    Current Form

Having undergone a Damascian conversion, I am now a big fan of form guides. Based upon the last 6 games - Form Guide - we are 12th, and 13 teams have the same or worse goal difference. I was concerned for a while. I'm now officially allowing laces and belts.
  3. Is the original one still around then?
  4. "Your choice of wallcovering says a lot about you. Never underestimate the psychology of boardroom decor." Laurence Llewllyn-Bowen. April 2001
  5. So what are you proposing we tell the Bank Manager?
  6. Lowe didn't get us relegated anymore than he got us to the cup final.
  7. hat seems to have passed you by is that the board (who represent the shareholders, who are effectively the Lowe/Wilde Axis) would need to sack Lowe, or he would need to resign. Neither looks like a remote possibility right now. Forget the politics and support the team on the pitch is the best way forward. If we get promoted some rich guy will want us for his plaything - then everyone gets what they want.
  8. If we were to get to the play offs, how many of the "I'm not going because of Lowe" brigade would stand on their principles and not attend? My guess is SMS would be full. The 20 or so anti-lowe zealots on here do not carry as much weight as a decent or poor run of results.
  9. No, by stability I mean we don't have any boardroom wranglings and we have a strategy. Do tell me which of last years team you would have kept? Those 2/3 that may be worth it ability wise we simply cannot afford. The 5-6k stay away fans have very little to do with Lowe/Wilde being in charge directly, as will be verified if we put together a decent run. The 20 or so using Lowe/Wilde as an excuse are not material.
  10. Wes, I don't know if its me or you, but one of us has a very bad memory. Did Lowe and Wilde not oust Crouch at the end of last season? It's also a bit rich calling Lowe Walter Mitty, when this place is (or has been) populated by the very definition of Walter Mitty like characters. You nor I may like it, but there is a plan. There is stability - or as much as any club outside the top 4 has. Finally I'm not talking about he last decade, I'm talking about today.
  11. Errant nonsense. If there was a queue of interested investors, with the best interests of Saints at heart, they would have come forward and bought the club. They haven't. If they're waiting for Administration and the effects of that on the Club, Staff, Suppoters and local businesses, perhaps they're not as philanthropic as one might hope (ie in it for themselves, and so what changes?).
  12. Except he does not have the backing of the majority of the shareholders and would, therefore, be divisive. It may have escaped the notice of many, but the only place the boardroom is being mentioned, is on here. Saints are only on the back pages these days, which is a good thing imo. Many may not like the regime, but there appears to be more stability, and at least we seem to have a plan. Both on and off the pitch.
  13. Well he can't can he, from Austria. It does not, however, stop him providing insightful comment on how crap we played when we lose. I'm sure he'll have a view on how we performed today. Great win, but I suspect we are in for further lows and highs. Good innit??
  14. Anyone who didn't expect inconsitency this season should check themselves in.
  15. I don't doubt you're right, but to accuse loyal supporters of being "at best misguided", whilst in the same piece lauding Wolves fanatics, is itself misguided. IMO. Was he at the cup final, whilst RL was at the helm? Should we go on a 10 game unbeaten run, would he return?
  16. Crikey, who shook your tree? I read it as a critique of the article not the person. No-one was "slagged off".
  17. Whilst I have no doubt his views are sincerely held, his whole arguement is spoiled by his decision to compare our following and fortunes to that of Wolves. For those with shorter (or younger) memories Wolves have been in considerably more dire straights than we are presently. Whilst living in Exeter some 20 or so years ago I recall going to see Exeter v Wolves in the old Div 4. Chris refers to their fans as the more fanatical variety - well their fans did stick by them thats for sure. Yes, they were one of the Euorpean pioneers, but they have also seen hard times and to ignore that fact is a nonsense. The fortunes of all clubs wax and wane - whoever is in charge, and success is always relative (there's a significant minority of Arsenal fans who think Wenger should go FFS). Our time will come again. I have enjoyed the football our kids play this year considerably more than the overpaid, hopelessly unfit, posturing by last year's mercenaries. Can Bristol Rovers have been erased form the memory so soon? Whoever the Chairman is, the crowds will come flooding back if (however unlikely is appears right now) we put together a run of games that gets us into contention. We all know that to be true. Fans are fickle. Of course all football fans are insular hold a parochial view of the world - but the reality is the club will never be all that we want it to be. Keep the faith.
  18. The difference between us is you say current form is 9 games. I say its 17. We can, in fact, both be right. Or both be wrong. Good night.
  19. No my friend, it's you who hasn't quite grasped it. Based on a 17 game form guide we're safe. If you chose a two game period, Manchester utd can't possibly be champions. It all depends on how long a period you chose for your form guide. I understand that over the last 9 it doesn't look good, but the season is not based on the last 9, any more than it is games 5-13, or games 1-17. In football, as in most sports, you can't extrapolate from past performance and predict, with certainty, future outcomes. Otherwise we'd all be off to the bookies. But the mathematics of probability suggests the larger the sample, the closer to the actual result you will get.
  20. Unfortunately your theory only works if we base the final table on any chosen period of 9 games. With over half the season to go, if everybody maintains their form over the last 17 games, we'll be safe. Result.
  21. Comparing us and our resources to those that Wenger has at his disposal is plainly ridiculous. There is, of course, the other oft repeated refrain in footballing circles of "if your good enough, you're old enough". Perhaps he's just not good enough - yet, but he's the best option to give balance?
  22. To put it into full perspective, form wise (last 17 played) we're 21st and safe. Funny old world, isn't it.
  23. If true, that is a concern. Although to be honest I can't see how 100 rabid internet posters affect the future of the club.
  24. Define mid-table
  25. Agreed - however valid their viewpoint. It's become impossible to post on any topic without it being hijacked. This board has become the almost perefect definition of interrnet mob rule. Unless your 100% for Lowe out, there's little point in posting. I take my hat off to the few that do.
