The irony is ofc that if there were a conspiracy it would be one to peddle anti vax beliefs so that the stupid die while the brighter sparks get vaccinated. That would be relatively simple to organise. A virus / vaccine hoax conspiracy involving literally hundreds of millions of doctors, researchers and national governments would be impossible to pull off.

Decisions and recommendations are judgement calls - predictions informed by best available evidence at the time. No-one knows for sure how dangerous omnicron will be. You can take the view that it might be deadly and close down just in case or you take the view that 'nah it'll probably be fine'. If the first one is wrong you spoil peoples Christmas and lose some economic growth. If the second one is wrong you collapse health services and kill a couple of hundred thousand people.
  7. That's the point though - you don't really know what they believe because they wont tell you, and anyhow their beliefs are no guide to what they actually do. I have far more respect for conviction politicians of whatever colour than populists temporarily espousing policies I happen to agree with.

Or even different groups of people coming to different conclusions based on local evidence and situation. Imagine that.

Wu Lien Teh a pioneer of gauze face masks and PPE to protect against infection during the Manchurian Plague / an early NWO Bilderberger who wanted to destroy humanity. I must say, these global genocide conspiracies seem to take a long time to work. 117 years so far and the population has quadrupled https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manchurian_plague
  10. Marcus Fysh, backbencher, in reply: “Frost is a hero and 100% right on this. The whole point of Brexit is radical supply side reform and moving away from the EU model, yet ministers are happy just to give hard won power put in their hands to achieve this to officials who will do the opposite.” This was posted on the European Reform Groups Whatsapp. I've never heard this articulated before. Genuine question. What does he mean by radical supply side reform? Totally free trade? not free movement of labour presumably.

Shouldnt it be consistent across areas if its a conspiracy? because currently its almost as if a whole range of factors are at work.

  13. Easiest deal in history, oven ready indeed. Still a bit too tricky for Frost though .

All I can tell you is RSCH Brighton has 40 patients being treated for covid right now including 18 in a dedicated red ward (emergency response). That compares to around 6 and no red ward earlier in the year

My gf just texted me. She got called in to a full covid ward to help out. Rate of admissions really starting to pick up, at least in Brighton. Omnicrom may not be mild….
  16. The supporters of Alexander Navalny in Russia created a tactical voting app - telling you which candidate in each constituency had the best chance of unseating the incumbent. It was banned obviously, being Russia, but would be fascinating to see what effect it would have at a UK General Election. It could certainly affect results and possibly also spell the end of First Past the Post
  17. The Tories hold a seat for 200 years and then Boris loses it for them. Looks like Planet Boris is on the wane

People dont go from being infected on day 1 to be on a ventilator on day 2 - it usually takes 2-3 weeks.. Whether omnicron is a big deal or not will be clear by January, probably not before.

What method of counting do you propose? Whatever choice you make won't reflect the exact circumstances of every case. We all know dying with covid isnt exactly the same as dying from covid. We also all know that for the 20 year old motor biker who was admitted after being hit by a truck the major problem was the truck, not the covid he had. But that doesn't mean covid wont kill him because he is paralysed and his lungs have filled with fluid.
  20. Ive been seeing her name a lot in news site comments as their preference for next PM. Couldn't believe it. Relieved to see a Survation poll today has Sunak way, way ahead of any other contenders with something like 26% ahead of next best on something like 6%
  21. There are potential Tory I'd vote for, but never Johnson. Tobias Ellwood is my choice - no chance obvs.

  24. The murmuring seems like they’ve given him more time l. Basically to get through till end of January without another FU. Probs got a stay if execution because of the sprog 👶. Wonder if May will pull the trigger on Thursday as rumoured (in no way it’s, just read various articles and analysis)

No. The large majority of vaccinations are done in primary care. If they are doing jabs they arent doing consultations to diagnose cancers, heart disease etc - in those early days when early intervention makes difference. This announcement doubles down and starts directly reducing secondary (hospital) non covid care. GPs are to be paid up to £30 per vaccine as part of a ramping up of the booster jab roll-out in the UK, NHS chief executive Amanda Pritchard has announced. She added that she was aiming to free up capacity to allow hospitals, GPs and other services to administer more booster jabs. “We will need to expand vaccination capacity right across the NHS,” she said. She added: “Our hard-working GPs, community pharmacists and primary care colleagues have delivered the lion’s share of the vaccinations so far. We’re looking at how we can help them to do even more by cutting other burdens on them to free up clinicians’ time.”
