  1. You may think that sir, but I couldn't possibly comment
  2. Media in the UK report the news they feel will generate sales revenue for their companies by increasing circulation and hence advertising sales rates. Their stories are tinted by 1) Their "political" or "market position" view, and the UK's legislation In "some" parts of the world the media is not so unencumbered. It is hard to have a "political position" in a region where "politics" does not exist... So, "some" media in "some" parts of the world can tend to publish what is in their interests to publish, rather than in what sells papers..... It used to be rare in Britain but I think these days you call it spin, in the days of Lord Haw Haw it tended to be called propaganda. "Some media" call it doing what they are told. So, it could be that this is a general interest story in Saudi. Or it could be that the "mis-match" of messaging is actually a means of expressing some "concerns" on an issue. Saudi's employing Israelis, and the appearance of sudden malcontent being spread by media in Saudi which adds to the woes... I couldn't possibly see any link, nor could I possibly comment on anything like that. HTH
  3. I've acted in a Hollywood movie alongside Hugh Grant, and been to SMS once this season so far, does that count? As an extra, along with just about every cricketer they could find in the Wilton area on a cold and frosty weekday in November about 20 something years ago........) 15 quid for the day, a free haircut and a bacon sandwich. (you need the widescreen version of the DVD to see me though - on screen for almost an entire 4 seconds)
  4. Thanks for reminding me, was about 15 yards in and 5 yards to the left of it, reminds me of how that was the first time I ever drove through Central London on the way home! Ah bless, a pointless thread has proved useful
  5. There is a subtle but critical point here that you miss. pardew was not hoping for survival, he wants instant success and is now delivering it..he did/does not want a season of "consolidation" This is totally and completely true. The absolutely critical issue now however is that while nobody wants/wanted a season of consolidation, we did not gamble our entire future on getting the instant success. ie We want it, we think we can get it, but let us be sure that if we do not then next year we are still around, can keep the players and go that extra step. Which is clearly the opposite of what we did when we went Wilde, and what the idiots down the road have done. Which is also very refreshing, we have a Plan A off the pitch but just in case it was needed we thought it through and have a Plan B, Just in case. As for the OP link, well written, reminded me of us lot a year ago listening to the "Churchillian Speeches" on the OS week in week out.
  6. What's daylight saving? Some new dodgy Banking Investment scheme? Time flies, it doesn't go backwards or forwards - otherwise we'd have gone back to get ML onboard while we were still in the PL
  7. The problem Al Faraj faced was "nobody knows him" This then becomes "he will have no leverage in the political or business community" Which then becomes "He is bringing The Magic Kingdom into disrepute" Which then becomes "succumbed unexpectly to a serious and rapid attack of Swine Flu" If Saudi media printed the story, there was a very good reason for it, it was most likely not done to sell newspapers. oops
  8. Oh you bad bad people... These are Americans we're talking about, they'll think you're serious
  9. Well, makes sense, sure it would be easier to commute from Parkhurst allegedly
  10. When the head of the Saudi FA said no one he knew had ever heard of Al Faraj..... Now c'mon, be honest, has ANYONE ever heard of this week's owner. Sweepstake on who gets to own them next week anyone?
  11. Carlsberg don't do Press Statements about Football Club owners giving interviews, but if they did Goodbyee, don't cryee, wipe a tear baby dear from your eyee. May this finally cause the PL to do something and SORT THEIR SH*T out. OK it is the Sk8tes but honestly, no human (apart from Westwood) deserves all this OK sorry too strong, no football supporter ever needs this crap again. But THEY do
  12. Smug grin at this end..... Well, I do believe that I pointed out that last week's owner was a reality TV star (in his own mind) Feck, we thought 3 managers in a season was bad, 3 OWNERS... And for everything else there is Mastercard
  13. I swear to God that even over a lot of beers with EricofArabia we couldn't have managed to come up with more stupendous twists and turns than this. Feck me, waiting for new owners at Nottarf Krap is like waiting for a bus, nothing happens then 3 new owners in a week. So has Al Faraj bought the club and sold it again? Have these guys won control by simply suing Daddy. (How would THAT one play out at the PL) In the photo Story looks like he was told the only way to save the club was to place some of his fingers into the right spot of his potential new owner. I don't speak Arabic but I can read exactly what Al-Faraj's Brother is saying - habla habla dirka dirka jihad jihad which translates as WTF has that idiot kid bro done now. Oh and I also note that Avram Grant is two timing the Sk8tes, obviously they cannot pay him so he is also now working in the movies as the photo shows he is now starring in the remake of the Invisible Man Two things have to happen here The fun must last longer Dave Richards at the PL must be publicly shot for meddling You know, when I hatched the plan over a beer after the forum game, I had NO idea it would pan out like this. oops ok that was a joke honest, don't think even Monty Python could have come up with a script like this one, way above my abilities! ROFL honestly ROeffingL
  14. One moment, easily countered by the play-off game in Rome though. In some ways he was a Paul Wotton, did a really effective job for the team in one role, and when he played we were better for it. He was never the creative one or a winger, he was just a nasty niggly piece of work. Been a few games since when we could have done with that. But in my defence I did point out that calling him a cn*t was affording him too much credit (Anyway I missed that Kraut game, was in jail in Yemen as my visa was all screwed up so I have an excuse!)
  15. Oh, for the record Ince was a rock for England. As a person and certainly as a manager he seems to leave a little to be desired, and I think it may be a tad unfair on cn*ts in general to give him such a high rating in life
  16. For me as I posted on the post match thread, this is the BEST news I've heard for a while. Our tippy tappy game last season looked great until the opposition worked us out. In this league the pitches will not be good in the winter and slick passing moves won't always work (but did at Southend) Having the extra weapon tactically to use hoofball is great, it is just there when we really need it. We can score hoofball and we can score magic 6 pass moves. Ain't life grand!
  17. Sounds like many of you lot will need the extra hour in bed tonight after all the celebrating:-) Some thoughts based on the MK commentators and my analyst hat 1st half formation - really important we just squeezed the life out of them, so often we heard about 2 Saints players closing down 1 MK player. Tactical change - after the moans after Swindon, either AP has learnt or more likely the players have had the chance to understand what they need to do in each formation. BUT, for me looking ahead to the winter, possibly the BEST news are the claims of Hoofball. We now have two plans with our formations. I worried our passing game may not work on muddy or hard winter pitches, but if we are now squeezing the opposition to death, sometimes mixing hoofball and passing game then we could be in for a VERY good winter.. Damn, this run has got me looking at my airmiles account. Oh, EoA spent a lot of time talking to my mate from Syria at my b'day party - obviously he got a delivery of the dodgy Vega (Viagra) clone...... One thing to check after this run - bet Southampton General Maternity unit gets busy in April, careful chaps (and chapesses)
  18. See I TOLD YOU, DP has 2-1 in the Prediction league and so of course we were going to get a last second third goal We are on the move Poor scoreline though I mean 3-1 is our standard away score these days should be doing better at home
  19. They mistake Trottman for Lallana, and Jaidi scored Wow, there lies a whole week load of nonPC comments
  20. KD turns down the chance to kick at an open goal to waste some time - lol
  21. 4 mins added
  22. MK commentators can't see us getting beat at home again this season... Now we're screwed
  23. Connolly misses from 2 yards out
