  1. Welcome back and hang around a bit this time Taking your idea one step further, in the years of hurt I read many comments about the young kids not going, or wearing Manc tops in the parks. Now, from what many post on here, kids are returning (annoyingly squeaky I know) but they are coming. THEY are the fans who will carry the club into the furture when we are all long gone and it is great to hear of so many of them being hooked. A Yorkie for all would never get past Health & Safety (would the club be liable if we scored while someone was eating and choked?) but a goody bag for the kids just before Christmas? Kiddy only draws for autographs and stuff? For me the thankyou is the knowledge that ML & NC are in this for the Long Term. That'll do me, especially as I prefer Crunchie's.
  2. Hot news just in. Reports are coming in of interest from Hollywood in turning the recent Internet Wars into a new Summer 2010 Blockbuster. Apparently, Hollywood execs rejected earlier scripts based upon the demise of a small town English Soccer Team as being too far fetched. However the recent outbreak of hostilities between the two sets of fans is believed to attracted great interest. The movie will play around the central core of the change in fortunes of the two sides of the county of South Hamptonmouthshire, with tales of lynch mobs burning floating bridges and the introduction of increasingly aggressive attempts at Computer Hacking which eventually gained access to a secret server after the password Honeymoon was hacked. The subsequent release of 2,146 brown paper bags caused a major pollution scare and (according to the script) the accidental demolition of a soccer statdium when one of the bags caused a landing Harrier jump jet to veer off course and crash into an unoccupied car park near to a main line railway junction. A senior executive at a well known Hollywood studio said "we felt this story had far more believability than the tense action drama involving alleged gun running, reality television and secret Middle East peace talks"
  3. "I was made aware of the business opportunity in an email I received in April" The words as I recall them reported by the Echo and people on here and as stated by NC at the Fans Forum about a month ago. There was a thread on it. No speculation there, straight from the horses mouth (via a jouno at the Echo:rolleyes:)
  4. You know the really funny (and in character) reply would be Yes. Simply because the actual answer - no - doesn't belong on a comedy classic thread
  5. Like FF's Crossroads analogy. Does seem to me as if they are desperately seeking to buy time. The question has to be why? Carving up the assets in a bloodbath to leave a shell for the creditors? Some REAL white knight waiting in the wings? With the amazing pace of events, surely not even lawyers can react that fast to new agreements and contracts and bills of sale etc, who knows what "Corporate Governance" issues are being left in the trail of departing owners? As others said weird, compelling and using WSS's rules on humour, something we can take the p*ss out of and find funny!
  6. lol but in a way you're right and that's scary When did the planning start? April. When did NC look into us - April. Must have read this place and seen we could talk cr*p about things over than politics
  7. cheers Nick, put it so much better than me (as usual)
  8. Noted the edit Darren.. Now, there was a list of the names of the people who put money in to help save the club, there is also a list of volunteers who worked extremenly hard to do what they could with their resources and abilities to save the club. The club was saved, EVERYONE of them deserve credit. Who's VALUE is the greater? The kid who puts ALL his pocket money in? or the Businessman who can write it off against tax as "PR expenses, charitable donations. Every ONE who helped or gave WHAT THEY COULD AFFORD is surely equal. Now my two issues are nothing to do with this. They are simply 1) It is extremely risky, but legally possible to "lend" money to a business in administration. This is a subtle difference to the view held on here of a"DONATION" If the business exits administration then there is often a quid pro quo for the lender who gets their money back. I am of the opinion that this MAY have happened. Nothing to do with personalities or motivations, simply analysis. I have asked for anyone with a coherent argument to the contrary 2) Leon joined forces with Pinnacle, Pinnacle delayed and nearly lost us ML. Pinnacle who clearly had no money miraculously appeared to "pay" a non-refundable deposit of 500k as Leon joined the team. How on EARTH can we fans not at least QUESTION whether his joining Pinnacle delayed or risked ML taking over? Now, Leon the PR expert saved the day, and built the statue hooray he is a hero, totally unarguably . Leon the Politician/Businessman backed Mike Wilde, backed Pinnalce and, based on the knowledge from contacts in insolvency law, will not have lost the money used to save the club. Has anyone not thought maybe he chooses to stay away because he expected ML to give him a hug, Directorship and a freebie seat? It is an equally POSSIBLE scenario.
  9. Oh they were all around not so long ago. HMR seemed to have developed a few issues that made 19C seem like MLT's biggest fan Luckily we will never hear their like again.
  10. :D:D Was meant to show some smirking grinning things. Nobody impressed anyone more than the guy who flew over from Norway for the forum match. I just blagged a freebie, that guy just did it under his own steam AND drank Hamster under the table.
  11. Was using your post to emphasise the point had spotted it thanks Ho hum, well used to getting sh*t for other people's decisions, been like that all my working life! so clearly not my fault, it is a corporate policy statement in their wonderful business plan that they are successfully using to get us back into the upper echelons of English football Shame they all missed the respect our history and look to the future angle. On the plus side must be the first time for weeks we almost had an argument on here!
  12. Leon has lost the money he paid to OTHER people to buy his shares (note he did not buy the shares from teh club but from shareholders) That is sad, I agree. However, as I have pointed out on numerous occassions there is a lot of detail regarding what happened during the admin period that has never been discussed on here as we have rightly focused on the successful OUTCOME. It is feasible and common during admin of a company for funds to be injected with terms and conditions attached. My reading, analysis, and discussions with insolvency practitioners leads me to believe that Leon, in all likelihood did NOT lose money on funds he used to save the club. I would LOVE to see proof if I am wrong and will say sorry, no problemo, however I have held that opinion all the way through. Mike Wilde lost money, so did many many Saints fans, should they all be given a free ticket? Leon can still afford one, I think some would be better arguing for the fans who lost money to get a free ticket than somebody who doesn't need to save the 100 quid for hospitality. The MINUTE anybody starts judging the eligibilty of a "person connected to Saints history" to get a free ticket they could pay for when others cannot without ANY set of criteria other than "opinion is talking BS. What about fans who are now out of work but attended 90% of all our games for 20 years? are they less worthy? C'mon guys. The policy and my opinion is simple, THEY ARE ALL WELCOME, but they PAY for a ticket in the NEW Southampton.
  13. Whoa there Carlin. I was simply repeating what the new Owner/Management team said very early on. Anyone is welcome at SMS but they buy their own tickets. As for Leon helping the club, yes he helped us survive the first few weeks of admin. However, it has already been a consensus on here that the Pinnacle fiasco harmed our chances this season, have some on here forgotten that Leon became a part of Pinnacle? Yes he helped, yes he has a place, but he also screwed up TWICE. He backed Pinnacle and he backed Mike Wilde. He lost his investment in the shares he bought with Wilde, but from everything that I heard and saw at the time, he did not lose anything he put in after admin. It was not a pathetic post, it was a repeat of what our owner said. Everyone is welcome at SMS, all sins forgiven but everyone buys their own ticket
  14. Phew panic over, couple of School mates, one who pops up in Deacons occassionally when I am home and one I haven't heard from in decades
  15. This sort of OTT optimism worries me. I had to log off the site for 5 minutes to check my airmiles. Answer is One Wembley and One Forum rematch.... Unless........ Now THERE's an idea Granty/Baj..... But only if they let us have a Jaigerbomb in the Dressing Room afterwards
  16. Been bugging me ALL day. I know I drove up in my mum's Morris Marina Estate, but for the life of me cannot remember who I went with... Maybe the Rat & co That's worrying
  17. Oh DO please let Mark Fry get the job. I know he isn't held in great regard on here, but i do know a Saints fan who is respected by Mr Fry. I think the Summit consortium (or maybe Nadir) may be one of the first bidders for the Skates in admin, we could string this out for months!
  18. OK b*gger off to the other thread. The latest news from a source The players were called together after the match to be told it was unlikely they will be paid next Friday and they may have to wait until the middle of November There is a meeting with HMRC sometime next week, but they were due to pay PAYE on 19th of October (my birthday). Apparently they were told if they don't keep up to date and keep their HMRC debt "stagnant" there could be problems this week.. lol This comes from the bloke who washes the windscreens of the Harriers on the Aircraft Carriers when they are stopped at the lights on the way out the harbour. So how much is their monthly wage bill? They have to find around 50% of that due to the high earnings Wow, looks like their TV revenue in the BSQ in 5 years time is also now screwed
  19. Some of us worry that the forum dies a little every day, as I think you do. Perhaps ot was the ITK days that started the rot, but I do think it is pretty darned important that it keeps going. Times are changing, care with the legacy is needed by all of us and the Mods. Slowly more people are coming back, 6 pages on a post match thread is unusual and people have sensible opinions to post. Also, you & I must be pretty high up the Skate Hate list these days for calling it as it was so was motivated to stop everyone else spoiling our fun on THAT thread. Most fun we've had since the takeover thread days! UP was an opinionated a*se at times, and could often snap, but if everyone was the same the world would be a damned dull place, hell the change in Alpine this past month has been almost a religious experience
  20. Leon will not have lost any money "pumped in during administration" His absence is more likely to be down to "backing the wrong horse" History. It belongs in museums now, we are Southampton 2009, we cherish our history that got us to where we are now, but we look forwards to a future, not backwards. good bye and good riddance. Lawrie was also, in his later years, a politician. We don't have those anymore, we have achievers. He has a place in our hearts and in the stand as would MLT and Big Ron and Micky Channon and anyone else. But they are a part of US now, outsiders, no longer up there as Lords of the Manor. I'm sure if Lawrie wants to buy a ticket for the Directors Box (As per ML's policy) he will be made welcome by all of us. Remember our past, build on it, but look to the future
  21. Nah, because we'll get the Mancs again in the 3rd Round and by then, this time, we will scare the cr*p out of them.
  22. I like this. So far this season after a shaky start it is about laying old ghosts to rest. That is what we now have the chance to do, that "turnaround in fortunes" will make it the story which the TV likes. And we will deliver. Very very nice, the final exorcism.
  23. I like that, haven't seen it before
  24. Many have passed this way. Some have shown us their ability to adopt an internet persona par excellence. Some have shown us what Ben The Legends they were. May we use this to mourn our departed and debate how the evil Blofeld managed to infiltrate the Mods and ensure that balanced opinion was replaced by barbed one liners (and eyebrow movement in the Moore era) God Bless UP for his ability, yes, at least once in his 18,976,432 posts he did concede a debating point. To Navyred who we beat to death for his kids not being ready and everything being their fault when we all really knew who it was. And of course to the magnificent Mods who allowed our own versions of the Asbo earners to reach the platforms only normally afforded to Nick Griffin. Why doesn't anyone say why UP left, after all he won't know, he's left?
  25. Oi, ENOUGH ALREADY. STOP IT This thread is specifically designed to 1) Show that FF's ITK source was correct and 2) DP sometimes is able to say things that aren't completely sh*t. In addition, it is THE singular most important literary work in the recent history of Southampton FC allowing it's long suffering fans an outlet for and source of some of the greatest humour since, well Dave Allen Tommy Cooper and Not the Nine O'Clock News, hell, maybe even since the Young Ones. I have created an UP appreciation thread so that we may continue the battle versus admin in an appropriate place, this thread is WAY too valuable to be hijacked, Historians and our Children will read this and see the true story of the Story at Nottarf Krap
