Chelsea don't rip up everything every time they change managers and we've seen lots of evidence at Man City of the "DOF" type body being involved in player purchases etc. The core system CAN be made to work, it is a management STRUCTURE. Structure is actually completely irrelevant. It is how it is IMPLEMENTED that is the key. Should the 1st Team manager sit at every Board Meeting and know all the intricacies of the situation around the club as a business or should he sit in the training ground in isolation? The ONLY system that will ALWAYS fail is one where NO change or development or improvement exists - The Implementation must depend on the ability, skills, knowledge and talents of the people INSIDE the structure. So if it is a cartoon DOF system it will fail. If it is a system built around the people it could work. Our concerns are based on the assumption that NC is some control freak - we will soon find out. Does the implementation fit the people or fit some half baked ideal?
