  1. Ipswich seem to be splashing the cash and are linked to more. I suppose they're not subject to the same financial restrictions we seem to have.
  2. I'm not sure there is an ironclad correlation between age and non-use of technology. I'm 75 and my whole world is on my iPhone, it's made my life so much easier. Why scrabble around among the fluff and detritus in your pockets looking for a bent up piece of card or a deformed piece of plastic when all you need is your phone? Bring it on I say. Obviously most of my friends are all of a certain age and I'm sorry to say that with a lot of them it's not case of they can't embrace technology it's just that they're too lazy to. 'It's how I've always done it' does not necessarily mean that's the best way.... but each to their own I suppose.
  3. As always diametrically opposed other opinions are available….
  4. As alluded to in some of the posts above to me also it almost feels like we're planning for the season after this and relegation. The players we've signed so far seem like they would do a good job for us in the championship but I can't see them setting the Premier League on fire.
  5. I can't work out whether it's ominous or not how quiet it seems to have gone on Downes. Given how important to the team he was last season I would've thought that heaven and earth would have been moved to get him on the books asap.
  6. Can anybody enlighten me with perhaps a degree of certainty, given how much we got for going up, given FFP, how much exactly we have got to spend this transfer window? I keep reading assertations that we've got nothing thanks to FFP, then we're linked with players for a few million, does anybody actually know what the figure, if anything, is?
  7. No, but I don't expect him to keep playing him game after game when he patently is not good enough. I've seen various gks come and go since the days of Bob Charles, and in terms of shot stopping, dealing with crosses etc. GB has to be up there with the worst we've ever had.
  8. His judgement is poor in the fact he rates Bazunu, nothing to do with whether he worked with him previously or not .
  9. Really? He rates Bazunu and Manning so I’m not sure I do trust his judgement.
  10. Istr that exactly what was touted about VAR when it was introduced. This of course is before the degree of pedantry which makes even the most officious H&S inspector look like a wild child was introduced. I was so pumped up to see us get promoted, I hope I don’t start wishing for the good ole pre VAR championship days before the upcoming season is out. It’s a pure joy hoover.
  11. And to add insult to injury having the decisions explained by an American woman to a Premier League manager and two top ex footballers. It's bollocks.... I can see me getting very irate next season.
  12. People rattle on about top keepers blah blah, but all keepers have one thing in common, they have a mistake in them.Witness Allison and Edison, probably about the best there is,but look at the mistakes they make here and there. Actually, top keepers do usually have another thing in common, they have a top defence in front of them. We don't have that so I would hazard a guess that if by some magic we could have either of the aforementioned keepers then our goals against wouldn't be so very different than having AM in goal. For me he is a competent shot stopper and seems okay on crosses, and for a club of our standing at the moment I think that's going to have to do.
  13. Much as I enjoyed watching Downes play last season he is an unknown quantity at PL level. nobody can say for certain that he will be able to effectively make the step up. KWP has Premier League experience, and played well at that level. So if this deal does materialise imo it is a massive gamble by Saints, KWP would be exactly the type of player we need to keep even at the cost of a massive hike in contract. But, as I said, that is just my opinion.
  14. here's another rumour for the mill .. https://x.com/JustSaints_/status/1806625038918980038
  15. Now for yet another elephant in the room...buzz seems to getting stronger regarding Ings in for 5m. Or, of course, could be just those around West Ham playing it up hoping it might come true Hmmmm...
  16. Surely to become an extremely good goalkeeper you have to have some basic skills like being able to stop shots, deal with crosses etc. Didn't see much of that from him last season, you can be Messi like with your dribbling skills in the penalty area but unless you can stop a few shots here and there you are never going to make any sort of gk.
  17. He is a creative player with flair, just the sort that RM doesn't like.
  18. This is Levy we’re dealing with….probably end up paying Spurs £30m to take him off our hands.
  19. That's the good news... bad news is we've probably got to take Ings for 20 mil as well.
  20. Fingers crossed https://www.claretandhugh.info/lopetegui-signs-off-on-west-ham-transfer/
  21. Are all these young players being talked about with one eye on developing in the championship season after next? Because surely they're not gonna be what we need to help us stay up in the PL
  22. .... and not play Bazunu in goal
  23. In my world not so bad... Last season promotion .£140million Next season relegation £60m? parachute payment Season 3 promotion lots more £m and fun And so on....😂😂😂
  24. Shoe in for Saudi?
  25. I still don't get this. Dragon what's his name stated the other day that if we avoid relegation it's worth up to £305,000,000. Still don't understand how we're broke.
