and the bullshit from NJ. All we can do is trust the process at this point
  9. Honestly, of all the batshit crazy decisions in the last few years this is one of the craziest. Shows the club had completely lost its way and was unable to spot talent or manage the squad correctly Think it’s a toss up between this, signing Tall Paul and appointing Nathan Jones for the title.
  10. Agree with your line up. We need to stick with a starting 11 and let them learn to play together. Sick of all the chopping and changing. In previous seasons when we have been our best, the line up basically picks itself. I think we have a clear best 9 or 10 at least. Would love to see RM pick them and stop messing about.
  11. Just seen on Twitter that he’s statistically second worst this season so far for expected shots conceded. At least that’s an improvement from last season I guess
  12. Yeah you can carry a couple of passengers in the championship defensively and still be a good team. (Danny Fox springs to mind). But that’s only if the spine of the team is great. When 3 of your back 5 are horrific and one of the others is Bednarek, and your manager leaves the DM out… what hope do you have? Feel sorry for Bazunu. He’s so young and I really want it to work. But I honestly cannot understand the club backing him to this insane level
  13. Once again we are in the position where we only have one 19 year old Defensive Midfielder to rely on. I agree he’s a good player, but Martin needs to fix the system so that the midfield are actually present. That was some of the worst team defending I have ever seen yesterday. For all the talk of the team being unsettled etc., Sunderland went through exactly the same and also have a load of injuries. Did we see any of their players mincing about? No. They got stuck in and took it to us. Maybe we appointed the wrong Mowbray
  14. I won’t write him off after one game. Luckily, we saw a load of him as he was in the PL last year. So based on more than just this one game, he is utter shite and not worth playing ever again
  15. Can’t make a save, and when he does he parries it straight to the middle of the box to a waiting striker. I can’t believe we are persisting with him. Suicide
  16. Im on holiday with the time difference so missed all the deadline day “excitement” Waking up to see we kept KWP and signed a striker.. quality work saints. E I E I E I O
  17. Should be a piece of piss, all of their players will be playing for us instead. Another routine victory for Russell Martin’s barmy army E I E I E I O
  18. Double post
  19. But on the other hand… He’s also cack.
  20. Our options would genuinely be better than last year when we were still in the PL if we pulled that off 😂
  21. Agree, I’m genuinely amazed he’s still here. Had him down to go in the JWP/Lavia bracket as a first choice for another PL club. He is very obviously much too good for the championship
  22. Seems weird we won’t just go and pay the 15mil. Especially as the Wood bids were rejected. Seems a much better option at that price
  23. Premier league player in the championship. Oozes PL class. Insanely good signing. Reminds me of Schneiderlin
  24. Good thing is, that means he is here to play. Could have easily sat on the bench collecting his wages. But instead he has chosen to come here and challenge himself. Can only respect that. And if he keeps putting in performances like Saturday’s, he will become an instant favourite here. He was class
  25. The game has changed massively now to be honest. Any promoted club needs to immediately rebuild and spend a shit load of money as the gap is so big. The fact we look like prime Barcelona against these championship teams says it all. There is a huge gap now.
