  1. Yes another one Lambo free kick
  2. ricochet from an Aldershot foot? WTF is this muppet commentator on?
  3. I wish to register my displeasure that we have failed to score from Open Play so far and have had to rely on a perfectly executed corner.... We scored from a CORNER!!?? Holy Krap, when did we remember how to do that? Oldham player in leg brace and stretcher sub coming on
  4. Ah THERE you are. Don't you check your emails??!! Grand Hyatt Oktoberfest Monday and on to Seaview maybe?
  5. Wow HP Photosmart 9053 is one slow printer But Who cares when Hammond scores!
  6. Horrific start fell asleep almost concede in 1st min Harding saving tackle corner then nasty knock on Harding writhing in agony now hobbling
  7. We have the former leader of China on the bench? Old one I know but hey 7 minutes of good mood left before we kick off
  8. Dinosaurs aren't extinct, they did evolve and can bee seen regularly at Nottarf Krap. The Lost Wisdom of the Ancients, like the lost treasures of that time, surely they cannot ALL have fallen down the back of the sofa? You see up pops Dan Brown again, Dead Sea Scrolls and why did they burn the Great Library in Alexandria?
  9. Lawrie was hated and reviled in his early days when we got relegated, fans under the West Stand regularly spat at him, such was the hatred, he simply continued to walk with great dignity to the bench. Lowe was initially welcomed by many. His arrival co-incided with the hope that the days of being an old boys club may help to launch us into the realms of the real world inhabited by the bigger clubs. Exploiting the multi-media revenue opportunities of the internet before other major clubs was a part of his vision for glory I made the point before, history has a habit of forcing selective memories to change. And history makes a habit of changing perspectives And finally, in aiming to assess if Lowe was one of the worst Chairmen, ie the EXACT wording of the title, then you have a clear problem. What IS the role of a CHAIRMAN? By what criteria is a chariman judged? If he chairman of a PLC then he is judged on his results. Those are not the results on the pitch but the results on the accounts. Did he return a profit for the shareholders? Measure the number of years he returned a good performance versus other chairmen in football. Did he secure value for the shareholders? Yes for a long time he did, however he ultimately FAILED in that duty by taking strategic decisions that helped to cause the destruction of the PLC. Now in real business, that would not be the fault of the Chairman alone, that would be the fault of the SHAREHOLDERS who appoint the chairman. Was Lowe worse than Godwin? The succession of idiots at British Leyland, Marconi, Clive Sinclair et al..... So, perhaps the best description of Lowe would be Almost the worst person to have ever tried to run a Football Club in England, just slightly not as bad as Michael Wilde
  10. lol at the description Ron. feel free to pop by anytime, I recommend a fleece and a sleeping bag, my spare one hasn't been used for so many years now and the gas fire's a bit tempermental take care of the large & surprisingly deep puddle just before you get to the 2nd Sprite Major on the left on the site overlooking Cromer
  11. I'm another who remembers Oldham as being freezing, stuck up the back corner of an old wooden stand. Difficult place, such a typical "alien environment" "Northern Town" for us country folk They have a solid team, have this down as 1-1, and injuries/jet lag permitting expect AP to keep the same team as Southend with Melis back onto the bench
  12. Well, one thing is for sure, if it is really all about Ham, then Portsmouth are truly in trouble. No Ham Sandwiches or Pork Pies allowed in the Boardroom any longer
  13. Oh Lord, that interview is priceless... I saw it as a good investment - lol at wearing the shirt I sold it for a profit - lol first time anything with the name PFC related to it has made a profit in years.. and my favourite There will be more deals soon in this regard - YES, he's gonna asset strip the whole of English Football. He failed to develop the club - JEEZ who was this guy? New stadium in 6 weeks? Finding 25,000 new supporters - Good grief But hang on, they had financial trouble And yet some bloke has come in and within 6 weeks made a profit And the club's officers were doing WHAT exactly during this time. It goes on and on and on and on and on and on Something like 12 million profit for 6 weeks of marketing bs, hell that's what I call working for a living... As I posted once before, Chris Ryan's latest book, page two SAS rules of engagement in Iraq rule 1 Never Trust a ***head Why Sky and the Premier League have destroyed football with Greed. Lesson to be learnt here, when seeing a new owner sitting in the stands wearing a club shirt - be afraid, be VERY afraid.
  14. Arizona & Saintbobby cover this, but in simple terms for those who were on vacation at the time. If you have more debts than you can pay you go bankrupt or "into administration" An ad is placed in the paper and a queue of people turn up and haggle with a market trader. The opening bid is usually 10pence in the pound, then a few tricks are pulled by both sides. Clapham is our resident online tech support on the subject, but in admin, unless you hold a very clear deed as a creditor, you will not get "much" if any of your money back. ML & NC may be many things, but they aren't fools. The "VALUE EXTRACTED" by the administrator may well be in ther region of 13-15mil, but that may still not relate to the figure that came out of their bank account. The purchase price for the football club will technically have been the grand sum of one pound. That can be proven by finding one of the many small ex-shareholders amongst our fans (who were the previous owners) and asking them how much money they received when they stopped owning the "bits of business that owned the club"
  15. Strangely, experience teaches differently Food - nah - Pret a Manger Ham & Brie is often WAY better than BA's long haul pasta (hey it's a BRIT airline serve BRIT FOOD - and how come you can choose special meals for everything EXCEPT "Red Meat Only"?) Movie - ok if the system works you watch a film, but ACTUALLY as half of all long haul flights are overnight what you REALLY want is silence and a few sherberts to help you sleep But, the number one thing, the ONLY real worry on long haul is..... You do NOT want some person next to you that had LOTS of Garlic in a CURRY for dinner last night, nothing else comes close to making 9 hours hell.... (Try a flight that stops off or connect through Mumbai one day, Ryanair is HEAVEN)
  16. Uh, no not exactly nor even close, that he did not do. Going back to my point, and The Delldays is actually partially correct even IF we judge Lowe today. We tried to move to West Quay (anyone esle old enough to remember the delerium post Wembley pre-Lowe when we all expected to be in a 40,000 stadium at West Quay? On that point at least. Lowe "found a way" to deliver. Now, whether you accept that as a positive note or not, the FACT is that ML was able to buy/inherit the stadium. Now, when we were in admin, the Stdium was a major benefit in the Salespack that attracted ML (not withstanding MC's email of course) Would ML have bought us if we were an L1 team at the Dell? So, take care in the points used to promote the evilness of the Dark Lord, TDD is actually correct, Lowe delivered SMS. OK so we couldn't afford it when we lost Prem Status and his decisions led to that, but no, SMS is an intrinsic piece of the jigsaw that got us to where we are today. No SMS, no ML - it was a path, karma, fate, every action got us to that point. What the FUTURE brings is far more intersting of course
  17. He forgot the s on the end for the plural version.... Which leads us swiftly on to B'day party night - Oktoberfest & Seaview
  18. Wow, your own OP solves all your problems. You answered it yourself. Lawrie ONLY earns 3-5k as an after dinner speaker. Pretty poor effort that for a professional Motivational Speaker, heck, wouldn't even cover the airfare to the event. Whether HE merits the title is irrelevant, Marketing Bullsh!t requires such language to be used by the ORGANISERS of an event in order to attract the correct number of "Black Ties" Now, post one of his personal promotional adverts or personal leaflets saying this, well that's another issue, but for an orgainser trying to juggle a low cost name to attract people, marketing rules. Many on here have Great marketing tags Trousers - The Leading light in Internet Detection Skills Saint Stevo - Leader of the campaign to make Soccer stadiums Crutch Friendly Alpine - The voice of caution Master Bates - Without doubt the finest supporter of Bewbs in the land Nickh - The man who knows the true feeling of pain Minty - Probably the leading Sports Action photographer in the country Saint David - The man that all ITK'ers aspire to match Why even one of our local stars EricofArabia - The Man who makes sure it gets up safely Arizona - The Man who loves his football club SO much he must move house every week just so that they can win and so on and so on. All could be used as marketing bs to get punters to pay to sit around pretending to be Sean Connery in their Tux's and pretending the Chilean Cab Sav with the dry pan burnt Fillet is actually drinkable. Me, meh, They turn up to see Dubai Phil. The man who holds up the mirror. Must be some more (polite ones)
  19. Based on all the evidence available in the public domain today Lowe. If I had to vote today, certainly as others say in the top 10 or higher. If we look back at a snapshot of today from 10 years in the future. May find other candidates and may tweak the search to include owners. Not defending Lowe, but history may show Gaychap, The Iceland bloke, The Liverpool duo and others being up there. Hopefully though, this will be the last time anyone ever opens a thread on here knowing the bleedin obvious answer to a debate that has been done to death. If your life is still worried about Lowe I suggest a call to the Samaritans
  20. Strangely getting back to the relevance of the forum Trousers - Oh good grief, you must be the only person on the planet who doesn't know the answer to this, think it is between pages 187 and 204, Lost Symbol, Dan Brown, if not it's somewhere in the pyramid. It believes it answers everything else... Except for 42, which is being published later this week as the 6th part of the Trilogy. Please keep up. You ever been to Alleppo? Some great restaurants in view of the Citadel, home to some of the bloodiest examples of the problems caused by the extreme believers of two intransigent religions who believe their view on Life the Universe and Everything is the right one. View things as a historian in 2200 years time finding an old back up tape from the Forum Server and building a whole new religion based on the teachings of "The Happy Clappy's" and somebody else arguing that the Anti's were right. Hanging non believers from a Bridge coated with Itchen Powder, a whole new take on the legend of Adam and eve(n) the Papa. Why, from here they'd even find a new dark side populated by a new evil Dark Lord, The Muppet (adroitly swerves to avoid offending any posters). Monty Python got stick at the time but they hit a good nail on the head, the world's culture is based upon "What some bloke said", followed by a few loonies insisting their bloke was more right than the other one. Just look at "Fervour" and how it affects people's point of view on here -how the sk*tes fail to see the reality of their current situation despite the facts, or the MLT is the anti-christ, NP vs AP. Understand why that happens and you understand the world. It's sod all use in helping to get us 3 points tomorrow though. Unless it helps you understand the way that the mind works and helps you influence that to gain just that little more "focus, desire and faith". Then things get interesting.
  21. What a lot of people don't realise is that with Britain's "asylum meal ticket" attitude, many, many people were branded as being extremist "fanatics" down here. Their brand of hate filled bile was too much even for the more strict Wahibi regimes in Saudi. They preached Jihad, they demanded that all the moderate, good local citizens were sheep and must rise up and destroy "The Infidels". So the authorities arrested them, and harrassed them and demanded that they stop. Instead they fled Sauid, Yemen, Iran etc and went to the UK, where you welcomed them with open arms, allowed them to build their own Mosques and if anyone commented that they were preaching hatred and war, those complainers were arrested and harrassed by the British "PC" forces. People down here couldn't understand it, yet it spawned suicide bombers and most importantly it spawned the barriers that led to rise of counter extremist views, the complete opposite of what the "Commission for Racial Equality" was supposed to have done. If somebody preaches hate in a Church or a Mosque they should have been arrested and if they were from abroad they should have been deported. You guys started to react 20 years too late. The damage is done, the Sharia issue is just one more step on the assimilation of the Western Culture to one where the fanatics want us all to live in mud huts and pray 5 times a day while growing drugs to pay for them to retain their power. All in the name of religion. Rant over
  22. It wasn't rocket science... When you consider that Dubai (where Al Fahim lives) CANCELLED New Year's Eve a couple of years ago because of the Israeli's invading Gaza so we could all "mourn" together..... You don't need to be a career Diplomat to understand that ALL they panic about over there is who might have some money, and not what happens the day before it gets paid into the bank
  23. Ah the Israeli issue.... How did almost everyone outside of Sk8tesmuff see that one coming and yet they didn't? Keep it coming guys.
  24. Jason Dodd? Bath City wasn't it?
  25. Trust you... The Road to Damascus is amazing If you drive down from Crac des Chevaliers coming from the coastal resort of Lattakia No, really, in the context of this thread it IS amazing. It takes you past places that you had "force read" into you during RE at school. Suddenly the whole Story starts to come alive. Just finding for yourself that these places really existed is a shock to the system Could rant on about it, (but I truly cannot add anything to this thread other than praise for the quality of the work on here) humbled
