  1. My father-in-law had to work for them and said it was much better working as a manager for Carrefour.
  2. That’s 11, and Rupert fucked up Southampton Football Club even more than Sports Republic has (yet). 12 then.
  3. Vote Leave had some real class acts in it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c07z0r37n0do
  4. There’s still some way to go but the omens are not positive at all. The mid-terms happening freely and fairly in Nov 2026 are the acid test for me. If not, Americans are going to have to go to civil war with the GOP. A tanked economy might be a driver. What I suspect might happen is that some of the movers and shakers behind the Lincoln Project might be joined by GOP alumunus and corporate backers outside of Trump and the Demi’s circles to form a shadow pro-business, centre right party which can build in parallel and replace MAGA over time. GOP might end up like the BNP and National Front in this country as a defunct party, but probably a white supremacist sect rather than de-registered.
  5. America is on the precipice here as a democratic nation. It’s a serious doubt whether they can make it to the mid-terms with that status intact, if those elections don’t happen we are looking at the country breaking up.
  6. That is absolutely vile. Of all things they’ve done since January, that ethically, morally, on a pure human being level is the most disgusting. Pure white supremacy, anyone from a minority who voted for this should make an apology to Charles C Rogers’s family and a donation for a memorial wherever he lived. That’s the sort of behaviour the KKK are known for.
  7. Re Lewis Payne, he did have some good games at my local EFL club Cheltenham Town, and the odd bad one. They are mid-table League 2. Could be a back-up next season unlikely to be a Champ regular from what I’ve seen yet. So to pitch him into the PL as a starter with Saints heading for the worst season in top flight history - that’s even worse than Lowe’s madness of 08/09 in a division lower. Understand the frustrations with the current Ankerson and Russell Martin acquired 🗑️ and will be delighted to see most of those names gone but in terms of the Man U comparison, this isn’t a Saints Academy Moran/Wallace, MLT/Shearer/Maddison, Bale/Walcott/Lallana or Shaw/JWP/Chambers/Reed crop.
  8. Honest thoughts on Southampton Football Club? Pull the shutters down until August, send everyone their 3 points in the post. Spors will need to be absolutely ruthless to get anywhere near sorting this out. The opposite of last summer basically and then another 350% more.
  9. A couple of fan videos here which sum up the madness and if the formation and line up don’t make any sense pre-match why on earth was it ever going to work in practice? Hats off to those who keep turning up. Might as well put these fellas in charge, nobody inside the club has the first clue about the sport. Fans so much more clued in than anyone at the club and SR, albeit that’s a very low threshold.
  10. This is the reality. The only caveat I’ll add is that in the same way Jim Ratcliffe was saying if it turns really toxic he won’t expose his family to it at Man U, that if our fanbase regain their courage (can’t criticise the numbers or loyalty whatsoever) and go for SR like they did Lowe, I think they won’t like that and sell. Hopefully Spors swipes Rasmus out of SFC picture completely and finally some of the right calls are made on management, brand new scouting team, spine of quick, strong players are recruited through the spine, so this theory isn’t tested.
  11. My take based on article is that there was a spike leading to up UK financial year end.
  12. Common sense eventually prevailing. Home Office policy needs updating and to be made more proportionate https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c74k7my94m3o
  13. Brilliant post ☝️ The club has been full of bullshit since Reed grabbed the reins post-Koeman. Marketing bollocks replacing substance. No more straplines, philosophies. Just a focus on the title next season and whatever it takes on spending on a new squad, that is what SR must do. How to secure the 3 points each game is primacy. Spine of athleticism and strength with a brand new goalkeeper.
  14. I don’t usually like posting articles from Guardian/Observer as it’s an inverse Daily Mail but this has it spot on https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/mar/15/honeymoon-is-over-trump-ukraine-war-tariffs
  15. It truly is becoming a fascist as well as racist country, the Israel fig leaf to attempt to disguise that fact doesn’t wash either.
  16. Just watched England’s superb win in Cardiff. Wales are the Southampton Football Club 2024-25 of international rugby union but got brutally steamrollered by a fast, strong, athletic English outfit on the rise. Sell Dibling and Fernandes, although that’s a pity, Ramsdale and then sell the shithouses who have a market like THB, BBD to the Blades. Shift anything else that has a buyer eg Aribo, Sulemana and start again with a strong new goalkeeper, none of this ‘the club rates Bazanu nonsense’, and pace/physical strength throughout the spine. Add in Edwards and Charles, AA can stay if he wants, but start again with everything else. New post-football careers for Stewart and Larios. If a player we are considering buying can’t make a major contribution next season to winning the league with 100 points and 50+ GD, they aren’t good enough and need to pay more.
  17. Came back to the club and probably earns the club £40m+ in the summer, Tyler ain’t a problem.
  18. We’ve had a go (half-hearted) at the managers, even more lightly at the owners, time for the players to get what they deserve. Not spiteful or violent eg coins or objects, but ‘you’re not fit to wear the shirt’, ironic oles, sarcastic cheers when defenders clear the ball, ‘we’ve had a shot’ when we actually do have one on goal. ‘Worst in our history, you are worst in our history’ would even sting this bunch of useless mercenaries. Take a pop at their lack of ability - ‘if Taylor can play for Saints, so can I’.
  19. More like a shit Status Quo tribute act you’d have seen in the former London Arms in Woolston.
  20. Watch out, the MLG spelling 👮 will be round to see you
  21. Dowie wasn’t that bad technically, just zero pace. The ‘Deadly Dixon, Donkey Dowie’ chants soon switched around…
  22. Today it could be Saints and the equally dismal Welsh rugby side causing big upsets and getting against the odds wins. Saints to avoid Derby’s record, the Welsh to dodge the Six Nations wooden spoon and 15 straight defeats.
  23. Collided with the goalpost scoring v West Ham as well didn’t he?
  24. The opening section with Steve Mills on the pitch, with Keegan, Bally and Channon and receiving the ovation is really emotional seeing it back, and as an adult a few years older than my Dad was with me on the Milton that night I now fully comprehend why it was for him and so many around us in the crowd that night. Having had family members survive it, lost and currently losing them to it. That must have been a fantastic last memory with Saints and football for him, God bless him.
  25. I’ll go for Moran as first choice - justification is that iconic goal at the stinkhole in 1984 plus the late winner at Anfield when no-one won there - with Steve Williams a close second. Went to Steve Mills’s testimonial 1988 https://saintsarchive.com/2022/05/09/steve-mills-testimonial-charity-benefit-match-southampton-28-03-1988/, but before my time as a player, more my Dad’s generation. Heard he was a very promising prospect who was in a car accident and then got cancer very young, poor bloke.
