I think you have to be careful for villainry when someone suddenly gets a beard / unexpected facial hair.

I gave short shrift to the Pixies at the time, largely on account of being a metalhead which can be a bit exclusive in the early years. This is a great song, Doolittle a great album - some other stone cold classics on that one too. Think I like "Hey" the best.

Saints make 8 million bid for Athletico's Adrian Lopez

Piece on him here in relation to a possible Arsenal move back in Jan:- http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1469615-arsenal-transfer-news-gunners-should-avoid-adrian-lopez-transfer -
No history is being airbrushed. Nige did a great job in achieving back to back promotions, especially the storming start to the beginning of last season. He really had no fear of any team in the Championship, and it showed. We were mullering fancied teams left, right and centre. I don't agree that he was treated appallingly. He knew he was going at the end of last season. As things went, he got half a season to strut his stuff in the Premiership, which is more than enough time. If he'd have repeated the barnstorming heroics of the Championship season, he'd still be here and this debate wouldn't exist. It didn't happen, and for a long time, didn't look like it was going to happen. The decision to shift Nige off his managerial coil was taken during our patch of bad form. So yeah, the timing sucked with the turnaround in run in form, but NC might not have felt that this was sustainable (remember the 0-1 robbery at Villa Park?). As for the upgrade status, it's bound to be a matter of opinion. I think MP will turn into a better Premier Manager than Adkins, largely because he had what NA had last year; no fear of the opposition. FWIW, I think NA will get over that. He went straight back down with S****horpe, went back up. Our race into 2nd place at the end of League One was immense, especially with Huddersfield breathing down our necks, but NA kept them at bay. MP seems to have a better footballing philosophy which is gaining us a lot of respect. I listen to a lot of football podcasts. Many of them had us marked as doomed at the start of the season. Now they're saying we're too good to go down. NA is undoubtedly a master of promotions. The next time he brings a team up, and I'm sure it'll be soon, he'll fare better. Wasn't to be this time around. Combination of uncertainty in himself, uncertainty over his situation, the usual media rabble about the short life expectancy of new Premier League managers - but mostly Brian, it was results.

Nah, the boys are poking St. Bangkok. Got a bit murky, tbh.

I will miss all you miscreants when you get banned. Mind you, I think the Ugly Inside could do with your collective levity at the moment. Bit dark atm, even for there.

I'm indifferent to Olly Murs, but never liked Patrick Kielty. Not funny, loves himself a bit too much, has the look of vermin about him.
-
I think that's accurate. I know it though. It's worse when people aren't self-aware.

Sniff. I'm never included on any of these poster lists

Nah, no votes are required to make it to the judges houses. It's afterward that public opinion comes into play, and only kids or morons get to decide that. Some undoubtedly with fat fingers!

I never called for Nigel's head, but didn't lose mine for long when he was sacked. All credit to Nige for getting us up the divisions in such a swift manner. Clearly the man for the job at that time. I was never sure of him in the Premier League, and with hindsight being what it is, there were some odd decisions in retrospect. As I've often said before, imagine if "interview Nige" is actually "24/7 Nige". It'd get on your teats after a time. A combination of diminishing returns and far too much respect for the big boys did for him. Pochettino = definite upgrade.

You've just got a visit from me. Looking at the numbers, I don't think it's a popularity contest at all. I've got over twice as many views as you and over twice as many profile visits. It's just people with fat fingers, those living near tectonic fault lines or pets walking across unattended tablet devices pressing the poster name instead of the post

Sorry Alps, must have missed the part where I said that Brittanic was based in Southampton. What are you responding to, exactly?
-
Yeah, I've been told that by loads of people. Looking forward to it

It's very good, although I can see how you'd get that impression from jumping into one episode. There's a school of thought that says you gotta have quiet for loud to be effective. The show is glacial at times, particularly in the first season and I fell out with the show at precisely the point you jumped in. However, picked it up again and block-watched it just in time for the start of S3. I think it's probably better watched that way. On the performances; yep there is some whiny stuff, and a lot of fans took a particular dislike to Lori, Rick's wife - who nags for yonks. That said, annoying characters aren't necessarily around forever. Thing about the Walking Dead is despite the title, the zombies are probably the least dangerous thing in it. Other people are the real danger, which is probs why the show spends so much time focusing on them.

Spoilers, Bear! That was supposed to be next week's thread

It seems like a fairly unanimous reaction from the board. The only real difference in opinion is the severity of the punishment.

I personally have squandered so much money on heat, light, food, shelter and clothing

Also, I'm a relatively young man with a relatively old children ( I'm 37, youngest is 14 this year ). Hopefully, it'll be decades before I pop my clogs, yet the kids are going to be adults in less than 5 years.

He's claiming he's always loved both teams, and it's "just this amazing situation where both teams have ended up in the same league". I remember asking him why he didn't support the Swans back in the day. He said "'cos they're f**king s**t!"
-
Yeah, that's me out, I'm afraid. How does one overcome not having loaded parents? Seems a bit unfair to me. I've had to work all my life. Dad, you're a f**king idiot for not being born rich. Shame on you

I've got a mate, former colleague that I met in Liverpool in 2003. Opinionated Welsh gobsh!te. We get on well. Anyway, this bloke is a Liverpool supporter and tells the usual glory hunter tale of having a granddad who supported the team. His local team is Swansea. Anyways, when Swansea won the League Cup he starts giving it large on Facebook about their success. My contention is that after a decade of giving it large about another team (typical LFC have a go at every other team fan), he can't very well start bigging up his hometown team as soon as they get a sniff of success. What do the Footy Police reckon here? Have I got him bang to rights?

Doesn't that only really work if your parents have got a pot to p!ss in?

I think it's a grade point average thing. You might think you're being out of order, but there is someone elsewhere on the site, possibly me, being an absolute f**king numpty. I took the liberty of censoring your swear-words. You might want to fly tight and loose with the rules, but I'm trying to keep on the straight and narra - especially as I suspect that 90% of my post content is pointless or sarcastic.

This scheme applies to new build only, I believe. If there is enough demand, then this'll drive the construction of new housing stock, along with all the economic activity that entails. Long term, the additional housing supply created by these scheme might even bring prices down.
