Difference is, this summer we will be selling said arseholes.

The middle aged (and OAPs) like me once would have been snarling, chanting hoodlums packed like sardines in the steel-fenced pens and cages at the Dell confronting the opposition fans in the heady days of the 70s and 80s. You won't find us licking our mobile screens all game like the fuc king tourists who won't be here next season..

Being a Saints fan, an exercise in futility?
adrian lord replied to OttawaSaint's topic in The Saints
Our fans get more pleasure from the 'small', rare victories we occasionally have over the likes of Manchester United, than the fans of Big Six clubs seem to do from winning trophies. Those guys only seem to get out of bed to cheer winning the Prem or Champion's League. Everything else is beneath them. It isn't futile being a Saints fan: the highs and sheer joy is there. But it is so frustrating to see us throw away the enviable position we occupied only 3 short years ago - best of the rest 1st team squad, best academy, a pocket powerhouse club churning out talent, beautiful football and fantastic league finishes. However the impending lows will only serve to make the returning highs so much sweeter again when they eventually come. -

You have to wonder what the big club fans actually get out of it because even their wins appear to be joyless occasions for them Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

To be honest I can’t wait for the inevitable drop down to the championship and to get rid of all these self-serving mercenaries Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Tepid game, tepid atmosphere. 40 or 50 years ago you would’ve been able to cut the atmosphere with a knife and both sets of fans would’ve been in full voice throughout. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sadly, money is more important than the trophy cabinet nowadays. Expect a ‘weakened’ team...not that we have any obviously strong line-up.

Puel put us on a relegation trajectory in the second half of last season - Pellegrino merely auto piloted us to it.

I think the club probably sussed that it is all quackery. And expensive quackery. Quackery always expensive because it doesn’t work and it’s a con-trick perpetrated by charlatans, with the sole aim of relieving the money from those with more of it than sense. At best there’s perhaps a placebo response from such ‘treatments’. If someone can explain the physiological mechanism that leads to ‘benefits’ in the striated musculature of the limbs by applying superficial chilling to the skin, then I’m prepared to change my mind... It’s also impossible to do a randomized controlled double blind trial for this sort of thing so while you can never really prove it works you can’t prove it doesn’t very easily either...

the pitch has been in remarkably poor condition since about November - did Spurs poach the groundsman along with Poch and that super-scout bloke with the black box encryption codes?

TBF, we could do with more needle from the stands.

Hughes has done his best, and made a difference but this team are beyond redemption. Too many mercenaries.

Classic relegation result and performance.

^ Liverpool will be genuine title contenders next season.

I agree with pretty much all of it, save for the paragraph about us not having our "self-respect stripped away by a disconnected owner". We appear now to have exactly that. Further, Kat in my view, while outwardly "having to do the decent thing" with daddy's cherished heirloom club, in reality couldn't wait to divest herself of something she had no deep affection or passion for. That slowly eroded the culture of success and ambition, and ultimately silenced the buzz of a club that regularly tweaked the noses of the Giants.

Emirates is a dreadful stadium at the best of times, but half empty as it is likely to be, will be the pits. It is looking dated and was always soulless; the architects must have had a brief to design out any chance of an atmosphere.

Spoilt goods. None have covered themselves in glory and the supposed stepping-stoners (boufal/hojberg/lemina/cerdric etc) will have seen their price stagnate at best. The massed ranks of crocks and journeymen are essentially worthless. The bubble is bursting except for the very, very best talent.
