Subs killed that game, Romeu not really up to speed. Aribo a disaster. Conceded the midfield, very lucky to get to 2 2. Absolute worldy from their CB. Tonight Matthew I will be 'Roberto Carlos'. 4 4 2 at the end would have stopped their momentum. Wellington on for Robinson, Romeu for Stephens. It's so bloody obvious Bazunu kept us in that today , pretty much no chance on the goals.

Bollocks

Aribo has been a disaster substitute. Has done nothing but lose the ball or his man ... often both. Manning desperately needed support, he's had a tough match.
-
Ridiculous
-
Not closing down the man was the problem there. he had a free shot. Bazunu had no chance with that.

Credit to Millwall, they have really kept their shape and stifled our attacks, and have launched some pretty decent attacks of their own. You never get it all your own way in this league, big 2nd half coming up. Jander looks knackered, time for Romeu.
-
Not hard to see Millwall's tactics. Intense pressure on Manning and Robinson, keep the ball away from Fellows as much as possible Bragg and Jander having to work hard here
-
Probably need to manage expectations a little here. Winning runs don't last forever. Whilst I'd bet on a win, Saints are flying at the moment, Millwall are where they are for a reason. A competitive niggly side, not without an attacking bite. Saints should have too much for them, but they'll aim to neutralise our threat. I'd imagine Jander and Fellows, will be on their arses within minutes. Stephens will probably get the nod today, this is a similar game to Charlton. I'd start Bragg, as he brings energy, but Romeu is an ideal sub to bring on. Be good to see the main man on the pitch.

Ipswich going behind which good for us, not so good for Pompey
-
Robinson is the obvious substitute, and pretty effective to. However it's an intense position to play in. Frazer will probably act as back up. Of course Dibling would have been perfect, but he is of course busy ..... sitting on the bench.
-
Valid point MLG but I still wouldn't throw him straight in. Those legs are older and Spanish football is way less physical than the Championship. But who knows , all conjecture at the moment.
-
I really think you are underestimating Braggs physical game
-
Why is everyone calling for Romeo to play. Bragg was immense at Charlton surely he gets the call first. Bring Romeu on later in the game Some rose tinted glasses going on here. Great player for us but his legs were definitely going 2 years ago so he's hardly going to be the Messiah now. Effective cameos to settle the ship is probably more his thing now.

Downes picked up a 5th booking on Tuesday, so I presume suspended for Millwall. Defo Robinson for Scienza if the main man needs a rest

There is always a balance to be had between squad depth, and unused players. The problem is amplified by having a really decent U21 side. A number of those players are pressing for a place now. I'd imagine Frazer is happy to see his career out here now. He's a decent utility player and doubt he makes a fuss. Edwards, Aribo, Edozie, Matsuki, Archer, and sick note Stewart are really too expensive to keep hanging around. None has a future in the PL so time to get rid, one way or another. Downs needs a loan, and Jelart will be sent back. No room for him in the treatment room. Frightening as well when you consider how many players Saints have out on loan. The wage bill must be crippling. Major major clear out required.

Bragg coped fine at Charlton, and they were similar to Millwall. I'm sure he'll get the nod over Aribo. That Downes booking was definitely planned, he was hunting for it at one stage. Stephens in for Quarshie would be harsh. After the 1st 10 minutes I thought he had a good game. Jack's passing may be better but Quarshie's pace adds another element to the defence. Big question mark over Wellington for me. He looked right off the pace on Tuesday. Manning delivered two beautiful set pieces as well. I'm sure he'll start with aim to give Wellington some more minutes. I wonder when Archer will be fit. We need him in place of Downs, as there is no real back up at present. All very well him having these odd 10 minute cameos, when the game is won, but if Armstrong pulls a fetlock, we really don't want to see him come on. He just isn't ready, Oyekunle is probably a more effective back up.

Just home and having been at Charlton, it really has been a good 4 days. What a difference to the misery of previous years. What I liked about today was that Saints faced a team that had every intention of taking the game to them , and expected to win. First 10 minutes Quarshie was really nervous and Leicester put pressure on him. He pulled himself together after that. Then gradually Saints took control. Leicester were beaten well before the sending off. They were too vulnerable at the back and had lost the all important midfield battle. Jander and Azaz were everywhere. They had no answer to Scienza or Fellows, and their frustration with both led to the sending off. 2nd half Leicester were in survival mode, essentially refusing to play. Saints simply conserved energy. Lots of games coming up. Downes had to work hard for his yellow, that was clearly planned. THB had another very good game but Wood is totally the boss of that defence. He really is important to us. Might as well give it to Tonda now, I can't see a scenario where they don't.

Woke! Worlds gone mad 😂 Rugby has it right. As long as he is conscious play on.
-
How is that a red, ridiculous
-
Very much this, previous games against Leicester have usually been a battle for midfield superiority. Both teams need it to launch attacks. It will be a very interesting to see how Tonda plays this one. He has managed to get Azaz into the midfield pivot position., and pushed Fellows and Scienza forward a bit. That has made a big difference, but against weaker sides. Leicester aren't weak, far from it. They'll be working hard to stop that happening. Nevertheless they have their own problems to worry about. Not least the hapless Vestergaard.
-
Ha ha don't you dare change this Clarky. Typos like that are gold. I have images of a Leicester midfield of philosophers, bishops, and wise old men. Still be too much for us

Fantastic debut and just what we needed. The contrast with Downes when he came on was palpable. Now nothing against Flynn, he's a good player but he simply doesn't look to move the ball forward. His natural game is just different. We need to remember that Bragg is a youngster, they can be brilliant one day, and less so the next. It takes time for them to develop consistency. One of the reasons Southampton has had such success with academy players, is the patience shown by the club and fans. Hopefully that continues. It will be a good test of Tonda's management skills, to see how he manages this situation. We don't want another pulled hamstring on our hands, equally Bragg is going to be absolutely buzzing to play Tuesday.

Funny thing was we had to learn the words ha ha

GD is now positive, need to slam a few more in , get that number up

I didn't actually have too much of an issue with Jones as a football manager. Clearly wasn't ready for the PL but decent enough in the Championship. Problem was he came across as more than a tad unhinged at times. Imagine being in the dressing room when he loses it.
