  1. Ah ha.. I assume you aren't referring to Distributed ProofReaders Did a google search oops sod it Got the YOU ARE ARRESTED slogan from the ISP proxy, blasted SWAT team outside now Not sure what worries more - the cops coming or the fact that you guys knew about that stuff
  2. Actually I'm surprised nobody has put all the pieces together yet The missing posters thread The Bond movies Forum members coming down this way Eric working at the airport We're really an evil 2nd hand replacement body parts operation, planning to total world domination by means of airmiles and dodgy vans gaining entrance to the airport freight sections. You may know our technical director, nice lad from Miami, goes by the name of Dexter. Wish I could see myself as a Sean Bean type villain, but after way too long married more of a Dr (says) No these days
  3. Oi. I reckon I'm owed commission on that sale......:smt018
  4. A final input. 19C is making a fair point that LM may not be a first name that springs to mind when a neutral is asked to name their 5 legendary football managers of all time. But, when asked in the context of Southampton Football Club's 100 year + history, when asked to name the top 3 managers to have graced the club and given service or success then he falls down badly. We had the arguments about what constitutes "a Saints Legend" months ago. Franny is a legend - he scored a headed goal that is the stuff of legends. LM led us to Wembley and brought the European Player of the Year to Saints, stories that when told today to youngsters sound like the old Homeric Legends as they are so unbelievable. So what the context is different, I agree 19C's point with regard to the whole after dinner speaking circuit stuff, but LM & TB are without a doubt OUR best ever managers. Ignoring that simple fact and defending the argument with references to "other Club's" managers is actually not good debating tactics. We aren't Liverpool so comparing his recird to them is just well, not wise.
  5. Anywhere you take me & Eric... We're about all that's left here these days, Goodfellas down in Bur Dubai is where we used to find a few to watch the games, but with not being televised these days... In the PL days found about 6 in Harvesters at the Crowne Plaza all watching us beat the Spuds 4-1 Thought there were about 10 of us there but some turned out to be Gooners. Usual rules, PM either of us with the details, we'll give you the list of top spots and see if we are allowed out
  6. Let's face it, the only way the poor battered Sk8te fans are ever going to see somebody with billions at Nottarf Krap will be when some Vietnamese Shopkeeper from Hanoi turns up..... Billion Dong - whats that these days about $1,000 or so?
  7. Unfortunately, when you live in a foreign country, you have to adapt and understand some of the key cultural issues and customs. The Gulf states are renowned for their hospitality. So, as posted many times before, if we know forum regulars are coming Eric makes sure their plane gets diverted to Karachi... But seriously, we would find it offensive and in fact extremely non PC if you didn't contact us and let us know you were in town so we could do the tour thingy
  8. oops another day another Bond movie my bad.... Funny though, this place has never had a "tv culture" and yet this is the first time I ever recall people discussing that they watched the movie the night before and have not bothered going out - even been letters to the paper about it! Seeing the evolution unfold, even watching dear old Q's understated retirement in The World is not Enough having watched him galavanting around with VJ as a field operative a couple of nights before. Suddenly you realise, Timothy Dalton was a good Bond, just he had the wrong Jaw line and was never right. George Lazenby actually wasn't as bad as seemed at the time - he simply wasn't Connery, and Daniel Craig, perfect in the new films for the new era, but he simply doesn't have that little "touch of class" that made so many foreigners love Bond as well... Was Honour Blackman the best Bond girl? was it her "feisty independence" in those days or was it just the name. Still having the debate in the household here! One funny though, lots of the girls down here have managed to learn to do a fantastic impression of every Bond girl ever.... Ohhhhhhhh Jaaaammmeeeeesssss.... Somehow much better than when us blokes try and do the Connery - Bond, James Bond - impression
  9. Without a doubt, but even back then I would guess they needed a buddy/partner or somebody to bounce ideas off. I recall that even in the days of Shankly they still had their bootroom. I was just wondering, seemed like an area to debate, I suppose I could also have asked how important was having Ted Bates on hand to the success Lawrie had? I think in the early days when the fans didn't believe in Lawire, Ted must have been a huge rock helping and supporting him and making sure he kept believing in himself when idiots under the west stand were spitting at him as he walked to the dugout.
  10. Tomorrow never dies was Tuesday's offering. Had forgotten the scene where JB meets Robbie Coltrane for the first time in Robbie's bar... where his squeeze is dressed in a cowboy outfit singing the world's worst karaoke version of Stand by Your Man.... Was Minnie Driver, all 40 seconds of her
  11. Bournemouth Saint, came over to Dubai we all went off to meet him and He got distracted and went to some club full of Hosties Did he become an Original?
  12. Agreed. But to add some fuel to the debate.... LM was an outstanding success with us. He was not such a success elsewhere. When he was here he had a #2, who went on to have a successful if not outstanding career. He then returned and served the club quietly away from the limelight for many more years. So, how important, or how much was LM's success attributable to his work with John Mortimer? And is it not a shame that he has been largely forgotten in the greats debate?
  13. feck me I blogged that minutes ago and some lazy journo turns it into a story in the mirror...
  14. Nah it was pot stirring - just another way of getting in a cheap shot at our sk8temates on here... which would be more horrific for them - Rupes or Jacko taking over from Faraj as next week's owner. We did chat about it over a beer when I was in UK a few weeks ago - more lol'ing at the whole Sultan Bin Trump thing and at the lack of info on Ali de man, and how we wished we could have dreamt up such a long drawn out demise for them - we agreed we could never have come up with something as good as the reality! Oh and I know it isn't a widely held opinion on here, but even Jacko has SOME business acumen and some reputation - why'd he want to make it any worse by getting involved in THAT mess down there?
  15. No mention of Reality TV stars though, shame
  16. Seems like there are more leaks at Fratton Park than there used to be at SMS in the Exec wars days. Well spotted and congrats to your source 20 hours before it made the press. :smt046
  17. Oh, and another question Two blokes are sueing Gaydamark Snr for a lot of money And are expected to take over the football club for nothing. Just remind me which Gaydamark own(ed) the club? Oh I do hope there wasn't a bit of covering upshellcompanycreativeaccounting going on? Imagine the mess in the PL if THAT was the case, no wonder the PL want rid of the mess as well!
  18. BINGO! Pre-bloomin-cisely So, unless the newbies get the money sorted out even the oldies don't get their money, So then the oldies can claim the club back from the newbies and the bank can take over the lot of them
  19. Just to add to the level of smug self satisfied smirling on here, I liked this article about Newcastle sounded awfully familiar... I know it never lasts, but isn't it great, just for once, being amongst only a few supporters of clubs in the land that can be happy with our lot http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/sport/stevewilson/100002920/mike-ashleys-great-newcastle-united-gamble-looks-like-a-lottery/ Oh and well done to a poster yesterday with an ITK esque input that the final nail in the coffin may be ready to be hit with a hammer http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/portsmouth/6455476/Premier-League-ready-to-use-Portsmouths-TV-cash-to-pay-off-debts-to-other-clubs.html Skates playing Salisbury next season maybe?
  20. lol... spot on as well. At least can now get BBC WS on the Satellite System. Add to thos memories that we had to wait 2 days for the results to be printed in the papers and two WEEKS before Pakistan TV would show Match of the Day. Old Dubai FM - Phil Blizzard - nice bloke, didn't he run one of those depressing Friday night shows though? And the bloke who did the heavy metal show? made Whispering Bob Harris sound like Screaming Lord Sutch. Worst one was that Dave Crane bloke though.. (he never reads on here) - Mission Impossible - lol at the classic one with the "South East Asian female Teenager" smashing all her mum's best crockery set (worth 1500 quid) just so she could win a T-Shirt... Horrified many, caused a few car crashes though as everyone c*cked themselves laughing during the rush-hour
  21. Oh beautiful.... ..."He set New Zealand Football back by 10 years"... Finally, clear evidence that appointing SCW to run the Academy is NOT the most far fetched footballing appointment ever made. "Their Fawlty Towers period".... Spot on, Arabs & Israelis - can see it now - don't mention the war(s) the lolage continues, how nice it is to no longer be the laughing stock of footall
  22. Mate of mine is into the whole "how the brain works" and hypnotherapy. I must ask him one day how come when I remembered that music I can only picture dark winter nights and rain. Heck even when I remember being taken out to a pub with a garden in the summer for a much yearned for Bottle of Coke & a Packet of Salt & Shake, the minute we got back into the car that music was on and it was dark and raining.... And yes, you're right, the homework hadn't been done. Suppose the nearest equivalent for me these days would be having to spend a night in a club listening to Hip Hop which the locals love so much, but it doesn't have that feeling of horror. Think the only time I started to trust listening to the radio again was when The Hitch Hikers Guide was first broadcast, all of us sat round in college digs listening to that Oooh Garrry Davies - how lucky the younger generation are - lol
  23. OK local Sat channel is showing all the Bond movies from start to finish each night. No arguments about the best actor to play Bond, but who has been the best Bond girl..... Ursula Andress had the legendary moment, but tonight we watched The World is Not Enough with Sophie Marceau & Denise Richards... hmmmmm Thoughts/inputs?
  24. hmmm a cunning plan Baldrick, now all we need is someone with a perfect track record of takeovers. Are there any "Family farms" or "Petting zoos" near Porstmouth?...... time is getting close, the coup de grace should at least be administered (oh nice new meaning) by a former forum member
  25. Meanwhile, our younger readers should sit and listen to that every Sunday night at 7:01pm for a month and then you MAY just understand how FECKIN lucky you are
