Radio Shows that horrified you when you were Young

We sort of got adopted by the Tortoises, starting about 9 years ago. he was tiny but a mean ball of energy, he could climb the steps into the kitchen and would bumble around the ceramic tile floor all skiddy like. So we called him Rambo. He even comes to you if you call his name (as long as it isn't snooze time (they snooze more than cats do that's for sure) Found one all lost on the beach about 2 years later, bigger but he was a bit the worse for wear, so he moved in, climbing all over the place, he was named Razor. The final one we found in our driveway about 6 years ago, he was of course called Ruddock. Ruddock disappeared from an enclosed Garden with a 6 ft surrounding wall, we heard later he was adopted by the school next door so he tunneled down 2 feet to get under the foundations, travelled about a metre and dug his way to the top again. Rambo & Razor woke up about 3 weeks ago, they currently demolish 1/3 of a lettuce, a local grown cucumber and 1/4 an apple a day. The GF moved in with her Persian cat, he was full of beans and Mr Inquisitve, trying to play with them when they woke up, He obviously took a Ninja style whack as he now hides in the bush out the way when the lads march up for their breakfast and lunch. On the old songs, About 8 years ago now, the Friday Brunch to Karaoke to Party started at the old Highland Lodge (now Chi). The party was ALWAYS started with Ernie & his Milkcart and good old Adge Cutler always followed soon after.... We tended to go once a month just to get away from Country & Western Friday night - as EoA already explained -
Hot news just in from Yas Marina. Apparently the cleaners found 47 people still fast asleep in the stands having been that way since Friday Practice. More follows after I get the linky thing to Time Out Abu Dhabi working properly

I happen to think that Paul Wotton is not a very good footballer. IMHO he was brought in as PR in our crazy experiment on a long but not THAT cheap contract However, he is OUR footballer and he is currently performing a role in the team which has led to us being unbeaten in 5 league games. I think when Murty comes back it is likely we could see James moved into the role as none of our other midfielders are up to it, and Gillett somehow managed to get himself out of the picture. Now that we have found 2 working formations, I expect we will see a DM targetted in January, and Wotton will revert to his role of cover. After all, we are a L1 team and having 2 world class DM's to cover each other may just be a tad ambitious. So, while there is no other option in the squad, in the formation that our manager has chosen to play, anyone getting at him during a match or elsewhere is having a go at my team or our manager.

Just tell him us lot here in Dubai really enjoy watching him on DST in the pubs as we can't get it here. And then ask him IF they are planning to show any L1 (or the JPT) games this season down there as nobody else here is and at least we can then trundle off for some beers to watch the games and see him! Would save me & EoA a lot of googling through the arabic schedules (we have over 1,000 FTA channels down here and nothing on)

The Ying Tong Song by the Goons? Hey Hammy - you must pop round sometime, the Tortoises are out of their summer hibernation thingy they do. I've been watching Dexter and understand now how young kids get traumatised and need to revisit this sort of stuff. I even think I know someone with a large female Russkie friend/problem who could help out, hope you won't mind if I pop down to Abu Dhabi while you 4 are getting it together though, too weird for my tastes -
Why is there a fat Russian girl on my sofa? NSFW (again Dog)

Put her on a train to Nottarf Krap Arabs love two things Russian Women Large Women Then call NotW to recover the cost of the food she's eaten and of course, the compensation for your anguish and the commission for the idea Sorted -
Well, in wonderful post PC Britain, King is obviously a victim and should receive our total support, the country should pay for his legal fees to sue his nasty employer for cancelling his contract. In fact the people he harmed should be locked up and the key thrown away for enticing him into trouble. Meanwhile in America, 3 strikes and out rule would apply, discussion would be over. Down here - hahaha - just the thought of a Ramadan in the local Al Aweer Hilton would have stopped all of that attitude on day one. Personally you guys should introduce the American system, what you pay in extra taxes for the prisons would be well offset by the reduction in insirances costs and compensation/injruies claims.

It is actually amusing to read the "outrage" in this thread.... Football in general & King especially are badly tarnished goods with moral standards driven by greed and ego. Unfortunately, where those two evils exist, then as Gordon Gecko showed, who cares what means you use to achieve MORE money and MORE ego? The only ones who care are those with moral standards or those who get hurt (ie us) If King is a player who could make a club better then he will get a game for someone. Should he or his like play for us, morally, of course no fecking way. But if he was the only available player out of contract, 3 weeks to the end of season and our strikers were all injured and came in and scored the goal in the Playoff final that got us to the PL a year earlier would we actually applaud him ? Probably... Sad indictment of football. Personally I think we now have Leaders with a sense of wisdom who wouldn't do anything like this... I believe there is no way he should even be allowed into our ground when playing for an opposing team..... Unless there really was no other choice. And that's what is wrong with much of the world these days

Going back to the OP, it has always been so. Terry Paine - Booed cries of Feck off you're past it, one trick pony towards the end of his time here. Steve Williams - Booed, slammed for being a greedy little Cn*t, missing countless opportunities for the final ball and trying to beat one man too many - again. Lawrie Mac walking to the dugout in his first season with spit dripping down his back Alan Ball - regularly booed in his last season, almost the whole ground howled for him to be taken off in the 5-5 draw with Coventry when we had already used our sub after he needlessly gave the ball away and they scored (he made up for it scoring direct from the kickoff) Franny Benali - Utter Sh8Te groans when he was picked, Under West Stand repeated shouts of you're rubbish and FFS pick someone who can pass - you colour blind you idiot , we're in RED Terry Curran - well he DID deserve it 1 cross into the box in his time with us Branfoot - enough said. Jim Magilton - Sideways Jim Jimmy Case - (see Terry Paine) to name but a few It IS a Saints thing, something happens and the crowd get at you and it sticks. Years later you cannot believe it, but it did happen.

Yarp, but I thought that Kiwis used every chance they had to take the p*ss out of the Aussies :D:D

Rather than resting players, it's also important to give squad players some match practice. IMHO one of our failings under previous regimes was the permanent chopping and changing, never getting a settled side and never giving anyone long enough to get match fit. We have to face up to the fact that we will lose players through suspension and injury so the likes of Mellis, Thomas and (even) Perry need some game time so that for the League games they are sharp and ready. Maybe a gentle rotation rather than a wholesale "resting". Some of the players will be carrying "minor knocks" which the rest will do good, and some players just need to play every week. In AP we trust. Meanwhile did I read something about televised game? time for me & Eric to start googling global sat listings to see if it is on in some obscure pub showing Botswana TV or something

thanks

Of course, if you live in Aus, you can just go into the bathroom at your local pub and buy a pack of Pheromone Wipes in the vending machine. Don't know which is funnier, the idea that Aussie Blokes think they will work or the idea that they actually need them to exude any appeal to the opposite sex.

Reading this, the evening with MLT and the Big Ron updates makes me realise how much good this forum could actually achieve if we could get our act together. I'm no real help being down here to you guys doing the running around and organising, but I just wondered, with the recent discussions about our history, old players and those in need, maybe a spin off from the old Saints in The Community project could be set up, some sort of "Help the Heroes" fund. Justifying a benefit game at SMS for Big Ron is a really worthwhile idea, but on it's own, even with our memories may struggle. Perhaps a benefit game to launch a fund for old players in need would be a more long term and sustainable ideal. Then when you guys get going and start to put together Golf Days etc for individual causes you have a vehicle ready to go, mail lists and full support of the club. It would need a push from the Echo I expect as much as from our (these days) weaker voice, but worth some thought. Anyone got Adam Leith's number?

The more you all comment the more it hides the original statement guys. If you don't see that then you've lost the argument. In the world of internet personas, he's probably rubbing his hands with glee that he stirred you all up again. If he was a human (which he has shown from time to time such as with his donation to Hypo) then he will pop back and accept he used the wrong time and place and apologise. Everyone can have an opinion, even if it's wrong. Some people have convictions and stick with them some get convicted. While we may wish that to happen, this thread should just be closed and made a sticky to remind us that some things in life are worth more than scoring debating points. Just accept it, this was his biggest mistake. Move on

There was an Aussie Impresssionist called The Twelth Man. His forte was to do a spoof of the Aussie "Wide World of Sports" show, which went on to be a spoof of most things to do with Cricket Commentators. His funniest was doing Richie Benaud reporting on an Allan Border era test against India, totally non-PC but the names were very funny (pm for some but I don't want to be breaking no rules with all the mods on this thread) Anyway, in his Wired World of Sports version circa the 80's the "Studio" went over to Murray Walker reporting on a GP... A few lead in jokes about James Hunt (RIP) and the punchline I still recall every time I watch a GP these days.... These F*cking cars just keep f*cking going round and f*cking round it's so f*cking boring... In a perfect Murray impression it summed up F1 of late. Will try and find the link How true, someone should find the clip

That's aboout the 4th time the book has been referenced this week. You sure you're not on commission from FF for a reprint or something But yes, the Golden Age, days full of excitement and Pride at being a Saints fan. May they soon be back at the TOP level. And yes I am in agreement that the sooner ALL sugar daddy's at all clubs are gone then football will become real again, but it won't happen and we have our own who we are happy with and long may we be one of the lucky ones!

Mick Mills, Jason Dodd & Paul Telfer, all good solid Right Backs and all lacking in pace. Doddsy came in young and also looked "shakey" in his early days (competition with Jeff Kenna I recall at the time) James is still young and stll learning. The IMPORTANT point is that he is actually improving. What is critical is that he keeps learning and getting better. At least that way we know we have good cover. Remember he is only really in the team as Murty is unluckily a medium term injury. He ain't perfect, he's getting better and is better than a lot of numpty RB's in this league

One of those "yeah right" can't be bothered links that comes in by email from one of your regular jokes crew Then you watch it and Say nah not real uh maybe Holy Karp WTF!? http://maharashtratimes.indiatimes.com/showvideo/4882005.cms SPEAKERS ON PLS Can see it now Dear wifey, just taking the kids out for their hanging upside down by one arm 40 metres in the air lesson..... Well, I didn't bother taking pictures because 1) The GF has a mean Right Hook and (even trying to say - doesn't she look that Bond Girl in.... ouch didn't work) 2) Flickr is a banned site down here and nobody else has ever told me any other way to post pics using IE.... May change my Avatar to a KoL gig pic when I finish downloading all the video. Brilliant gig and all I had to do was pretend I was an erection specialist. No, honest, the mate who got me the passes erects the stages and stuff (Scaffolding Co) now one of the biggest stage builders in the world, so the GF thought he was being serious when he told her to tell security if she was questioned that "she was here to make sure all the erections were still standing" PMSL when she nearly fell for it at the first security checkpoint (hence the OTHER reason I couldn't look too close) But it is a hell of a place they've built Did see 2 red Ferarris zoom past the bus on the way in about an hour before practice (them new ones) each with an obligatory WAG in the passenger seat - sweet and on the way down was overtaken (actually wooshed) by a Bentley Convertible, a Maserati and a Porsche nose to tali being chased down by a Toyota Tercel holding up a yellow Lambo That WAS funny

Sounds like I missed a cracking game, but a big thanks to EoA for sending me txt updates. Think this will go down as the kick in the a*se that all teams need as they get really into their stride. When did we last come back from 2 goals down away from home to get a point?

Well, your on the spot reporter is just back. 1 hour 15 minutes from the track to my home (95kms) using the Park & Ride system they have set up, not a traffic jam in sight. Manged to use our contractors passes for the concert to access the area behind the main Grandstand, the F1 fanzone, so I have no idea what goes on on the track anyway so will keep it for future visitors. The site is an Island all the access routes are by motorway standard 8 lane highways. 3 Park & Rides avoid the hassle of the jams at each of the checkpoints for cars & tickets, they check you as you get on the bus and we were inside. First thing is it is a complete wasteland around it, except for the roads and carparks. The Yas Islands Hotel complex is really neat - about 6 franchised 4 & 5 star about 100m from the track. The buses have special lanes and stop at each of the main Stand entrances. A ticket check to get in and then a short walk under the track to the main Grandstand where they have a proper airport style secuity check - not sure if it's to stop nutters or make the tourists feel safe. The facilties are FAR FAR FAR superior to Bahrain (one cafe serving Sandwiches for 20,000 people when I went). The F1 zone has collection of stalls displaying sponsors stuff, game zone BEER TENT! - Heineken or Strongbow only Aed 30 for 500cc - about 4.80 a pint - standard for here, wines and spirits on sale. The food places looked in short supply and big queues for water & soft drinks. F1 official merchandise - Polo's Aed 350 - about US$100 and T Shirts Aed 240 - about 40 quid. Would say of the crowd 80% were "not locals". Loads of Airhostess types in their clubbing outfits, women dreaming of Ferraris in D&G shades and Ballgowns FFS? Blokes in the standard Baseball cap T Shirts Cargo shorts and trainers. Think the chicks thought it was Ascot without the hats - was a bit odd, but damn, they looked good! Quite a few kids with their folks as well The stands operate a scanner to get in through turnstiles so we couldn't get in, found a couple of spots where we could see the cars go by in practice and take pictures of some blurs. ALL the volunteers, security etc were amazingly helpful and friendly - unusual for down here, they looked like they had been trained. We had our beer and wandered up to the North Stand end by the big Red Ferrari World building. Very little in the way of facilities up there but a much better place to watch from than down by the Paddock in the stands and we found a good spot to watch and do the artistic photos of car with setting sun. Should think people up here found the shortage of "merchandising" etc a pain, there are buses that run you down to the Fanzone. The after party (which is actually why I blagged the contractors passes) was held in front of the Ferrari building - it made for the most spectacular gig venue I've seen down here, sort of like a U-Shaped Wembley Stadium gig set up. Easy to get booze but the food and toilets got swamped, someone said they waited an hour for a burger so shows the lack of food in the circuit. Concert was better than fantastic but not as good as Coldplay. Afterwards they had a holding pen of Buses back to the Park & Ride and we actually got on a bus as some in the stadium were still singing we want more. Summary. It was a heck of a race against time, but those Abu Dhabi boys have REALLY built something special. I could fully understand Ecclestone's comments about Silverstone pulling their socks up, if you take out the History of the British GP it is like comparing the new Wembley to Nottarf Krap. I actually think the boys down the road have shown their younger upstart a thing or two about how to do things properly. I think they've created something quite amazing down there. Hope it all goes well & safely tomorrow I went to Bahrain and it was pants and it put me right off. Yet as you drive into the site at Yas Island, you can see it is something special, wish I was bl**dy going tomorrow now. Darn it
