  1. Quite. With regard to the level of some of the comments and insults on here, as an old man I'm quite grateful for them as it brings back memories of my time in the primary school playground.
  2. Um, didn't we get relegated with those players or did I dream that?
  3. We all want the best players possible for us, but is there an elephant lurking in the room... how much can we afford to pay in wages? I sort of get the impression that we won't be/can't be among the better payers in the league So does that mean we will only be able to attract young or journeyman players?
  4. exactly. Looking at my crystal ball we won't exactly be lighting up the Premier League next season so possibly our expectations in the calibre of player we will be signing would be commensurate with this. We are definitely not going to get the best signing for us, I suppose it's how far down the quality scale we go to persuade players to actually come here.
  5. BOGOF with Downes....
  6. Yep, this.
  7. Yep.
  8. I'd much prefer him to come back to St. Marys....
  9. We can only dream...
  10. I'm really ignorant about these things but I'm sure the chairman said that if they can avoid relegation then promotion is worth up to £305 million. So how can we not have enough cash, are we up to our ears in debt or something?
  11. He'll fit in well
  12. I like that! Definitely going to add that to the put down repertoire.
  13. What is the point of all this raking over old dead leaves? I would've thought that what matters now is what's good for the club moving forward.
  14. On the pitch at any given moment last season there were 11 reasons we got relegated.....
  15. Mine works out at just under £29 per match. I like a moan but tbh can’t really complain about that for PL football.
  16. When it all boils down to it all footballers are mercenaries. End of.
  17. Did you ever see him play? One of the best players I've ever seen play. for the club
  18. Ah, so we don't want to sign good footballers, just human beings with perceived class? Guess we won't be in the PL for very long then...
  19. I think I would be in favour of this. I've always thought that there is no substitute for experience and that somebody of his standing in the game would have a lot to pass on to the younger players, I think that players like Charles would pick up a lot from being around him.
  20. This^^^^^. Nail,head.
  21. Most of which seems to be coming from you… Like it or not atm AM is the sort of keeper that GB can only aspire to be. Commanding on crosses, good shot stopper, good distribution in the slightly altered style we’re now playing at the back. Whether or not GB will make it as a top class keeper is definitely open to debate. Still young, I get that, but he definitely has glaring weaknesses which I feel sure will cost us dearly when up against the sort of players he would face if selected to play in the PL.
  22. Totally understand this point of view. I've really enjoyed the championship this season, probably helped by the fact that we've done well. However I understand from the clubs point of view it is imperative that we get promotion so mixed emotions here.
  23. Just read an article that according to the Bournemouth manager David Brooks will definitely be going back there next season come what may, I started to wonder what the loanee situation was down at St Mary's, I have to admit I've lost track of it all. so who might be coming back, and who might be returning to their parent clubs? I guess Downes is top of the list, the new manager at West Ham will at least want to take a look at him, but apart from him I'm not sure what's what?
