Regarding the general criticism of Bazunu, last season it was probably justified, but even then that wasn’t really on him, he was just too young and inexperienced to be put in that situation. This season he’s pulled off some fantastic saves to keep us in games. Yesterday, he made an error, but it should not have proved catastrophic in the way it did, and that is also not on him.

That is a risk with the loan players, they were enjoying the ride when things are going well, showcasing themselves for lucrative prem contracts, but going into their shells on the pitch and phoning their agents when they are not.

Liverpool 3-0 Saints - Match Thread

Can’t we forfeit and avoid further damage to confidence? -
What I would say in his defence, the away game at Millwall was very tight, he completely ran the show in the second half that day. All things being equal we’d have been better if had kept him, he did possess the X factor.
-
Frustrating isn’t it, we need to take a few shots from outside the box when the opportunity is there and we need players to run directly at their defence in central positions, but we don’t, it’s like we are trying to pick a lock rather than kick the door down.

They are really having a go to be fair
-
I predict no, retrospectively

Don’t throw in the towel yet old bean, 80 plus minutes to go, plus they have two booked already. Only thing we have to worry about is Obefamis inevitable goal.

1 goal, 87 minutes

Just drove past central station, thousands of Burberry clad yobbos marching up the hill, police everywhere and sirens already going off.

It’s no good telling us, only you can make it happen.

Next season… do well t’avoid relegation from championship lad!

I have a feeling it’s going to be a feisty one.

Coventry in around 1978, my first season as a regular fan, Lawrie McMenemy the manager, I was a schoolboy. I took at is read that we won at home a lost away, I was very happy with that arrangement ....... until ----- we lost 3 - 2 at home , I think it was a last minute winner from Ian Wallace, a striker with ginger frizzy hair, which I also took exception to. Just to make it worse I was stood behind the goal in the Milton Rd when he banged it in, I still hate him for it, how dare he? I left the ground with the same feeling you get when someone very close has died.

Hull give every team a blueprint to beat us?
Toussaint replied to Daft Kerplunk's topic in The Saints
That is what scares me about Russball if we ever got promoted, (that and the virtually whole new team we’d have to buy),m. In the prem just about every team will have players who can exploit our system and slow play, it would be carnage. As you suggest , the reason Russball enjoys a level of success in this leafy is that most teams don’t have players who can hurt you. -
I can’t see him dropping Smallbone, he loves him.
-
Just realised Fraser has been dropped for Edozie, perhaps a bit of fatigue and minor injuries starting to accumulate?. Very strong bench though.

Do Everton “fans” only make a noise when they feel aggrieved, admittedly they seem to feel that more than most. There is absolute silence most other times, even when they are having a go. Very poor - E minus
-
Seems too much of a coincidence that their form dived as soon as they signed Kelvin Phillips, who has been absolutely abysmal

I’d be ecstatic with automatic promotion, even more so with a Wembley play off final victory. Winning the league has not entered my thoughts as a possibility.
-
THB maybe a better shout as he’s very comfortable on the ball, and has very good distribution, bring Stephens in as cb?
-
I think that is a moot point, if we get promoted we would need a massive overhaul of players, and Russ would have to adapt his style drastically. So, in my opinion, it would require a practically new team along with a new playing ethos
-
My fear is our weaknesses have been “noted” generally, so I hope Russel isn’t averse to changing things around. My mind goes back to the very day Ralphball was sussed, at home to Norwich, Dean Smith’s second game at sms in a couple of weeks, although we muddled through that game the next league game was 0 - 4 to Villa away, we continued to struggle thereafter. I hope Russ isn’t as stubborn as Ralph was.
