Hold on Alex what am I missing. To me they are resorting to old ways as there is no outlet for them. A thin midfield and a static front line offer little opportunities. Add to that players who have a predilection to passing backwards and you have what we saw yesterday.

Been good to read this thread, as there is a real consensus building. Take away the frustrations with individual players, and we can all see clearly where the issues lie. Why in earth can't they see it. The return of Russball is very alarming, have they learnt nothing. Clement is an average manager, but he knew exactly how to deal with it. That whole game hinged on the penalty miss. Norwich gained self belief from that and the crowd got behind them. Saints are a dangerous team, but old frailties returned. All is not lost yet but that defence is a disaster at the moment. Bragg looked good again when he came on. Game was lost by then, but that's a small positive to hold on to. Really tough set of games coming up. Need to avoid being bullied by these teams.

That 2nd goal summed up all the issues. It was right in front of us, so no hiding. Manning completely out of position allows their guy to get a cross in. Stephens loses his man, and then Bazunu is beaten easily at the near post. You can have all the Scienzas you want up front, but if the basics aren't being attended to at the back ... then this shit happens. Has Martin returned as a coach by the way.

Buying strikers in January is notoriously difficult. Everybody wants one, and those that have one scoring aren't selling. Armstrong and Azaz are top scorers in this league, Scienza won't be far behind soon. Might get a loan but who will want to play as back up to Armstrong. Night as well use our youngsters for that. Forget any goalkeepers coming in. The club are committed to Bazunu and Ramsdale looms large. A classy solid CB may be an option. Decent money might prise someone away from a competitor. Need someone to put their head on the ball. Loan back Walker Peters he's doing fuck all at West Ham. Imagine him linking with Fellows. I still think Jan will be all about players leaving.

Six wins in seven is not to be sniffed at, but totally unnecessary self inflicted anxiety in the 2nd half. What the hell were they doing dropping back like that. WBA were shite, but even they realised that there huge gaps to be exploited behind our wing backs. We all know (and so does the rest of the league), that Saints can't defend crosses. Bolster the midfield and give it some energy. 3 0 up you don't need 3 cbs Need some FBs in January, that's for sure. Plus a CB who can put his head on a ball. However 3 points in the bag, that 2nd half will be soon forgotten. On to Norwich.

Two wins presumably, point is things change in this league fast.

That would do.... 😂 That would give us 30 points with a GD of +8. Looking at the table there is a scenario where that would put us in 6th place. Unlikely obviously, but that would be a hell of a boost this side of Christmas. That will give Middlesbrough the shits, with Saints visiting them in 20 days. Whatever happens this is all moving towards Ipswich and Saints slugging it out for the autos. Lampard observed a few weeks ago, where the eventual threat would come from. Looks like he was right. Just love this league, but all hangs on keeping the momentum going.

Blimey Donny away, way too North for the likes of us, especially in January. Keepmoat is around 15,000 I think. 20% is 3000, but bet we don't get that.
-
If Howe doesn't want him, he's back here in the summer whether he likes it or not. I fear we may be left, yet again, with someone who doesn't want to be here.
-
Keeper may be our priority but the club clearly rate Bazunu, and with Ramsdale still on the books, I think there's zero chance of any movement there.... bugger. Similar up front. Archer and Stewart will be expected to put pressure on Armstrong. Nobody sells a decent striker in January anyway. SR will keep their powder dry until the summer. Going to be all about some players finally pissing off. They may go for a dominant CB or experienced full back. Wood has control of the centre of defence, which is good to see, but who replaces him if he is injured.
-
I wouldn't change too much the team is really gelling. However lots of games coming up, so need to use the squad. Armstrong even if declared fit, will be carrying a knock, so I'd replace him with Archer. Cam looked bang up for it yesterday, and if he can rediscover some form, will be a massive asset for Saints. Bragg will probably get a run out at some point. Tonda needs three effective midfielders available. I said effective Joe, put your hand down. Robinson and Edozie are excellent replacements for Leo and Fellows. Different styles but they can both cause problems. No game is a formality but we should be confident of this one.
-
Good point, hadn't noticed that. Robinson is a good replacement for Leo, has his own box of tricks, but as you say is a different player. He likes to drive through the middle, and didn't Archer love that by the way, but leaves a gap behind him. Just take off a CB and bring on Bragg who has performed in that position well so far.

Just back and that was a good win. Birmingham are a tidy side, but with a bit more compusure in front of goal Saints could have had 5 or more. Usual frailties at the back, that needs sorting, but that only really started in earnest when Aribo and Romeu were on. Manning (I don't do crosses) was suddenly exposed and it became keystone kops. I don't have too many issues with Stephens but he looked a bit lost today, almost not required. Wood and THB have found some form. Good time to bring in Quarshie now. Fellows was MoTM for me, amongst some stiff competition, and boy does Archer 'Villa boy' hate Birmingham. I've never seen him so energised, and good grief he's quick. He's so desperate for a goal he's lost a bit of compusure. I reckon once he scores, they'll be a goal rush. Aribo What's the point, Bragg is the way better option. Just pay him off and be done with it. Good day COYS

Fucking Brazil ..... again. Give us a break
-
Hard to see how they couldn't appoint him. Lets start positive, he isn't the worst we had. Annoyingly if he does well, and I really hope he does, he's going to be nicked by a German or Austrian team. Guess we need Spors to stay to stop that happening.
-
Totally agree on 2 CBs, enables an extra midfielder to take pressure off Manning. So bloody obvious. Problem is Edwards, Wellington, and Quarshie can be just as flaky and inconsistent. Desperately need some quality, just shuffling deck chairs at the moment.
-
I think we've all seen enough now to know their limitations. Problem is there are no alternatives at the moment. They better sort this out in January. Play offs or even autos are still in touch but not with this fragile squad .
-
Well I disagree on the 1st goal but that's just opinions. You'll get no disagreement from anyone that he needs replacing. With luck Ransdale will be sold to Newcastle in January and the club can upgrade that position.
-
Oh it's my turn is it, your bloody obsessed. You do nothing but attack him at every opportunity, and anybody who says anything about him. Three decent saves, and absolutely no chance on two of their goals. The third was a defensive shambles, he's as culpable as the other defenders, but the real blame for that lies with Romeu who lost his man. Is he a decent goalie, nope. Too much flapping and too error prone, but that defeat isn't down to him.
-
Subs killed that game, Romeu not really up to speed. Aribo a disaster. Conceded the midfield, very lucky to get to 2 2. Absolute worldy from their CB. Tonight Matthew I will be 'Roberto Carlos'. 4 4 2 at the end would have stopped their momentum. Wellington on for Robinson, Romeu for Stephens. It's so bloody obvious Bazunu kept us in that today , pretty much no chance on the goals.
-
Bollocks
-
Aribo has been a disaster substitute. Has done nothing but lose the ball or his man ... often both. Manning desperately needed support, he's had a tough match.
-
Ridiculous
-
Not closing down the man was the problem there. he had a free shot. Bazunu had no chance with that.
-
Credit to Millwall, they have really kept their shape and stifled our attacks, and have launched some pretty decent attacks of their own. You never get it all your own way in this league, big 2nd half coming up. Jander looks knackered, time for Romeu.
