  1. Discounting Bale, Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain who could walk into nearly any top flight side in the world. Based on how we play, Nathan Dyer would be a great re-addition. I don't think Baird would offer anything different.
  2. Yep, I'm sure it wouldn't matter how nice someone was if we were sliding down the leagues. They would still be getting pelters!
  3. Frankly, the whole Cortese/Le Tissier thing no longer interests me. It's obviously a severe personality clash and that in itself is nothing to do with how the club is run, it would be great to have something of an entente cordiale but I can now accept it's not going to happen. Time to move on, nothing to see here anymore. The interview was interesting though, was good to actually hear his perspective for a change and it reaffirms my feeling that there is always a reason for the things Cortese does. Fingers crossed the club continues to grow from them.
  4. On that basis it would appear that Harry did a 'Mansfield away' on you. Play the second string and use a poor performance to try and prompt/frighten the chairman into allowing him to bring in new players. He tried it with Rupert Lowe by fielding the kids in the league cup up at Mansfield, they lost but Lowe wouldn't give in to him. Within a couple of months he was back at the Skates.
  5. Can understand why some may feel its harsh, at least the club is consistent in it's approach. No freebies, no scope for potential abuse of privilege.
  6. Independent but nationally affiliated journalist.
  7. No idea. Looked ok in that friendly. Andreas Jakobsson was no better.
  8. With respect to Simon, maybe it's better he talk to people without a certain preconception. He will be damned if he does, damned if he doesn't right now. Any public interview will be a reaction to recent events, no wonder he will be picky in terms of the outlet.
  9. Be honest, who had forgotten about Chris Perry?
  10. He went downhill quickly. Played for Kettering against our youth team a year and a half ago in a pre-season friendly. Was entirely ordinary. Too much too young.... again.
  11. It was always a rather gross assumption. As proven on here twitter is 99.9% b*llocks.
  12. On the assumption this is true.... I'd take him!
  13. One way or another back in Hampshire.
  14. Yep, that would do me.
  15. Deported in 12 months time during the second Falkland's War? Hey, we'll never know so hopefully he'll win us our first league title! Why not.
  16. Brilliant. An unwanted record now taken from my home city. Now come on Hartlepool!!
  17. Bottom of the table Hartlepool beating them 2-0 at Fratton Park. Even a draw would be an embarrassment to them.
  18. Now, that IS significant, a chance for the first non league side to beat someone from the top flight since 1989. (Sutton United beating Coventry.)
  19. Well, maybe a bit weaker up front.... But behind that not second choice. 01 Green 03 Traore 05 Ferdinand 20 Fabio Booked 21 Ben-Haim 07 Park Ji-sung (Zamora - 67' ) 14 Granero 32 Faurlin Booked 12 Mackie 37 Bothroyd 39 Campbell
  20. The does make me smile.
  21. True. However, with the ages of the players we have I would expect one or two to leave and be sold on one way or another. That should offset things a bit, assuming we stay up of course.
  22. Stoke above Villa. Ouch. Puts our spending into context.
  23. Looking forward to this one. Staying the friday night at 'The Crown at Worthington,' near Standish, just north of Wigan. Great inn and real ale pub. Only 40 quid or so a night as well! No idea of Pubs close to the DW Mind.....
  24. Butterfield and Forte
  25. Sorry, my sarcasm was a bit vague. These rumours are entirely forum generated i'm afraid. As the above link will show. Twitter and social media simply cannot be trusted, there are too many people wanting to make a name for themselves.... and lazier aspects of the media prey on it.
