The ex-employee staging it is the more likely scenario, as it would come back to Boro eventually otherwise. All seems incredibly unlikely but the Linkedin thing is weird unless the ex-employee found out immediately and deleted their profile to avoid being wrongly accused in the press (although you'd think Linkedin would show them as no longer employed by us anyway).
