  1. I read a lot of his stuff when I was a nipper. The Rats books were ace. Didn't like the bit when they ate the baby though.
  2. Even I've got an infraction. You have to get an infraction club tattoo as soon as you get five.
  3. I don't know why they'd be so upset. All speculation is talking boll*cks until proven otherwise. I would have a rosier outlook than many of the people on here, but I don't get upset about the prognostications of mediocrity, and most of the time, don't even bother addressing it. I just think "nah, you're probs talking b*llocks", and move on
  4. This is good solid casework, boys. You should bang a few doors in for the next part of your investigation.
  5. Credit where due. I like the new build discount. Anything that stimulates the creation of new supply is a good thing.
  6. How up to date is it? Does it say why the Falklands thread was closed?
  7. Until Game of Thrones returns, the only show I'm watching regularly is the Walking Dead, as most of my posts on here would indicate. After a rip-roaring start to the season in terms of action and excitement, the last few episodes have been much more considered efforts, leaving the viewer with the impression that the chess pieces are being moved around for the grand finale. This week, the show mainly depicts Woodbury, the rival settlement ruled by the Governor, a character who gets closer to his comic roots the more we see of him. I'm not sure if SuperMikey will agree, but I think the show has handled the Governor a lot better than the comics. The Governor was pretty much dialled to 11 in the comics from the outset; the first thing he tried to do was feed our heroes to his pet zombies. The gradual reveal has worked a lot better, although I really enjoyed the "all in black" fan service last night. Not many episodes left. Finale should be epic.
  8. Huge tune, unless you happen to like Ronald Reagan.
  9. Not unqualified, no. I'm a real crap Labour member. Can't be arsed delivering campaign literature, etc.
  10. They already did it, twice. Weren't the Brittanic and Olympic sister ships of the Titanic? Basically the same ship with extra safety precautions. Titanic II is pretty tasteless, imo - but then I think the likes of Liverpool and Belfast cashing in on the disaster is pretty tasteless too.
  11. C'mon now chaps. I'm a middle aged dad with responsibilities. I cannot be chasing duly elected skirt.
  12. That is my MP. Met her a couple of times, and will probs see her tomorrow night.
  13. Economies of scale in the case of the lower end jobs. Our crap wages buy quite a bit in Eastern Europe. A lot of Poles have set themselves up back home this way.
  14. There is a credible alternative; partner up with the rest of Europe and perform a root and branch reform of the financial system. Unfortunately, George doesn't want anything to do with that.
  15. I think this is the one where he finally admits he is out of ideas, and implements Heseltine's "bung money at regions plan" and tell them to get on with it. Heseltine was the only Tory who seemed to give a crap about Liverpool.

  17. Bumped for Milts. (you do know this site has a search facility, right nipper? )
  18. Yeah, I know. Guilty as charged. Dubai Phil will need to speak for himself.
  19. I try, Glasgow. I try.
  20. Close, but I'm on record as a real person anyway mate. 37.
  21. Alpine's considerably younger than that, I reckon. 48 would be my guess.
  22. The tug of my Sotonian roots became much more apparent after I left the city. I'm certain that I probably accentuate many of my Sotonian traits as a result. Can't say I know much about day to day life in Southampton.
  23. Brilliant post, Minsk. Every one of my points taken down comprehensively.... ...or perhaps not. It's clear that I've touched a nerve on your potential Britishness, so let me ask you something. If you love your country so much and it's such an affront to suggest that a decade out of the loop might have depleted your Brit-meter, then why don't you live here? Your point on the SO postcode is ridiculous, Minsk - unless you want to pretend you don't know what it is to be a football fan. The rest of it is just personal insults. I could whack them back all day, sir - but it's demeaning. Tell you what, I'll forget that you cast such terrible aspersions on my character based on my Internet posts, and you try to remember that this a forum where people debate positions, and that 8 pages of people saying "yeah, the Argies are sh!t. we love the Falklands" doesn't make for many conflicting viewpoints.
  24. I agree that we intervened in 1982, but it was nothing to do with the well-being of the islanders, and everything to do with the colossal loss of face that would be accompanied with abandoning its people. On that we're completely agreed. We shouldn't tolerate aggressors, and we were right to reclaim the islands. Oil, along with a bit of political opportunism, is one of the main reasons people are arguing about the Falklands. It's not a sideshow; people are thinking long-term. I believe the money will start rolling in toward the end of the decade. buctootim was good enough to give us an idea of the scale of the income rolling in. That is a tremendous amount of dough for just shy of 3K people. We've defended their right to be British for over a century. My view is if they are British, the dosh should go into a Norwegian style oil fund for the whole of Britain, them included. I'd even be happy with them getting a disproportionately large wedge of the dough; give them the opportunity to build a better community over the long term. It's ridiculous though, in a time of recession, to ringfence all the oil rights money for a Falklands sovereign fund. Just shy of 3K people? FFS, more people live in the Flower Road Estate.
  25. Indeed it is. They'd like to construct a Norway like economy, putting their national resources into improving the country, etc. Interesting article on it here:- http://www.newsnetscotland.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=517:nobel-prize-winner-oil-wealth-was-qsquanderedq-by-uk
