  1. ^This. All the parachute payment scheme seems to achieve is actively encouraging the less scrupulous clubs to overspend. I'm lost.
  2. I've asked this before but no harm in trying again.... Why are Pompey (potentially) being allowed to use the parachute money for a purpose for which it was not designed? They were designed to help a well run club survive the drop in revenue due to relegation. They were never intended to prop up a football club that finds itself in difficulty because it was badly run. Who governs the parachute money, what are the rules and who polices those rules to ensure the money isn't misappropriated? Or perhaps the system was poorly set up in the first place and as such there are no rules thus allowing owners with dubious intentions to prop up dubious activities. Anyone?
  3. Another thread that should have been started in November
  4. Solent admitted shortly after that it was a typo!
  5. Paul Foster @Paul_A_Foster pompey winding-up petition should've been published with London Gazette at 3.30pm say HMRC but so far it's not appeared yet #istherehope?
  6. James Pearce @Pearcesport Early finish today. Redknapp/Mandaric jury sent home for night with usual warning about not researching on The SaintsWeb Forum. We resume 10am tomorrow
  7. Meanwhile....back at the courthouse.... James Pearce @Pearcesport Mandaric told police that the money in Rosie47 was a loan and that he had asked Redknapp to pay it back. R told police it wasn't a loan Redknapp told police reason he hadn't told his accountant about existence of Monaco account was because he thought there was no money in it
  8. BBC Solent Sport @solentsport That winding up petition brought by HMRC against #pompey is for £1.6 million pounds, not 12.6 as accidentally tweeted !! Oops....

  13. My daughter's school was quite candid about it at a parent's evening last year...."It's an easy exam to pass so for that reason alone it's a good exam to take", or words to that effect.
  14. They haven't updated their site with 24th Jan WUPs yet, have they? (still showing latest as 23rd Jan here) Edit: ignore...just seen 24th's Edit(2): most of today's WUP have the following line: "A petition to wind up the above-named Company presented on 15 / 16 December 2011 by xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx". Does that mean the actual notice doesn't appear until, what looks like, 5 weeks after the actual petition was "presented"? Or am I reading that wrong?

  16. You gotta love the internet..... enter "dog bank account" into a google picture search and guess what shows up.....
  17. Caption competition....
  18. James Pearce @Pearcesport Redknapp said to police that Mandaric had told him that Monaco investment had been "a disaster. Got wiped out" Redknapp to police: "I never mentioned it again. I just thought that's history. He's had me. Maybe he never put the money in. I don't know" Redknapp "I never had a clue how much money went in" Prosecution say Redknapp told police Mandaric had control over account. Redknapp didn't mention HE had faxed Monaco instruction to transfer $100,000 to Florida
  19. Jay @Jay_in_Essex Amazing scenes in Southwark this morning as Harry Redknapp drives his car into the courtroom and begins giving evidence through the window. Stephen Grant @stephencgrant Nothing grounds your sense of personal achievement like knowing you'll never have more in your bank account than Harry Redknapp's dog. HaveIGotNewsForYou @bbcHIGNFY There’s disbelief that Harry Redknapp opened a bank account in his dog’s name, when he could have put the money in one of his offshore chins
  20. http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/society/ok,-we'll-get-jobs,-say-poor-people-201201244803/ BRITAIN'S poor people have finally conceded defeat and vowed to find work first thing this morning. As the government pressed ahead with welfare reform despite some bishops rejecting a £26,000 benefit cap, the nation’s job centres braced themselves for an influx of millions, ready to embark on a fantastic career. Experts predicted it will be the first time Britain has experienced full employment since 526, when Olaf the Prudent opened the Dark Ages' largest pig showroom, in Colchester.
