  1. One save this season which you wouldn't expect him to make, and let's be honest even that wasn't that spectacular. It's not good enough.
  2. Can we wait a few minutes after a goal to allow VAR time to piss us off before posting.
  3. Even with the Bournemouth win as things stand we can still get out the relegation zone with a win tomorrow.
  4. Well yes, considering we had 15 very winnable points in his run that we got nothing from.
  5. Today's going great.
  6. There you have a quality keeper making a difference for Bournemouth.
  7. Kelvin Davis was in goal for Sunderland in their disastrous relegation season so I don't think that's his career goals conceded per game.
  8. But I've seen Bazunu play plenty of passes straight to opposition and the stats show his passing is worse, so once again no matter what way you look at it Bazunu is worse than McCarthy. Also wanting a keeper who is better at passing over a keeper who will save more shots is absolutely mental.
  9. Well I tried saying "Bazunu is shit, McCarthy is slightly less shit" but people dismissed that too. If people want to bury their heads in the sand then go ahead but those defending Bazunu have now said that anyone with the opinion that he isn't good enough, whether objective or subjective, are worthless. The evidence of our eyes shows he hasn't been good enough and the stats back it up. What metric are people using to say he should stay in the team, without resorting to saying how he might come good in 5 years time?
  10. We are guaranteed relegation with Bazunu. You need a keeper who will actually do something to positively affect the game once in a while, Bazunu does nothing. He may well be a great keeper in 5-10 years but I don't care. We are the only team with a first choice keeper this young and he is statistically the worst in the league - the second worst is Danny Ward who is 23 and all the rest are over 25. It's not a coincidence.
  11. I've used my eyes, McCarthy was bad but is better than Bazunu who has been terrible. Fyi what a player does with the ball AFTER they receive it doesn't affect the quality of a keepers passing to them.
  12. This is unsubstantiated nonsense. I would bet that if someone fluent in stat-speak looked it up, McCarthys distribution would be no worse than Bazunus. In fact it was easier than I thought to look up. Bazunus pass completion this season is 54%, McCarthys last season was 56.4% and the season before that it was 61%.
  13. Funny, but even when giving our opponents results I didn't think they'd get Saints ended up just scraping to safety in my predictor. It's going to go right to the wire.
  14. All the other teams at the bottom have got very winnable games.
  15. I think 14 points would be enough. People seem to think that because there's so many teams involved that the threshold to stay up will be higher, but it'll actually be the opposite.
  16. Hoping that they come out complacent thinking it'll be a much easier game and we raise our levels because the only time our players properly perform is when they're in the shop window.
  17. Fuck me, I cannot believe this "Bazunu decided to flap his hand in Souttars face to put him off" nonsense is gaining traction. McCarthy made saves you wouldn't expect him to make, last season he kept 7 clean sheets in the league. Bazunu saves nothing unless it is directly at him and sometimes even then he still concedes.
  18. We don't have time to let him slowly get better. If he right now is a 1/10, and McCarthy is a 3/10, then McCarthy is still a better shout for the rest of the season purely on the basis that in at least one game he might make a save that earns us points. Bazunu has earned us 0 points this season, has actively lost us points, and I am willing to bet he will do nothing the rest of this season that has a meaningful positive impact on the result.
  19. I get what you mean, but Newcastle are a very solid defensive side, leave nothing open which is where we struggle most. City at least leave themselves open.
  20. The point was I was trying to be realistic with Saints and generous to our opposition, so that if we picked up less points in reality then there would hopefully be more wiggle room as our rivals were likely to pick up less points too...if that makes sense? If I didn't give our rivals the odd win I didn't think they'd get, then we'd have been clear by about 5 or 6 points. And yes, we absolutely are taking this too seriously!
  21. Put that in the toss up category due to them having a few dodgy results and us beating them already.
  22. Like I said, I was being generous to the other teams around us by giving them results I didn't really expect them to get. If Palace wins those games against the teams around us then they all end up worse off.
  23. Yeah, 40 points has only been needed once since 2003. More often that 36 is enough.
  24. Premier League » Table calculator (worldfootball.net) There's the predictor for anyone who wants to have a go. Interested to see others results. (Be sure to go back to previous game weeks and do the games in hand).
  25. Can see us potentially getting results against Tottenham and Liverpool if we turn up and they don't (which they haven't been recently), United and Newcastle are write-offs to me, the rest are toss ups.
