    Today

Yep Think everyone should read the Cortese Questions thread
  4. Thanks for posting the link. Finally almost a week on we see a Wow factor. Anyone doubting that we all share the same dream is seriously in need of medical attention. We (& I) may not agree with the way he is going about things, but the one thing that came out in that link is that this is not JUST a business. Yeah sure it was a smooze & booze evening but at the end of the day (oops) I actually think he will do it
  5. Oh trust me.... Once upon a time in a far away land I met some Taliban who had been fighting the Russians in a trip up to the top of the Swat Valley. No matter how sensible or logical debate will NEVER win those feckers over. The thing that Barney simply misses is that they spend their days looking for the easiest shopping mall to blow themselves up in. They truly believe in the land of Milk & Honey & Virgins, not even showing them pictures of the only 8 year old Virgins left in the UK in their size 30 dresses changes their understanding. One day, unfortunately, a friend of Barney's will be in West Quay when it goes down. May he never ever have to say "If only I hadn't typed that" The company I used to work for had a lad on an AA flight on 9/11, I have met these people. Honestly, be afraid, be very fecking afraid, and most of the brains behind it all live in.... UK being paid Social Security by you idiots

    Today

My house is on the last bit NOT happening. Actually think we could come out of today looking very good. Brit society is all about the NOW, but I have a sneaking suspicion (whether intended or not) this will work out
  7. Will sort something out for the Cherries at home before the game. I land from the US at 8am and leave back here at 9pm so planned to perfection with a run down the M3 in the middle
  8. And of course, one of the highlights of the Forum is when Dune has been on the sauce. Dude, one day we really must introduce you to Bullfrogs
  9. The sad thing Dune is that slowly others are coming around to this. I spend my time on here because I really enjoy watching so many remind me of home but also re-inforce the stereotype of the Whingeing Pom that actually made me want to leave in the first place. It is sad that so many reasonable posters have taken offence or simply label this forum as full of depressing morons. BUT hopefully the past week has seen many many new or low count posters come back and I do think we have (on the whole) been good to them, Some may have not got our in-jokes "Joshing" them for being ITK or the HP/Sauce responses, BUT I actually hope that we can finally move on and welcome them. The real moaners are funny, and actually sometimes right. The doom of a Saturday afternoon when we can only listen and type on here being so far away as another game goes t1ts up is always relieved by having a quiet bet with oneself at what point Alps will come on. I have only ever had issues with one poster on here (as did many others) and I hold no regrets that after the Dubai Massive ganged up he vacated the scene. I tried the understand his point of view approach but no he truly was a nasty piece of work. We all want the same damned thing. Saints winning things with our own players playing our own style. SOme of us fought tooth and nail to try and save the club, some of us tried to help by explaining. But here we are. The King is Dead, Long Live the King of Saints FC And yes without a fecking larf, what's the point
  10. Oh and here's the rub. I bet Mitchell was absolutely GUTTED that Howe didn't get the job. He REALLY has a few problems brewing that the media & fans haven't jumped onto yet. 300K compensation would have been very very very useful by the end of the month
  11. He didn't lie. He made a statement to the media. Very different. Howe goes to interview comes back without the job. Simple to make a media statement out of that my friend, what is more it would actually be almost true.
  12. At the end of a weird and very long day. I actually agree with JlT's OP. On this issue I really cannot see where NC has made any mistakes. He is not a football man and he decided to do something different - interview more than one candidate. Anyone over the mental age of 18 cannot possibly see that as a fault, in fact I see it as wise, something to date I am not convinced NC has shown. The more I have thought it through, I am seeing one simple thing emerge. NC is appearing to be consistent. I've said it before, I realy don't care if he is a complete c*ck (Top Gear expression) and a BMW driver, BUT he is our c*ck and he IS consistent. Whatever happens in the next 24 hours, I don't believe that NC will have any egg stick to his face, a lot of other people will (including me and most of the other regulars on here) He told us it will be on the OS first. You know what? It bloody well will. We just didn't believe it. Onwards, upwards and time to stop the cr@p and get fully behind the whole SMS team. (And respect to Dune for putting something similar despite his own reservations elsewhere earlier today)
  13. Having been running the I told you so thread, I still think we should all bow and show our respect to Gammon Cheeks page 64 of the New Manager Gossip Thread. Whoever Mr 59 posts really is, he is now a fully paid up member of the no b**s actually was ITK club and is just about the only one in 3500+ posts who pretty much had it nailed. A fish & chips lunch awaits before the Bournemouth game at Mike's near to Debenhams about 1:45 my friend (1:30 if you want a pint as well). Congrats, even if it doesn't actually happen. (Oh, mines a pint of 6X Nico) cheers and good luck
  14. Dzieki za komplement, pan. I just wish to point out that there is no truth in any speculation linking Rasiak as our Player Coach
  15. OOps sorry GF problem there. Think she's a bit upset I googled the above and seems she spotted Angeline leaving my bedroom earlier. Make of that what you will with regard to the managerial situation. Will be back with y'all shortly, once I get this large kitchen knife out of my lower regions
  16. Watched from afar via cricinfo & Torygraph a good fight today. Hopefully press on and get the win and I can enjoy my trip to the Rosebowl on 22nd at a Div 1 venue
  17. Wlasnie zobaczylam Angeline Jolie jak wychodzi z sypialni Dubai Phila!!
  18. At the end of the day, Dubai_Phil went out to examine the offer that arrived from a newly opened English Fish & Chip Shop located a mere 400 metres from Dubai_Phil's abode. Dubai_Phil can now report that the crispy battered Cod and fresh chunky cut potatoes were, up until that point the single most interesting thing that had happened during Dubai_Phils' day. Until of course Dubai_Phil read this thread right at the end of the day, beginning of a new day. Dubai_Phil remains whelmed at the events of the day, and, at the end of the day, all things being equal, Dubai_Phil did not get where he is today without having a pleasant chortle at the events of the day that has ended and, truly, without a doubt an added chortle at the media & Mr Wharton who, in Dubai_Phil's opinion have, at the end of the day, just had their whacko jacko media moments. Dubai_Phil believes that for true comedy value, Nicola Cortese should unveil Zola as our new manager tomorrow. (Sorry I like the way Adkins has handled himself and his record and standing, and I think he will do a really great job. However I think giving him the job simply because he really reaaly wants it is not a good reason at all. Nickh & Dubai_Phil really really wanted the job as well). Dubai_Phil wishes to thank those such as 1976Child who posted before that for the inspiration Oh and FC - yep I agree And yes Dubai_Phil doesn't really wish to now see Zola but is believed to be willing to accept the potential 3rd Choice should circumstances prevail
  19. Of course, as per the Adkins Press Conference It could be that he came down, and had an interview. All the rest was made up BS We don't know, other than SOMETHING happened last night could have been Wharton got the wrong end of stick - let's wait and see
  20. Yep, no more speculation. Keegan obviously has the job as last man standing
  21. Lol at this, the poor old fogey thread.... Saints fans hit Last of the Summer Wine realisation moment Guys. I know it isn't a total cure for it, but I have to say, throwing it all away, and upgrading to a younger model GF instead of the nagging old woman sure as heck takes your mind of moaning (outside the bedroom) for a few years But yes, Football has to change. Unfortunately I think I am more likely to be watching Bolton V Man City up the road in Abu Dhabi in two years on a Saturday than I am seeing it change the right way
  22. Nope. Cannot have been that last bit... Think it through You are at an interview, you are offered the job. It comes with a package and terms and conditions. You sort those out BEFORE you leave the room OR you say "I will need to get my lawyers to check this and that". What you do NOT do is to leave the interview and then tell the world that you have the job. (Or in this case have Wharton tell the world). You get everything agreed before you leave, OR you say "I need to sleep on this" SOMETHING happened overnight. I'm a quiet cynic (thanks Pancake) but on this one the trail of the mess leads back to Scunny's door. Is Wharton REALLY so think he felt he could play billy big bollo in the media to negotiate? If so he really has been ill advised reading The Sun could have told him what NC was like. My interpretation of this - Adkins did not fully commit at the interview, NC asked him to and saw some sign of wavering. 14 years is a lot to give up, I sure as hell would have wanted to think it through first. Scunny then mouthed off. TBH I would have done exactly what the OS statement said and would have told NA the deal was being pulled. That does NOT mean I am not worried about NC, just this one does NOT look like the right stick to beat him with, ESPECIALLY because we need a new manager with Commitment to The Cause, not some "ooh well yeah that sounds nice but well I think maybe OK can I get back to you say Monday or Tuesday, thanks for the offer"
  23. I'm waiting to hear his explanation. I will question him when I have some facts. The past week has shown us that we should NOT believe anything we are told at the moment. I understand there may well be reasons at the moment that he is keeping quiet. I will question him IF he continues to keep quiet as I think we are owed slightly more explanation, however we didn't get it with WGS or Sturrock either. I have expressed concern at the decisions made of late. I expressed concern also at AP, I didn't rabidly rant on about it, I was just uneasy at our lack of passion and lack of ability to break teams down. Strangely I don't change my mind to match the latest fad on here, so I remain commenting only things I have seen or heard at games when it comes the the team or on things I can analyse from a distance. NC is our chairman. I don't praise him for saving the club and if you had come to the forum games you may have discovered why. I eventually reached the point where I understood Lowe's position was untenable and he needed to go. I analysed and criticised the Execs over the pre Charlton match statement and I criticised Crouch for his Churchillian style. All of which were opinions I made based on the facts as I saw them. Today I see a Photo Ban, an HP scheme and an unexplained departure of a manager. I have commented on them and criticised them, BUT I have also understood how those decisions were made. Everything else is still heresay. What do you propose Darren? We've had 5 Chairman in about 4 years, we get through them almost as fast as managers. Do YOU want the job? I think DM (I THINK it was him) misled the fans on Solent. I feel that is a disappointment. It makes me question his judgement. I don't want an analyst at a game explaining things to me when I don't have confidence that he isn't exagerating or even possibly making things up. I use his insight to try and then comment on here. If he's wrong makes what we say on here look (more) stupid (than usual). I've commented on it. For your perspective I have also posted possibly 30 or 40 times more comments on the managerial situation. I understand we interviewed a number of candidates. I believe that is pretty usual in business. How the hell can you know somebody is the best fit for our club unless you talk to them. Hell OUR opinions were divided, what sort of total MORON would believe a League1 side set up as we are would just pick the first name that 30% of this site voted for. Want me to critique NC for that? Until we know WHAT happened people who rant about the sacking are looking foolish. I am very worried about it and want to know why. Sorry I won't join you outside SMS getting people to sign petitions demanding NC tells us TODAY, NOW this Minute. Oh and FWIW I have also regularly posted that NC is only here for the money and also said how much.
  24. Totally disagree. can you imagine the uproar if it was the other way around. NC says - Wilkins is preparing the team for Saturday because I let NA go back and take a final training session and pack his bags? Also, what does it say about NA's judgement - the quote says the meeting finished at around Midnight. As I recall trains and planes stop at about 11pm so that would mean a 5 or 6 hour drive home instead of a night in a hotel in Southampton and a quick trip to the training ground so that they can see everything and let Wilkins know what they want him to work on as well as doing the Press Conference. No, IF it is as reported then that shows damned poor judgement. You are being offered the job and the Boss says I really need you to do this it is really important and you say - ah no, actually boss I have something more important to do, jeez who WOULDN'T query that sort of response? We need promotion we need(ed) a result at Swindon not a nice set of handshakes.
  25. Yep ATM correct. Events have caught up with the thred somewhat :-) Still, I now hold a different opinion on our Innernet Commentary team than I did at the weekend. I class them in the SaintLee/St David breathless excitement fold when it comes to "being ITK"
