  1. Oh well unbeaten run continues. Put Watford out at St Marys and see what they cam do at Liverpool. Not convinced the club needs this distraction but plenty of games for bench players to get involved with. Just hope RM doesn't make so many changes for the replay. I don't think that's helpful.
  2. Last 10 mins has been the Saints we've seen last few months. Good more of that, keep the form going but bow out of the FA cup and avoid that Liverpool away game. Gets that unbeaten run monkey off our back as well
  3. Ha ha Ipswich goal
  4. What we need here is an Ipswich controversial goal and a proper punch up between the players. A few straight reds just to make things difficult for them.
  5. Very much the test of our season. Leeds away is probably irrelevant as play offs will be sorted by then, if Saints are involved. I'd add Middlesborough and Sunderland at home. They'll be going for play off positions and will fight like tigers. The current run is great but Saints aren't being truely tested yet. That Friday game at WBA will be a cracker and will tell us a lot. Nothing to fear from these two on tonight's showing. Although Leicester look a bit more solid than Saints. Love this league.
  6. I don't remember it being like that but guess my memory could be failing me. You can get an atmosphere going anywhere if your team wins. Sadly that was a rare event in the Prem.
  7. Good idea, gives a wall of noise on the rare times southerners can raise their voice. From a fan management point of view it is way better. I think St Mary's is pretty unique in splitting an end in half for home and away fans. Fans of other teams are usually pretty complimentary about their position, that obviously means they can impact on the game as much as any fan can. The safe standing at Spurs is fabulous and it is great to see this initiative being extended. Everyone stands in those areas anyway so why not make it comfortable. This will probably be controversial but I think a decent away section is important for the game's atmosphere. Newcastle is a joke and frankly very unfair on fans who have travelled hundreds of miles to see their team. Deliberately distancing fans from the game and their players is just mean spirited. West Ham is terrible (but they can't do much about that). In contrast Wolves and Villa with a decent side section for away fans gives a good feel to the game. Personally I want away fans to enjoy the experience of visiting St Marys (except the result). For most it's akin to their holidays, nice for them to see a bit of sunshine and drink decent lager for a change. They aren't enemies, just fellow fans suffering just as much as us.
  8. Opps my mistake sorry. However good to see, we are no longer the whipping boys, dishing it out a little as well.
  9. Leicester beating everyone else simply clear the path for Saints. Long may it continue. The upcoming fixtures are going to see Saints lose ground a little. They aren't going to win five away games, so we need to brace a bit for that. I reckon it's going to be an absolutely epic gladiatorial battle for 2nd place between Saints, Ipswich, and Leeds. What a fabulous season, brilliant for all fans.
  10. Quite the opposite, Saints are near the bottom. Other teams are resorting to fouls to stop them. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/championship/fairnesstabelle/wettbewerb/GB2/saison_id/2023
  11. It must be a difficult time for Che. He'll be worried about his form, that is probably a contributing factor to snatching at chances. He's lost his place in the team as a starter. His contract is about to end, which means he is facing unemployment. His next contract is important for him and his family. 5 years of security, into his 30s. I know most fans don't care, they think footballers are loaded anyway. It's all about the club for them, but he's human as well. He should have moved to Scotland in the summer. They love him up there, he's a warrior and he'll be desperate to stay in the Scotland squad. We aren't getting better than Che, he's fit, a model professional, and for all his misses he also scores a few.We have nobody with his physical presence at the moment. Club should give him a one year extension and then see where we are in June.
  12. Oooh Eastleigh v Utd (possibly) Tasty
  13. Oh come on Ipswich v Maidstone fix
  14. Watford away bollocks
  15. Yes aren't we just. Come on ITV get it over with
  16. Any non prem team at home would be perfect. Gives fringe players more opportunities. In contrast Leicester, Leeds, and Ipswich can have hard away games at Prem sides. There is one priority this year.
  17. Good grief, we thought Baz gave us heart failure. Lumley playing as advanced sweeper .... scary
  18. Definitely 2 points lost today but still a great Christmas. This was always a tricky fixture. Norwich had a game plan and it worked. Martin wants a proper right winger. Stephens can play RB and that allows KWP to play there. I thought Stephens played well. There were no dramas down his side bar one misplaced pass early on. KWP tormented his full back and got a right kicking in return. As usual the finishing was poor. Manning left way too much room in the 1st half but tightened up in the 2nd. Good to see Che have a decent game. Tried a couple of outrageous shots and set up several attacks. He is way more effective playing deeper. However that exposes our need for a striker even more. I had no issues with the team selection but Stu Armstrong was blowning at 60 minutes. There was an easy substitution to make with Alcaraz but Martin left it until 87 minutes. That was a mistake imo. Saints lost impetus and left a gap which Norwich exploited for their goal. However no real complaints,, the campaign continues. A decent rest required before facing Wednesday.
  19. Excellent my Hotel is one minute walk from Pogue Mahons. I can probably get room service 😀
  20. Job done, 3 points no injuries no sending offs. Definitely does not go down as a vintage performance. Baz's gift made it look a lot closer. Some of those players looked a bit leggy. Norwich game will be tough.
  21. Quite a few have tried that already ... it hasn't worked.
  22. Run out of ideas, needs a change of tactics. Aribo's physical presence helps break the line, Stu's twinkle toes does the same. Need at least one of them on. Plymouth are playing 5 4 1. It is very difficult to break that down whoever you are. You stick 4 and 5 in then you have to expect this. Going to be a testing 2nd half.
  23. Edwards is having none of Edoxie's shit today is he. Marking tight and taking no chances, Saints need to find another outlet.
  24. Drop Edozie! 5 0 win and he was pretty much MoTM. Frazer was excellent but I can't see that happening. Frazer's a loan player probably looking for a contract he can wait. FA cup game coming up, he'll start then, with young Sam on the other side. Poor Walsall Sadly we all know how opposition teams will eventually deal with Edozie and that's to take him out. He's already been cleaned out a few times. Sensible to have back up. Plymouth will be physical like WBA, Stephens needs to play somewhere and maybe Charles. They are a funny side, could cause us problems or roll over, hard to tell. This time last year Saints had been dicked by Brighton, and were facing another grizzly defeat at Fulham. That was horrible, much better feeling this year.
  25. Bus is easy, just don't leave it too late. Legend has it that Rupert Lowe had the seats made slightly smaller to push the capacity up above 30k. Seats can be tight for the bigger guy, but the football is so good at the moment you won't notice.
