  1. I only have one concern here. Nicola Cortese has always claimed that he wants Saints to be a self sustaining going concern. If this is about investment funds to push forward then that statement is somewhat redundant. Cortese has always been ambitious, he wants success, a raised profile for Southampton... and therefore his reputation being viewed in glowing terms. He needs money to do it and we havn't got the funds ourselves. Equally Markus' estate now see us as an asset and may be looking for control, when things are going well people will come out of the woodwork and want to be a part of things.... where were they directly after Markus' death? This is a game. Sit back and try to enjoy the view. At least the family do not want to sell us on this basis.
  2. From a fellow city resident, I wish you luck. What has happened to Coventry City FC is a total disgrace.
  3. He needs money for his ambitions. The family do not wish to fully meet the sums....
  4. It would be a disaster if he went. Never dull being a Saints fan!
  5. I see no issue with this....
  6. Fo-real!! Common in ti-fo's yo!!!
  7. You obviously don't remember the Walsall game where we used them then.......
  8. No, there was a thread on here before the game where those travelling contacted each other and sent PM's to introduce themselves ahead of it. Met a couple of other forum members too, was a good evening all in.
  9. Are they learning? The early signs are no....
  10. Sir, I salute you. Get yourself a drink....
  11. He was excellent v Kettering in a pre-season game two summers ago, where Paul Ifil played for the home team. (Met Dune at that game, not what I would otherwise have expected....) He isn't the youngest now (20)... Would love to see him break through but I fear his chance has passed, has now broken into the Wales u21's mind. Maybe a chance off the bench v Stoke?

    Come on Wigan!

This is true. I don't fancy our chances in the scrumage. The weight of their pack against our nippers? Looks like we are in for it....
  13. Ebay and Alcohol has resulted in a few randoms. Imagine my surprise when a Skate beany baby turned up one morning. On bonfire night it made an excellent guy.
  14. Oh get a beer and start dancing you silly Bear
  15. It would need a thirteen goal swing at home to Stoke (0-13) AND Wigan winning Twice AND Villa not losing by more then one goal at home to Wigan AND Fulham and Sunderland also winning. #Safe

    Lambert

How about Rickie on indirect free-kicks/corners? Best dead-ball player we have, and thanks to his reputation he is marked out on most of the ones we have currently (not that the deliveries are good enough to find him.....)

    Come on Wigan!

The swing required to see us down if Wigan win twice is so improbable that I will happily sing Danny Boy, naked, in the centre circle at half time in our first game next season (probably v Brighton knowing my luck....) if it comes to pass. Stoke play very crude Rugby-esque football, but 0-13 is not going to happen. For what it's worth, I want Wigan to survive.
  18. Havn't heard that for a while! ha!
  19. Close the door on your way out.

    Lambert

Not his finest, but given that he was dealing with being man marked by two very physical centre backs and had very poor service this isn't surprising. He gave his all and played a part in a valuable point.
  21. It's fair comment... No offence was intended and I appologise if it was taken by anyone. The problem is, the two main culprits do not attack anyone, therefore a banning is unlikely, but they utterly annoy by stating their own feelings as fact and get irate responses from it. This just feeds them and provides a vicious spiral of reprisal and response. The ignore function only serves to do so much when they post so much and get quoted. They are trolls (Operating by expressing an extreme viewpoint with the sole aim of getting a response is trolling....), but tread a fine line that operates within the forum rules. Therefore it needs personal restraint to avoid fueling them further..... owing to the nature of the forum (it's football.... the most emotional of past-times) this is essentially impossible.
  22. It wouldn't be an entirely unpopular move. Just saying.
  23. Finite resources and many players being recommended? Information is power, but it needs to be used the right way.

    Lambert

Lambert seems to have been isolated a lot by opposing defenses in recent games. He is our dangerman, our hold up player. Not just a striker but he brings others into the game and makes the entire attack tick. It has served to give Jay Rodriguez and others extra room going forward if the opposition switch off but due to the quality of opposition we play this isn't faultless. Take today. Lambert had very little clear chances but still managed to get a shot away and be a general nuisance. He is not indespensable, and I believe that tactically dropping him at times can have merit (West Ham away for instance, ok we were hammered but looked far more dangerous in the first half before utterly imploding in the second.) but he offers so much that it is a hard sell. If we can bring in some genuine playmakers who can sit behind the strikers/forwards then yes, his place will be under threat (The player I believe Ramirez can develop into....) but having a link player as high up the pitch as Rickie arguably will be the best thing for Poch's playing style. Press high, have the creativity high. Bring in a better quality of player and our dependence on him will lessen.
