That's a rather quaint view of the world I think. The chairman is answerable to the shareholders. If he does a bad job, he gets fired (as in Lowe the first coming). If he does a bad job in a private company, then the only person he's hurting is himself. Someone who is uber wealthy can do what he/she wants (see Hearts / Romanov for a great example.

Jesus. You post an idea about the club and get slated for it.... and then NC and UM Pahars start knocking bells out of each other. The problem is not the PLC, it is the management. My argument, missed by most, is that you have more influence over a PLC than a private company. If Hitler was your CEO he can be voted off by the shareholders. If Hitler owns you as a private company, it's out with the red and white stripes and in with the Brown shirts. And you can do **** all about it. FYI Alpine - I didn't buy any tickets but I wager I put more in the bucket than you've spent on Saints this season.

Does anyone know how much the bucket collection raised on Saturday?

FA to investigate a "reported missing £40m"
Alain Perrin replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
If there was any hint of a 'missing £40m', surely the forensic audit that Wilde and Co carried out would have discovered it. And, if they discovered it, they would most certainly have publicised it as it would have taken the heat off of them. I am afraid there is a simple explanation for where the £40m went. Transfers, playing staff salaries and failed coaches. When even a mediocre player gets £0.5m a year that's £1.5m for the life of the contract. If you look at last season when we had a lot of players, many on substantial contracts, you can see where the money went. -
Clearly you didn't read all my post. "It's not as if the prospect of trouble wasn't publicised (and in those cases keep the **** out of Dodge is my opinion), plus he's ambling along hands in pockets using the deliberately slow walk of a substituted player. Let's say the police had told him to shift on a couple of times and he'd ignored or bad mouthed them. What do they then do? That said, no one deserves to die, regardless of how stupid they are." I don't for one minute think the policeman intended to kill that poor man. Do you? The question then is did he deserve a shove / a whack on the back? I was suggesting as to why they (the police) felt a need to attack him. The fact that he died is an irrelevance (clearly not to him, and clearly not to his family) but in the grand scheme of things. The key is whether or not you believe being obstructive (in the way I suggested he was being) deserves a physical response. Personally I think the whole thing is being shamelessly exploited by those with an anti-police agenda. To be honest our police are straighter and more responsible than most around the world.

St Jason. I've lived on council estates (you should try Bransholme, it's lovely this time of year). I'm not saying that every policeman is a saint, or that miscarriages don't occur. I'm saying that if you go up and scream in a police officers (or anyone's) face, then you should expect consequences. The problem today is that too many of the 'yoof' think they've got rights without any responsibilities. The problem is that police get so much ****e from people that they are less likely to believe the 'honest' bystander when he's in a mob hurling bricks.

Ahh. So based on a 10 second Youtube clip you've made a judgement on what happened. Perhaps that is the "maybe the stupidest thing to say ever". There are always cases where misuse of power occurs (that's why I said 99%), but you've no more knowledge of what happened before the video clip than I have. My (un-evidenced) opinion is that he's unlikely to be blameless. It's not as if the prospect of trouble wasn't publicised (and in those cases keep the **** out of Dodge is my opinion), plus he's ambling along hands in pockets using the deliberately slow walk of a substituted player. Let's say the police had told him to shift on a couple of times and he'd ignored or bad mouthed them. What do they then do? That said, no one deserves to die, regardless of how stupid they are. As for the other high profile cases. I'm just glad they've got Max Clifford to help them through the trauma. Lack of respect permeates our society - police, teachers, referees. You've only got to look at the way players talk to the Ref, and the Refs let it happen, more often without punishment. You've only got to look at yesterday's match for that. Equip the Ref's with pepper spray and that's problem solved. I'm a political "lefty" - but I believe most of the G20 mob and most of the mob yesterday, got what they deserved (and in most cases were looking for).

Yea hah! More threads about Lowe...

Cracking example of how this forum operates. Someone posts... and the vast majority pick up on a single aspect of it, ignoring the bits they can't argue against. I'll summarise for those who missed the point. 9 year old girl, thrown coin, stitches. Morons. Disgrace.
-
In my opinion, in 99% of cases where someone gets hit with a baton, smacked with a shield or cuffed round the ear, they deserve it. It's about time people had more respect for the police.
-
Whoever heard of someone in football called Pini?
-
Alpine please stop with listing the positives, Lowe's return could be really bad for the unity of the club.
-
That's the same justification Hitler used for occupying Austria.
-
I'd rather Saints remain a PLC than convert to a private company. There's far more visibility and opportunity to be heard in a PLC than in a private company. To keep a balance and avoid the fragmented share base that has caused us problems I'd do the following: - I'd allocate 10% of the share capital and allocate them to each fan who buys a ticket. - All shares allocated in this way would be placed in trust so that each fan would 'own' a number of shares in a nominee account under their name - but the voting rights would live with the trust. That way, fan ownership increases over time and there's an incentive for fans to buy tickets.

....once said "He radiates, when he walks on the training field and when he walks in a room. I like that in people. I like giving people. He's not a taker, he's a giver. I don't like the takers. I call them the drainers. There's radiators and drainers.'" It's the same on this forum. There are radiators and there are drainers. But not today. There cannot be today. Today we have to go out there and beat Burnley and we, the fans, can help. By being 'supportive' (from the verb to support) and by being positive. This is our opportunity to stick it to the man. To show that, even when beaten, we hold our heads up high and go out fighting. So look down the back of the sofa, beg or borrow (no stealing BWP) and get yourself down to St Mary's. Join in the song "You can stick your points deduction up your ar$e", and be a supporter. Be a radiator.

Our online system is gash though. I've forgotten my username and it won't reset my password without it AND my email. I'll have to do a walk up tomorrow.
-
Everyone recruit a friend and bring 'em along. I'll be starting the chant from Kingsland Centre (oh, just me then).
-
Saturday is crucial for Saints. We need to pack the stadium and sing it loud, sing it clear. "You can stick yer points deduction up yer ar$e, You can stick yer points deduction up yer ar$e, You can stick yer points deduction, stick yer points deduction, stick yer points deduction up yer ar$e" Let's get the fighting spirit back, beat Burnley, beat Forest and give the Football League a headache. Come on!!

For Sale - Football Club with adoring fans....
-
Get behind the Lowe Out campaign FFS. oh, he has...
-
Ironic. Salz is a Radley old boy, Lowe was a Radley Old Boy. Richard Aldworth Comprehensive doesn't get a look in....
-
We should never have sold the radio station in my opinion.
-
But they are (currently) a going concern. AND selling season tickets would help them remain one. Q.E.D. why not sell season tickets?
-
I don't get it. If we are up **** street, why haven't the club started selling season tickets? The problem, as I've said from early on, is that they are asking for money for nothing. If they had something tangible for people to 'buy' to save the club, or something in return, they'd get a lot more 'donations'.

Interestingly, Monaco residents aren't allowed to gamble in the casino.
