  1. That was it 79, it was madness. Coppers formed a barrier at the station to keep us apart. I got kicked all the way down that road. The funniest thing I saw, was an ice cream van carrying on business whilst a full scale riot went on around it. No one touched the ice cream van. I mean there are rules.
  2. Wasn't that bad, Saints should have won, but sending Williams out on one leg stuffed us. Some nasty scenes at the end, mainly due to alcohol and sheer frustration. However as always in those days you had a choice to walk by or get involved. Took my Dad who had a full plaster cast on his leg. My brother and I were his props. Kept us out of bother. West Brom in 77 or 78 was way worse. That was the real deal. Very pleased we 'made the station' in one piece.
  3. What happens to Ben Bereton Diaz if Sheffield Utd win the play off. Do they have a commitment to buy him? I'd imagine they'll be trying to get out of that deal.
  4. Do we know when and where the final is?
  5. He is a solid left back, puts in crunching tackles, and goes a bit Brazilian at times. However he isn't pacy and I'm not sure he is the sort of defender who can rampage forward. Don't get your hopes up though, he may be shifted out to Turkey or similar. The fact that he hasn't been playing much would suggest that's the intention.
  6. Up until 70 minutes we all thought the same. Survived so far, good defending, but the goal is coming. Within a 5 min period we had Stephens brilliant goal line clearance, a Ramsdale save, and a Wellington tackle that mugged 2 City players. That lifted the crowd, and you could feel the belief starting to seep into the ground. The Saints subs for once didn't weaken the team, that was important. Once Stewart was on, Saints had a decent outlet, and City had to be wary of conceding a late goal. Do not underestimate how important a decent end to the season is. It will be vital going into the summer and next season.
  7. Solid today, you need to look at THB he has been way worse. The bar is very low though
  8. Different time different team. Both 9 0s were isolated results. Plenty of wins in those seasons, Liverpool, Chelsea and City amongst others, to make other teams wary of Saints. As Tom57 said, Saints are so bad they don't register on anybody's radar. Get the job done 2 or 3 nil, leave without any injuries or needing a shower.
  9. I think for some time teams have been going easy on Saints. Perhaps not consciously, but pros will have no appetite to humiliate their fellow pros. Saints have surprised a few teams like Palace and West Ham, but generally they are easily beaten. There is no glory in unnecessarily thrashing a broken opponent. City will contain Saints and maintain a 2 or 3 goal lead. Just need to grind this season out and get it over and done with.
  10. Totally agree with all this, good post. However don't change 'wanders', love typos like that. Now we know why our defence goes wandering about 😂
  11. No agreed same template. From memory they have a larger 2nd tier on one side. Crucially the seats are bigger and there is standard leg room. They didn't squeeze in extra seats that Lowe insisted on. Good business decision but uncomfortable.
  12. Why would Eustace come here. Derby have a better history than Saints, similar size city, and a bigger Stadium. They seem to have a decent owner now as well. Our fanbase's sense of entitlement has a long way to fall. The likes of Norwich, Stoke, Middleborough, Derby, and God help us Portsmouth, are going to be gunning for Saints now. They can smell blood. The Championship is a brutal league. If the owners aren't careful we'll be sucked into their league of permanent mediocrity. All is not lost yet, the club has money and some decent young players. SR have to get this manager appointment right. I think we should keep an eye on Coventry in the play offs. Lampard could be a good fit for Saints. Has the respect of fellow pros and knows how to bring on youngsters. I guess Gerrard should have the same aura but I just can't warm to him. The other horror story is Nathan Jones at Charlton. If they come up, we'll have to put with him twice a year as well.
  13. I managed to avoid listening or watching the game. Just kept an eye on the score and got on with other things. Absolutely no surprise at the result. Leicester are better than Saints. They were last season, and clearly this season as well. Saints have been turned over at the KPS too often for this to come as any surprise. The game was important to them, they had their own unwanted record to avoid and no way did they want Saints to overtake them. The Saints team are totally broken, most know they have zero future here. With a few exceptions they have lost the trust of the fan base. I've enjoyed watching Saints for nearly 60 years but I just want this miserable season to end. I need to rediscover some love for this club.
  14. A very predictable development. Dragon was sold an investment/PR opportunity. It has turned mega sour, and I'm sure part of him wants rid of what has become a millstone. Hopefully the other part wants to see the project through. As others have said White or Jordan were probably encouraged to mention it. Looking to see what turns up I guess. Frankly it fills me with dread and images of SISU come to mind. Nobody minted is buying Saints, not in its present state. Feels like the club is in a very vulnerable state at the moment Guess we need to brace ourselves for sales and expectations being lowered. The one bright spot is the performance of the B team and Under 18. These things are relative to whoever they are playing obviously, but it feels like there is something there to use as a launch pad .
  15. Stewart was adequate sums it up really. He's scored in the Championship before so there is some hope The club have to address our woeful attacking options next year. I think we can assume Onuachu and Sulemana will be sold. Hope that Sheffield Utd win the play offs and have to buy BBD. Someone might buy Archer, you never know. That at least will give the club an opportunity to bring in a forward and or give room for some youngsters to be brought on. Whoever is manager has a massive job ahead of him.
  16. Business as usual really, Fulham are a tidy outfit and are well managed. Way too good for Saints. I thought Sessegnon was outstanding today. No way Fulham keep him next year. Berge was a big bully who just owned the midfield. We had a bigger lump in Les but he hardly featured. I thought Stewart did well, bodes well for next year. THB yet again was constantly out of position, reckless, and easily bypassed. Playing 5 at the back just invites trouble. Fernades was marked out of the game. He'll have to learn to live with that. Da Silva could see Saints were tiring so brought on 3 subs. Nothing special but they put our fading team under even more pressure. Time and time Fulham attacked Manning. He struggled to contain Traore and the crosses were firing in. He had zero support in front of him, and Stephens should have been pushed out to support him. Or maybe even play Dibling on the right where he can actually make a difference. I'd have brought Wellington on to support Manning, and gamed that match out for the point. 13 corners to 0 tells you all you need to know really.
  17. Ha silly mistake. It's Wrexham next for them. Hell of a run they're on though
  18. Good point In fairness he's managing in a pretty desperate situation up there. Bit harsh to judge him on that. Nathan Jones has won 10 drawn 2 and lost 1 in his last 13 matches. Now on the verge of the autos, and his team just dicked Wrexham ( in his plus column). Would we want him back? Nb Wycombe not Wrexham thank MLG
  19. Leicester have had almost as grim a record of appointing managers as we have. I almost feel sorry for them if they appoint Martin. Personally I wouldn't be disappointed to see them appoint Rohl. His record is looking grimmer every week. Which leaves Saints further up the creek.
  20. A good draw, looked so much better when Rusk changed to 4 at the back. That will give them some confidence going into the last 5 games COYS
  21. Too right , THB is the weakest of those three at the moment. I accept that bar is very low.
  22. What the hell were Manning and Bednarek doing there. What a soft goal Arse
  23. This with shiny knobs on. Maybe give Dibling or Stewart a run out, but that's it No one needs to be given a game. The game is at a deathly pace anyway, so no body will be tired.
  24. Good half time, I can watch the cricket for a while. A better feel good factor with Hampshire right now. Not too bad a half for Saints. West Ham are pretty poor, absolutely no intensity in their play at all. Commentators accused JWP of deliberately missing. That was a bit strong. I reckon Dibling on for Onuachu, who's main strategy seems to be falling on people. Problem is we all know exactly how this game is probably going to pan out, but at 0 0 there is always a sliver of hope.
