  1. Wes, it doesnt look as you even understand what you're writing, its jibberish. Its like asking do I not see any connection between the teaching of totally unregulated free market economics leading to frustration it cant be achieved by normal means and people turning to anarchy and revolution instead. Just fyi anarchism is about rejecting governments, hierachy and authority. Marxism is about enforcing social equality. They're the antithesis of each other
  2. Do any of these pictures make Thatcher a paedophile, orchestrator of the disappeared or cause of the Egyptian civil war?
  3. Thanks Wes. That's two who don't know the difference between the New Left and anarchism but feel qualified to talk politics.
  4. They shouldnt have issued invitations if they didnt want people to come Britain is a free country, despite what Miliband is trying to do to it. You have to expect attention if you're in a famous family The dead mans wife's tears were all put on. Goebbals would have been proud of that etc etc blah blah. No morals, no conscience, no values.
  5. You're a bit confused aren't you.
  6. Thats as peurile as the follow up Mail article today which has been excoriated by its readers - but you knew that.
  7. Yes I got it wrong - mixed up voluntary renunciation with compulsory.
  8. ...whilst your two elder children do want to live here. All that demonstrates is that, emphatically what a parent believes has little to do with what their offspring believe - and that was the whole premise of the Mail article (along with Miliband senior hating Britain, which was also disproved).
  9. Not so sure, you should read the comments after the story on the Mails own site. Having said that, part of the problem is that papers do not rely on people buying copies anymore, its all about traffic to the website - whether supportive or not.
  10. Surely if you idea of politics and take on the world being handed down from father to son were true Ed and David would hold the same views and your children wouldn't want to live in Britain.
  11. Jack Butland Whats he done?
  12. On a business level its worse than that. He lost the ability to judge the mood of the public.
  13. That's a good article. The difference is that Liddle said Miliband senior's economic and political views were wrong, which they were, and that he wasn't a towering figure in literature, which he wasn't. Thats not the point. Lying about him in order to try to discredit his son is a different ball game. Thats the point. The real litmus test of this will be how long Paul Dacre survives as editor. Rothermere won't sack him right away for appearances sake, but he will go. About 3-6 months imo.
  14. I think you're almost alone in thinking that. Most people know children make their own way in the world with their own beliefs - as Bexy noted Ken Livingstone talking about his conservative parents. The impression this affair has created in most peoples minds is that the Tories standard bearer - and by association the tories themselves - is nasty, mean and dishonest - exactly the kind of thing that Cameron has been trying to distance himself from.
  15. Aah. Would they know? After all you could get Norwegian citizenship and then sneak back to get a British passport again afterwards. Edit. Maybe the thing to do is to always think of yourself as British, which you are, who happens to currently be holding a Norwegian passport. Unless you have to swear allegiance to King Harald and say you never liked Lizzie anyway, in which case its trickier.
  16. I thought one of the fundamental rights of being British is that your citizenship can never be taken from you - unlike the US or Russia for example where the government can declare you persona non grata and kick you out. Similarly if you take up citizenship elsewhere you automatically lose your US citizenship. As a Brit wouldnt you just get dual nationality - and avoid the tricky choice?
  17. Thats what happens with economic turmoil, people get desperate, or resentful, or frightened and go to the extremes - the 1930s being just one example.
  18. Digger racing, theres one in yorkshire (assuming you want it near Harrogate). Failing that go kart racing in a tournament against each other - need to find a good sized track with decent karts. http://www.diggerland.com/groups/racing.htm http://www.tockwithmotorsports.net/Groups.html
  19. There are all kinds of wild levels to my dreams, none of which involve Chelsea (or Saints tbf)
  20. "The New Left was a term used mainly in the United Kingdom and United States in reference to activists, educators, agitators and others in the 1960s and 1970s who sought to implement a broad range of reforms on issues such as gay rights, abortion, gender roles and drugs" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Left
  21. If you actually read anything first hand instead of simply regurgitating hack's trashing pieces you would know that and wouldnt have to resort to inane smilies. Miliband founded the New Left Review in order to create a platform for a movement called the New Left between Marxism and Social Democrats. Nothing to do with New Labour. They aren't politics I agree with - but I try to make sure I have facts so I avoid your favourite pitfall of making uninformed and so embarrassing posts. .
  22. Exactly. He was a member of the New Left, more akin to liberal hippies (gay rights, equal pay etc) than Marxism. In any event Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot etc had very little to do with Marx and were just corrupted dictators under a different name
  23. I didn't agree with a lot of the comment when Thatcher died, but at least it was about a politician who put herself on the line and her legacy - not about her mother or father.
  24. I think its less about sympathy for Miliband - who is a politician and not pure as the driven - but about whether dead family unconnected with politics should be dragged into them - particularly when the allegations seem highly likely to be untrue. The leaking of medical information about Cameron's and Brown's disabled children is almost as vile.
