  1. Agreed. Too often there are a bunch of muppets on here with opinions that are based more on a player's haircut or tatts than on reality. Does Wotton pick himself? No. AP picks him to do a job (leader, muscle, height - who cares). If Wotton fails to do his job, do you think AP is better placed to judge than you (from behind your keyboard, listening to second hand opinions on Solent?) Wotton wasn't the reason we lost on Saturday, by the sounds of it, there were 10 others. Trust in Alan, or, if you can't do that, at least give him until January.
  2. And clearly you weren't here when a helluva lot of other players played (variously I have heard Fuller, Crouch and Bennett described in this way). Wotton isn't Maradona, he's not going to be. He's the big guy in the centre of the park, uncomplicated muscle. Are there better players with those attributes, yes. In our squad, no. Should AP be looking for someone? Yes, I think so. The reason (I think) AP plays Wooton is experience and muscle. Whilst Gillett is a better player (IMHO), he's not going to beat anyone up.
  3. Hark at the suicide squad, bashing their keyboards in frustration. Patience is the key.
  4. Personally I think the continued reference to bi-polar disorder is in bad taste, regardless of whether some troll has irked you in the past. For people with that condition and their families it is no laughing matter. Given the level of moral outrage some people on here are prone to, it is a shame to see double standards being exercised when they find someone irritating.
  5. I struggle with the concept you can be a great defender and concede lots of penalties. Mistakes happen, he just seemed more prone than most. There were definitely 3 penalties he conceded (Blackpool, Burnley and Charlton). Out of 20 appearances that appears heavy for me. The 'fourth' non-penalty (my mistake) was just outside the box vs. Birmingham. I am not against him as a defender (I think he was excellent in the air), my problem is that he gave away too many clumsy fouls. For Burnley and Charlton they were suckers penalties where he got too close to his man and gave the attacker the option of tripping over his feet. Because of that I'm out.
  6. It's like saying Fred West was a good builder, just a pity he buried prostitutes under my patio. Giving away penalties is a cardinal sin in my opinion. How many did he concede (I think 4)? For a central defender in half a season that is shocking.
  7. Liability in my opinion. I've never seen someone give away so many penalties. He only looked good because we'd become used to so bad.
  8. Call me an old codger, but.... - I can't understand the obsession with having the f-word in every chant. If Andrew-Lloyd Webber took that approach I think his songs would be far less memorable... - I think that any songs of more than one sentence (repeated) will struggle to get learnt. Give It Up / Rasiak is a good example of an easy to learn song.
  9. Ash, it wasn't meant to patronise. Just that fans tend to notice the flamboyant, rather than the ordinary (but necessary). You've only got to look at Jesus to see how a haircut, a few tatts and a bit of fist pumping towards the Northam can cover up a lack of ability. I think Matt Oakley is a classic example. Not appreciated by the (majority of) fans, but his absence from the team coincided with a loss of Saints' form. A fit Matt Oakley would be an asset to Saints at the moment.
  10. I think Schneiderlin suffers from the centre midfield curse that afflicted Matt Oakley. Too often fans overlook the important contribution that players like him make, linking up play, playing the composed (simple) ball. He is not meant to be a box to box midfielder, he's the composed one in the centre. Running around does not a footballer make, just look at Lallana - lots of effort, little product. I'd have Morgan in my team ahead of Lallana every day of the week.
  11. Lol. And how the lunatic fringe would have applauded Lowe for wearing a scarf...... Each to their own. If ML wants to wear a scarf then good on him, I just won't be rushing to the gents to crack one off over it.
  12. Alpine to be dragged from the stand at Brentford and given a shoeing by Liebherr in the centre circle. Surrrprise!!!!
  13. Don't remember them, too young . I am in two minds, skill wise I just don't think Murty is up to much really, maybe if he can get fit and lay off the pies. You are a young player though and you'll respect him. Unless you want Murty to give you an earfull, you'd better play we'll. Do you agree with me?
  14. IN Sardines OUT Pilchards
  15. I don't normally pick people up on spelling but FFS I thort you were at Uni? The price is still between £10 and £18 (dependent on where you sit). It's just called a young adult ticket, rather than a student ticket. So for the majority (vast majority are 21 or under) of students it doesn't make any difference whatsoever.
  16. Sorry. One excellent strike, then a minute of him fluffing (shots) and getting his shirt pulled, followed by another couple of goals shown 8 times from different angles. He might be good, but that video is bizarre. Nice hair though.
  17. In the years I have supported Saints, the proportion of dickheads in our fan base has increased. Not sure if that is me becoming an old codger, or whether it is reality. What I do know is that on here there is sometimes defense of the indefensible (smashing up a old boy's greenhouse in WBA, smashing up a pub in Bristol etc. etc.). So we've been categorised 'C', for c***s, because that's what some of fans are.
  18. There is an easy solution to this. Spread the cost of the extra policing across the back four rows of the affected area. £120K a season. 4 rows * 25(?) seats in a row = 100 seats. So a season ticket there would cost £1500. Excellent value to stand up I would say. Any takers?
  19. Let's be clear. What you are talking about is not giving a student discount. You are talking about giving a mature student discount. The proportion of mature students at Southampton Uni is circa 20% of which, say, a generous 5% are likely to go to football (in term time, when they can afford it, when they haven't got a hangover). Southampton Uni is 20K-ish, so that's 200 mature students who might miss out on a discount. Difficult to justify really. Especially when it could cost the club more by those who legitimately, but immorally in my view, use a student discount when gaining an ID through a night course, work funded sandwich course, accountancy exams etc. In my experience students have far more money (generally) than they ever used to. Hence the houses with Sky TV, broadband and a Dyson. In my day you were lucky if you had central heating and a Radio Rental's Grundig video. You don't know how lucky you are.
  20. New manager so more than normal. Summer holidays so less than normal. 1st 'proper' game of new regime so more than normal. Just been relegated less than normal. Probable new signings so more than normal. Global recession less than normal. Millwall one of the better followed teams in the division so more than normal. Millwall have a tabloid reputation so less than normal. Therefore 18,472

  22. Having made the mistake, for I think Norwich, last year I thought I'd remind everyone. I found out in Homebase car park when Radio 5 were interviewing MLT on the pitch. "He's there early" I thought..... oh ********. As I live 60 miles away it's not even possible to make the second half. Anyone else done the same?
  23. I don't think we will be. It was used in a think Jahidi think Bolton, think pickle think Branston's kind of way.
  24. Bizarre response.
  25. What's interesting there is the statement that he earns £1K a week. Not much compared to Stern John, Rasiak, Euell etc... Literally a different league.
