He's not Pirlo with the ball at his feet FFS. He's a decent ball playing keeper but nothing special and not good enough to warrant putting up with his complete lack of basic goalkeeping awareness. McCarthy has been just as good playing out as he was, finding the fullbacks with long passes, looking dodgy a couple of times playing it short to CBs yes but Bazunu has also had plenty of those moments himself.

My defence of him wasn't from any kind of belief he'll be top quality for us. My defence of him was from the fact that he really didn't play that badly against WBA, certainly not enough to warrant being singled out. He wasn't any worse than Adam Armstrong and in fact with the improved performance he put in after half time I'd say he performed better. The issue we had was a lack of creativity from CM, especially as the fullbacks had a pretty terrible game going forward so we had zero threat from the wings in an attacking sense.

Bree is very good at RB, he should start there with KWP at left. Stephens on the bench where he deserves to be based on his performance. No coincidence that THB has dropped off since the defence has been messed with repeatedly when Stephens came back.

You're right of course, but the issue is that Bazunu has let in goals that if he HAD saved them, would have also been in that "unspectacular" category. He lets in absolutely routine shots. Then there was the commanding of the box which you mentioned and the distribution wasn't anywhere near as bad as people make it out to be. As i've always said, the benefits of Bazunus fabled passing ability do not justify putting up with the lack of basic goalkeeping skills.
