Oops they did it again - Match Fixing in 4th Test
dubai_phil replied to dubai_phil's topic in General Sports
The problem with Pakistani cricket is much deeper than simply match fixing. The rotten mess goes all the way through the entire politics surrounding the National Side. I had the good fortune to spend time as a guest of Lahore CC during our previous tours and saw mobile phones being delivered to "The Office of a Pakistani Cricket Legend" for distribution to the players (as did Bumble & and another Sky voice). That legend was so high up that his office was a VVIP box above the VIP boxes, next door to that of the commentary team and the other side was Musharraf's personal box. Nobody was in any doubt who the phones were from all had the players names on. BUT for the players surrounded by favouritism, cronism, and sheer ludicrous selection policies, I don't really know if you can cast the "It's just not cricket" "Nose held high in arrogant posture" response. While they may well do better than the "First Class" cricketers in their country and have the chance of being a celeb, they will often be supporting a vast army of family and friends. So their actions (allegedly) cannot be condoned. But they can be understood. Before Cricket does the simple expedient thing of simply throwing those poor idiots who got caught out of the game they REALLY should look MUCH higher at the mess and where the whole stain flows down from -
Yes. The big surprise is that anybody is even remotely interested

http://sport.virginmedia.com/football/article/2010/08/29/pards_still_in_market So there you have it in black and white We won't be ripped off, we know who we would like but if it doesn't happen then we have plenty of options with the loan window
-
Yeah I agree, they didn't look too clever in the friendly at SMS think they'll struggle in nPC unless they work hard in training up at the Majedski

Harrington, Donald & Edoardo Molinari Have to agree with Molinari he was magnificent this afternoon when he had to win. He's won twice this season and paired with his brother will be a force to reckon with Donald - agree great comeback season and good performance in Spain & at Celtic Manor Not sure I would have gone with Harrington though. Yes he won 3 majors but hasn't sparked since then. Casey is the gutsy fighter and Rose has the form at the moment. Anyway will be fantastic to watch

Ah another day another set of thought processes. PCFC. The Pakistan of Football In a sporting sense of course

Can't believe they let that clip up on You Tube. Damn, I've been outed, now the real reason for my trip back next week has come out damn blast and damn I am of course the one the chicks all fancy

If he needed Cortisone Injjections under Medical Supervision then I am not qualified to judge. I had to have a Cortizone injection to get me on a flight when I had ankle ligaments lock up (5 years after a skiing accident) I didn't want them, it didn't cure the problem long term but it got me on the flight and didn't make it any worse so Doctor knew best.

So just to get this right we are still of differing opinions as to the professional medical opinion passed by the specialist in London? I feel it is important we get a resolution to this, as if it is shown that the forum knows better then it will save me a fortune as I need to get a problem sorted with my left knee. I had an ACL problem & op 15 years ago and now it is locking up and causing inflation, meaning I cannot keep my leg bent when sitting at SMS. This clearly is Saints related as the people sitting behind me next week at the Rochdale game will have their enjoyment of the match spoilt as I have to stand up every 15 minutes or so. I do have a doctor's note for the Stewards but want a second opinion from the experts on here Thanks and be quick I have to pack

Oops they did it again - Match Fixing in 4th Test

Was thinking the same myself. Viewed with hindsight it clearly seems much worse now than it may have done at the time. That event happened in a far more naive time when it could be argued (by MLT himself) that it was a lark to pull one over on the bookies. The problem is that like many things evil, they start off as small and insignificant events and quickly grow into a multi-headed hydra. MLT would have never understood the implications and how the world has progressed (and he has publicly apologised and I & other TSW members have heard him speak from the heart about it publicly), BUT it is a serious lesson for everyone to note. Nothing is ever as it seems and a harmless jape today can become something really serious and damaging in many different areas and walks of life. I'm annoyed that this takes the shine off a fantastic performance and recovery from England and it also seems very likely now that Pakistan will be ordered to return home meaning no ODI's or Twenty20 matches. Which is REALLY annoying as I had tweaked a trip to the US just so I could get to the Rosebowl in September. A lot of Pakistanis here are in denial, believing they have been stitched up by the Colonialist pigs again. A lot more are deeply saddened and feel cheated -
Yeah but they ARE worth 30 million.... Which again, as a reminder is EXACTLY the same amount of money that was needed to buy SLH & restructure our debt while we were being touted by Seymour Pierce in the middle of an economic boom. 3 Hopes Bob Hope No Hope and Envelope

Thanks Ron, Professional advice followed. Next anti-Saints/Management/Players/Tactics Bandwagon will be along in a moment. We request posters not to panic or reach for extra doses of medication

Well they probably weren't looking forward to posting on here with us in a happier mood after the game. Life can be so tough for the manic depressant

Nah, honest Gov. I didn't do it, t'was pure co-incidence squire. No way, not I, never. If this sting broke during the test it's no wonder they looked like Rabbits in the Headlights yesterday and would expect this morning's session to last about 12 balls IF they bother to turn up! -
Think you missed off a coupple of other points Pace, Distribution & (according to reports) concentration. Expect there will be games where we need the brick and some where we need the yoof

AP out. How dare he accept Medical Opinion and see if it settles down. Should have chopped the damned thing out and got a new one fitted instead of letting AL go off on holiday. Disgraceful behaviour compounded by the fact that he didn't send any DNA to that Lab in Scotland to clone him OR sign Beckham and 3 other back up players as cover

Weeeeeeeeeellll. If you've ever been to or done business over time with Pakistan then seeing this never comes as a surprise........ http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/cricket/international/pakistan/7970062/Pakistan-cricket-team-at-centre-of-alleged-match-fixing-controversy.html 102-7 and stops attacking and takes off best bowler were the issues that Mike Holding was saying on tv were weird. But if there is now any alleged proof of a link between this bloke and the team...... The story could run and run
