Q: What sort of impression did you get from the manager? "I think he is a handsome guy, you know? He has a good beard and long hair. I want to be like him after the football career. I want to get some beard! But he's a very good guy. He's very kind and he told me about football things and life in Southampton. I have a good feeling with him and I can't wait to work with him."

Just watched, definitely agree. Seems like a character and could be a bit of a cult hero if he’s decent

The Athletic as a whole has gone downhill since the NYT acquired it (shock, I know) Used to love it for the way I could just read some really good, in-depth content of Saints and the teams I follow across US sports, with coverage of the wider league matters all in the same place and in a writing style I appreciated and felt was quite informative and well-pitched. But it's now so, so much worse. Only stuck with it because I went to cancel my subscription and they gave me a £1 a month renewal for the next year

Exactly, people get so overly emotional. This stuff doesn't get in the public domain without people wanting it there. It's not a sting operation or an exposé

Not even at the first friendly of preseason, which is only an XI game against Eastleigh, in fairness - it is a bit much

Yep, as if we haven't signed more players than most teams in the league. Yes, still plenty to do and we've signed more squad fillers than starters so far, but it's a good start and we're ahead of where we'd ordinarily be

Newcastle Chronicle's chief NUFC writer says Ryan Fraser has agreed terms with Saints, it's just down to Newcastle and Fraser to come to a settlement but the deal is otherwise 'imminent'

Can't say I am too gutted. The cynic in me wonders if Sao Paulo are the ones who have been feeding the press re: Saints to smoke Torino out
-
Something other than the personal terms, presumably

Translation: The @SouthamptonFC has already had the medical examinations carried out by #Welington of the @SaoPauloFC. But the @TorinoFC_1906 still hopes to prevail
