  1. Don't need to. Doesn't make it any less true. If they cannot stand on their own, then can't compete. Very simple. I can understand government funding initial infrastructure.
  2. This doesn't make any sense, at least the part about competition and subsidies. If you are subsidising a business to keep it going, then that business is unable to compete.
  3. Heh, all this crap about foreigners stealing our jobs. I suppose they were the executives who moved large parts of their operations overseas, or the shareholders that put money into companies that are known to be outsourcing production and labour to the Far East. You could evict everyone not of British birth and you still would not solve the fundamental problem of the West being f**ked, still wouldn't be able to solve the debt problem and still couldn't halt the runaway train that we call the financial system.
  4. Nah, nor me Alps. Not now, anyway. At the time, I said that if it was true that Nige had been sacked by TV, the club deserved to be condemned. He wasn't sacked by TV if he knew months before, unless NC said "Nige, m'boy - I've changed my mind about the job. You can keep it".
  5. Here is an NA interview from his Iron days. [video=youtube_share;JxC7KzkJcxM] Seems to say much the same things as he did at Saints.
  6. Couldn't find anything re: transfers but did find a couple of interviews on YouTube. [video=youtube_share;tbV7kWmpOiU] I'm sure that there is more on SaintsPlayer, but Pardew seems less guarded than NA.
  7. Well, it puts paid to the notion that Cortese was holding NA's strings in press conferences. I always hoped that there were two sides to NA, the one that we saw and the one that the players saw. Can't help thinking "what if NA was really like that with the players?".
  8. I did the classic zoo trick on April Fool's day. Did it to one of our tech support boys over in Ireland. He would enjoy the going around and fixing ladies' computers. Left a note telling him that a Penny Gwyn had phoned and left the number to Belfast Zoo. Fell for it. Tons of fun to be had with computers too. Swapping someone's mouse buttons around is a top one, as is taking a screenshot of the user's desktop before spiriting all their shortcuts into another folder. Recycle bin is literally the only thing they can use.
  9. I quite liked this.
  10. It's alright, people. The government have got a plan. They are just going to tell the foreigners that Britain is sh!t. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2013/jan/28/campaign-deter-romanian-bulgarian-immigrants-farcical While they're about it, they might mention the high tax on everything that gets spunked on campaigns like these.
  11. I agree that my point was provocative I'm fairly sure that most Brits would do alright on this test, and you're right - it's ingrained in a lot of us and not stuff we're like to forget. I had to guess on jury duty, but went with 18 because these days, you can do pretty much anything at that age. That all said, my point still stands. All of this stuff is easily findable on the Internet, and you can be sure that there will be agencies making a business out of priming people for the citizenship test, which defeats the whole point anyway. Will any citizenship test produce better Brits, or is it just another hoop for determined migrants to jump through? If you're moving to another country, bit of revision won't hurt, will it?
  12. Just spotted this with the emphasis. Yep, unfortunate turn of phrase there. Thanks for straightening it out.
  13. Yeah, me too - piece of the proverbial, really. It's as if they want more people to come in
  14. Pointless though really. See I'll read another thread, and see something I just can't let go, and you'll get more PMs! All good for the digest though!
  15. All hail the new citizenship test. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/quiz/2013/jan/27/british-citizenship-test-quiz-new The emphasis is on British achievements and history. What's your score?
  16. I've tried both of the download tools. Ultimately, it is immaterial cos my lappy runs Arma 2 like a dog. Standalone can't come soon enough.
  17. First off, absolutely no money - but some kind of quarterly digest might be nice. You can include what you feel are the best complaints, on any category you care to meet. Names don't have to attributed. In classic conspiracy style, everyone can be called Mr X.
  18. Am I allowed to have a strop now because you didn't text me asking if I wanted a ticket?
  19. Bear, going to give it a miss. I've asked him to join this forum loads of times. He always refuses, either because he hates you all or is secretly on here and winding people up. Neither would surprise me. Glasgow - do you fancy an official position as my complaints service?
  20. Yeah. It was a real shame that I didn't spot you in The Arkles. I'm still wondering why that was. Also surprised you never mentioned the spot of bother.
  21. "Tasty" in the "biff, biff - I'll punch you up like a kipper" sort of way, and less in the delectable young lady kind of a way. Do you still want his details?
  22. Blimey. Do you all get together and compare notes? Or have people just sent snidey PMs after some trademark pap pwnage? Nah, get it all the time. It is an unfortunate consequence of saying whatever is on your bonce. Fortunately, I had a very "tasty" mate at school, who basically prevented me from getting killed in my less mellow years
  23. Merely trying to help you resolve your identity crisis. Very kind of you to take my beliefs into consideration, but you should only do that to a point. If you actually DO live in Liverpool, then my belief is a false one I'd do well to shed. Nice opportunity to kill two birds with one stone & save a bit of money, surely?
  24. My prediction of 3-6 players looking crap now!
