The money from the catering alone is not going to pay the bills. The club has unsuccessfully operated on sponsorship/merchandise/TV only income for the past 18 months, the area that gave-way was their rent. Their accumulated debt over that time, rather then 1.5 million would have been approx 600k instead on the basis of the new deal, the negotiations are as good as irrelevant when the loses are still crippling. Their fanbase is dwindling, they are unwilling to support a regime that is killing their team. Their income will only reduce as they stagnate further. Coventry City FC is a dead duck.

The article implies that the club knows not all season ticket holders would make the trip to Irthlingborough for home games, they have about 7,000 I believe and so it wouldn't work unless there is a large degree of drop out. On the basis that they already owe over a season's worth of rent the deal being offered is almost irrelevant. Coventry City FC is unsustainable at the moment regardless of stadium terms, the club is inherently insolvent. The City Council will not relinquish control of the stadium to a hedge fund as they know it would be asset stripped and SISU have made it clear that they will under no circumstances sell the club as it's progress up the leagues/selling on of local talent (such as Gael Birgirimana) is their only hope in getting their stake back. Something has to fold, and it won't be local government.

Yes, his versatility is a key part of his appeal. Unfortunately he has a habit of being frighteningly inconsistent. Thankfully it was Guly at his best yesterday. For the impact he had he would have been good value for a goal but sadly his shot was straight at Federici. Just before the substitution my friend and I were discussing how impressed we had been with Rodriguez, his movement and work rate had kept Reading more then occupied, that Guly could more then match up to that was a great relief.

He played well when he came on but we were all surprised/disappointed that he came on in the first place. Booing though? What idiots.

A couple of the lads I used to coach are now referees. One of the key things for them as youngsters was that they were getting paid a decent amount for taking part in games they loved even at Sunday league level. (30 quid to the ref for one game, cash in hand. Two games is easily do-able on a Sunday, so 360 quid a month cash in hand per month.) But after that novely had passed they keep going, they love the game, enjoy being a part of it and there is a certain kick in being part of the system that allows football to happen. The lads in question are not egotists, they do not want to be the centre of attention but it allows them to be a part of football, beyond the level they could have reached playing. They want to be fair and even handed and love it when they fade into the background when the football leads the way.

There are some good pubs in Erdington, if you remember the name Holyhead it must be from the pub itself.

Yes, my home City is truly beautiful! If you were appraising solely on recent attendances you will have a point in terms of club size and comparison between us. You said it yourself though, the Ricoh Arena is hopelessly adrift from the city, walk up is near impossible for many, it's killed the desire for many to go, as has a decade of stagnation. The extended spell in the top flight, the sole cup win, the raw size of the conurbation itself. Coventry and Saints are in many ways peas in a pod. Could never understand them moving out of Highfield Road, unless their debt was that horrific that it would have been new stadium or bust. The irony is of course very apparent.

The only goal against us i've every come close to applauding at the moment it was struck was Rochdale's second in their win at St Mary's. A beautifully hit goal, the win was fully deserved for the underdog. I was gutted but could appreciate what they had just achieved, one of the few (the only?) sides to do the double over us on our promotion year.
