  1. I think THAT you are funnier than the two of them combined fwiw and I mean that as a compliment and a complement (i think).
  2. I have given up giving a ****.
  3. I'm not being funny...but, no one in my experience is as funny as they think they are. In contrast I find the funniest people have not a clue just how funny they are to the rest of us, sometimes it needs treasing out of them but iut is soooo worth the effort. Who makes you larf Deppo, careful how you answer this though.
  4. HCC's Big Idea by any chance? their were some very good suggestions put forward along with the predictable 'cut the directors salary' ones. That was not me btw, i want them culled, they really do imho cost too much by vurtue of there being so many of them not because of the salaries alone. Additionally, by default far too many frontline staff are accountable to too many layers of management. Re the office package that is quite frighteneing tbh. I work partly in an online centre and 50% of the 16 pc's now run OpenOffice the others will be done shorty, that was my own personal contribution to the deficit, thankfully me and my colleague in there are accountable to our su's and not the person/persons who 'negotiate' the deal for staff ;-)
  5. Really getting back into books over the past couple of months, I currently have two in the bathroom and another two on the bedside table, surprised myself how easy it can be to read more than one book at a time. Got a couple that I had asked Santa for which won;lt be to many people's tastes but I make no apology for the choices. 'Those Dirty Miners' a history of the Kent Coalfield. by J.P. Hollingsworth ISBN: 9781840335088 It's not really about the coal, it really isn't. To appreciate the emotive side of the colliers lives and what they stood to (and did) lose ,one has to appreciate where the people came from and how they were treated like second class people by not only the pit owners but also the people of Kent initially. There used to be signs in shops and boarding house that read 'NO MINERS, NO DOGS'!! They were hard men who were made hard by their circumstances; many walked from the north esat to kent for the work and their stories were 9still are) passed down the generations. I was quite enlightened to read how even the early capitalist (name eescapes me) who persevered and persevered in prospecting was actually a massive philathropic type and one of his succesors had his roller converted for use as an ambulance and set up the very first St John ambulance station at the pits, converted his mansion for use as lodgings and helped the miners to build their own welfare clubs, one or two still in use to this day.
  6. Sorry for not responding sooner and thanks everso for the kind offer Baj. Now sorted as I used a mem stick to sort the Ethernet post and then ran the Windows and Dell Download managers to find the missing bits. Still no cam though so I suspect a loose connection inside. I am quite interested in this Ubuntu OS of which people speak and may give it a whirl next time my laptop throws a wobbly. fwiw I have started to use OpenOffice as often as I can and am finding it a great resource, only a couple of files that haven't converted properly but not that difficult to resolve. Actually it has been suggested by a few people at Hants CC that the council makes the move to OpenOffice too, I really hope they do as it must cost us tax payers a small fortune to buy the MS licence for the thousands of machines that they run.
  7. Clappers, I have a 'Sony RDR-VX410 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo' machine that once set up does the job just fine, if you can find one I would recomend it my friend. None currently on ebay unfortunately but imho that would do the job. If you have no joy or better suggestions/offers I am more than willing to lend it to you for a week or two, you would of course have to collect from my home, that way I could run you through the set-up and wiring etc. Return could be done at a home match if that suits. I would need to hold you to the two week max lend i am afraid as mrs h would go nuts if she had to go too long without watching Shirley Valentine...just one more time. NB You need to make sure that you use the correct DVD format, don;t assume that they are all the same, I did this and had copied quite a few hours worth before realising that they wouldn't playback on all other machines.
  8. Too late mate, 'borrowed' one from work and ran it. All well re windows however I don't think there are any Dell drivers etc on the machine now, damnit. Not recognising the wi-fi or ethernet thingies, spun mrs h a line and told her to use mine until i sort it out which should be in rim e for her to facebook everyone a happy new year. Just about to d/l the driver, apps etc pack from the Dell site onto a stick and hope it sorts itsel. Fingers crossed she it might even get the webcam to work at long last.
  9. we all like eating things ergo we like them to be killed. moot point liquid.
  10. a man walks into a bar.......
  11. /\ btw johnny you may be in the centre of the graph but you are in the political lounge drinking with the likes of (no names, no pack-drill) when everyone else is getting merry in the saloon putting the world to rights. real world, it matters not as we are all pawns in this game of backgammon.
  12. 70% in the green johnny, what does that tell us? we can't all be leaders, law makers and wealth generators otherwise it would be pandemonium akin to the main board when certain subjects are dug up and people struggle to accept that theirs is not the only valid opinion. as with you and i, it is not our differences that are most important but the things that we have in common.
  13. rumours of prem teams scouting our players are apparently ridiculous if one doesn't like the player, however if you are the terrace darling then of course all rumour is founded. puncheon is a good player. no doubt AOC is turning it on atm but what if that too (as others suggest is the case with JP) is a flash in the pan? what if we actually do have enquiries that NC has turned down and he too (AOC) throws his toys out. what if rumours are true and both punch and aoc go? what would really make people happy at sms, i do wonder sometimes... any decent squad has to cover all eventualities and getting shot of punch could potentially be the biggest factor in us not progressing this season and what then; new manager, 'cortese out' ad infinitum?
  14. the return of the albion band would please me greatly
  15. Not heard the Chapel so noisy for ages. irks me when the norham patronise them with enthusiastic cheers somewhat as they tend to do when the itchen chip in too. ******s. anyone who has sat in with the visitors will know that they can hear the itchen choir and react more to them than the northam. chapel chapel, give is a song.... shhhhhhh, not quite the same as the old theme from the archers at the dell.
  16. SASH http://www.sassh.co.uk/ some decent user friendly FOC forms available too (bottom left).
  17. Not sure if the scheme is still in operation but the General used to have a kind of 'preferred landlord' scheme a while back, for their student nurses iirc. The Uni have a scheme http://www.southampton.ac.uk/accommodation/privaterented/landlords.shtml but not sure you'd fit the catchemnt aream maybe call them as they'd be well placed to advise on the SGH area perhaps.
  18. Deppo, proper HB.
  19. Bump Correction: It's Vista that we require, sorry.
  20. Hi, I want to re-install windows XP on mrs h's laptop. The proper method is to hit F8 on startup and select the 'repair' (or similar option, however this is available only once and having used it many moons ago I am a bit stuck. She's had so many problems recently so if anyone has a spare XP disc that I can cadge I would be most grateful please. btw, all files backed up and ready to go. cheers h Ps can collect anywhere southampton/eastleigh
  21. Adam Hamill? imho just needed taming, tempering and banning from Maccy d's
  22. I don't think that OC is doing Punch's job though tbf. I think that NA had a tough choice to make made tougher by jason's drive and desire to get on the pitch. He may have been sold the idea of coming to SMS with a certain game-plan that suited him, when that changed, his pride/ego kicked in and hence the fall-out. I woo watched the game today and agree Peachy that he was by far millwall's motm. They didnee show it on the telly last night but near the end he made a brilliant run down the right, cut inside and skipped around a couple of skate defenders, played a deft one-two and sky'ed the resulting shot, it really would have made goal of the day had he caught it right. I'd go as far as to say that the lions team lay more and more responsibilty on him to win it for them and he appeared well up for it. I fear that we may rue the day that we let him go although it's not too late to send the olive branch.
  23. Back from Skatesville and can confirm that Jason P CDAJFU imho. MOTM I thought as he ran up and down the lines and also switched wings as and when required. Millwall should have won but were outwitted by some prem class ref-conning and decent saves from ashdown. As we are all too aware of he does hold the ball too long on occasion but (again imho) that's due to him actually getting the ball so often. It's not always hid fault that players around him stand around like statues reducing his options. He needs a team-mate to overlap with just like the best saints sides have tended to dom even Chris Marsden looked good when he paired up and he is/was nowhere near as good an Punch. I'd conceded that he may never quell the anti's and boo-boys, so wish him a succesful move in Jan but am far from convinced that it will end up being to Millwall as he must have loads of scouts from clubs wanting a player of his quality and steel. Although I had reservations about sitting with the millwall lot I was pleasantly surprised to hear almost non-stop abuse aimed at the skates throughout, once outside the mutual neanderthal respect kicked in and everyone dispersed quietly. Almost forgot, one brave skate who had been having lots of dun 'offering out' the millwall lot in the corner almost came instuck when he ran on the pitch towards them and realising that the stewards had been caught napping made the wise decision to stop short and ran maniacally away thus saving the police delivering his family bad news of his state of health. Pies were better than ours including very quick service. Most of the f's and c's came from the under 10's I would say but they were not even close to matching the volume and grrrrrr of yours truly. I did you proud SWF buddies.

    Futurology

Will we still be paying off Leibherr's debt though, that is the question.
  25. A O-C out for mi££ions and Papa or/and Antonio back on permanent deals. In my opinion that would make us a much stronger squad.
