I always thought that he spoke well in post match interviews, was honest about the causes, and identified the problems (and more) that I was shouting about during the game. Certainly he had a bad hand to play so it is difficult to judge what he'd do with a free run. You can always look at managers and find fault (those that criticise Wotte for picking Smith would do well to look at Strachan (who is hero worshipped on here) and McCann...) Good Luck Mark Wotte - so long, and thanksh for all the fish....

Message from Tony Lynam - Saturday 20th June 12:54pm

By "pre-Wilde", I mean when Wilde was whipping the proles into hysteria using Saintsforever etc. I agree that the majority of fans are realistic (at least when you discount matchday optimism), but it is the vocal unrealistic minority who have an impact far greater than their numbers. "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing" etc. You could almost call them the lunatic fringe..... -

Agree with the sentiment but the same post could have been made pre-Wilde. I fully support a Pinacle takeover but I don't see any reason why the unrealistic expectations of fans will change and, in time, there will be a section aggrieved at Tony Lynam for some perceived slight (selling a player we all want to keep, promoting Saint's award winning catering or similar). That's not Tony Lynam's fault, that's not Saints, that's just football fans and the MTV / credit crunch culture of wanting everything now. So come on Tony, take over our club, you can make it a great one - just don't expect the love of everyone, all the time. -

To be honest I think people underestimate how much legalese is involved in taking over a multimillion pound business. There are always last minute clauses inserted by both sides, or the implications of paragraph 62, sub section c become better understood. People need to relax and let it happen. Kind of like constipation. -
Money - Ashley DoF - Dennis Wise Manager - Keegan Director - Lynam, Lowe, Wilde and Crouch. A winning combo IMHO....
-
Meant to say ...website. Good news if true, although Crouch didn't rule out Paul Allen taking us over Keegan would be a romantic option and maybe instill a bit of belief in the fans. COYR

Were they having sex? Nothing in the echo

Out of interest, what question did he ask?

Anatomy of a rumour. Person A tells Person B, Person B then tells Person C. Person C tells Person A who can now tell Person D that he has "heard it from two separate sources". I'll believe official or named sources before I believe unnamed ones. Perhaps that's hope, but it is certainly based in experience.

What are you on about? I was merely pointing out that there would have been a 14 page thread on that one line if RL had uttered it rather than Tony Lynam. Mysterious money men, no football experience in the proposed chairman, limited business experience in MLT, limited communication, dodgy websites - you can see the Anti-Lowe's touching themselves in excitement if it was Rupert, not Tony. Personally I think it is refreshing that such hyperbole and over reaction is gone (for now) from this board / football club. Anyways, you can say what you like about me in your random streams of conciousness Ottery, but I've always supported WHOEVER ran the club. Constructively criticised yes (including Lowe), but recognised that it's a ****ing hard job (can't please all the people, all of the time etc.). I don't think you can say the same.
-
It's funny how the lens of hope, or maybe desperation, makes responses different. Six months ago this would have been - "How dare Tony Lyman [Rupert Lowe] play golf [shoot ducks] when the club needs saving." Il y a deux poids avec deux mesures.
-
Wotte good work....
-
Seriously are you in love with Nineteen Canteen? Not only do you have a cutesy name for him, you feel the need to respond to every post he makes. It's some kind of ****'d up fetish.

I asked my mate Nig Nog about this and he didn't feel it was racist. On a serious note, any form of racism (even follicle racism against my Ginger brothers) is out of order. There are however terms / sayings that are said without intent (and, IMHO, it is the intent that makes it racist). For example, "to call a spade a spade" - used all the time, but has racist origins. It's a crazy ****ed up world out there people.

Design a Saints rebrand - Fan competition

Simple yet effective. -
TBH Alpine Frank's post didn't mention anything about Lowe, nor did it say anything negative. I am happy for you to copy the bits to prove me wrong, but IMHO he was being realistic (i.e. if we sell less ST's there will likely be less to spend). You claim to have predicted all that befell the club, well done, have a medal. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day and it is far easier to be negative than be positive. To be fair you were right on a number of issues (not least the LB / CB issues which you took grief for), but I think your reputation precedes you and clouds sometimes valid points. Almost without exception you (appear) negative on everything and then conveniently disappeared when a win happened or when positivity reigned (albeit not very often last year ). This irked me last season, especially as you didn't physically see many games last season yet were quick to pass judgement based on a teletext score. Just my opinion and I do agree we all need to be positive about what can be a new, clean start for this club. I will remain glass is half full next season, it's a lifestyle choice.

Swindon. Giants of the West Country.

Less media frenzy, more the reaction of some of our more 'emotional' fans if things went tits up. You only have to see some of the vitriol directed at Rupert Lowe to see how that can happen. Players and owners alike, a Saint can become a sinner in the eyes of the fans very, very quickly. Sure it might just be words, but, if I was seriously wealthy, it would be something I'd consider before making an investment.
-
I've said before that I will not step foot inside St Mary's until Rupert Lowe is chairman again. I will still be going to away games though.
-
His first name is Rupert....
-
Significant investment immediately over a period of time ???!! How does that work?
-
I think that was probably £10 Million. For £10 Billion the creditors would bite his hand off - they're only owed £30 odd million.
-
So to paraphrase, you'd rather have ANYONE but Wotte and you're quite happy for them to meet the players for the first time two days before the season starts. Odd, but you're entitled to your opinion.
