And in what minute will he score his first goal? (need to know before I head off to Ladbrokes at 14:10. Cheers)
-
Cheers for the info....but how come the powers that be haven't sussed out who you are yet....? ;-)
-
Can someone dust off the quotes on the original thread....you know, the posts where people were adamant that tabloid newspapers don't make this sort of stuff up....sigh...
-
Count me in.... I suggest we join forces with the Association of Real Saints Enthusiasts to form an even bigger collection of ARSEes.

Guess or ITK? Cheers

How many monopolies commissions are there?

Edit: oops, you were talking about transport pricing rather than rush hour per se. I still don't see it as a big deal

I could be missing the point (163rd time for everything), but how would a worker in Scotland leaving work at 5pm Scottish time and a worker in England leaving work at 5pm English time suddenly cause travel chaos? And as for having to worry about TV programme times - since when was television mote important than life itself.,.? (asked Trousers rhetorically)

Steady on! The space-time continuum will struggle to survive intact with such a coming together of opposite minded matter...! ;-)

Quiz question - When was the last time Saints finished above...

We're only talking about 60 minutes difference here though. I could understand it having an effect on daily lives if we were talking 2 hours or more, but most people work flexible hours these days, so I can't see it being a logistical nightmare at all. In my industry (Banking IT) we now regularly deal with workers in India and they are 4 - 5 hours ahead. We simply make it work to our advantage (if you manage the UK based and India based work force cleverly enough you can get 12 hour days rather than 8 hour days out of your "9 to 5" workforce). As you say, the stumbling block is more around perception than reality.

Erm, I think a quick Google search of "HBOS", "Gordon Brown" and "Sir Victor Blank" will probably be enlightening here.... Btw, I worked for Lloyds for 20 years and I'm in the same boat as you re: share price diving from a high of £8-£9 in the late 1980s / early 1990s. It's swings and roundabouts though, as we (the staff) had 10+ years of living off the rampant share price (that were sold well below market rate to staff) so we can't really complain when the bubble bursts.

A transcript of the call below. Some of it cuts out for a split second towards the end, so apologies for any typos. Cundy: Let’s go and speak to Mike, a Saints fan in Southampton. Good afternoon Mike, welcome to Drive Time Mike: Good afternoon. Do you know I think this is a great topic you’ve brought up. I’m actually the chairman of the Southampton Independent Supporters Association. I’ve been there for over 6 years now and our organisation has been going since 1993. Now, as you know, our club was bought out a few years ago, we nearly went bust Cundy: And it’s been through the mill Mike, Southampton’s been through the mill. Mike: Oh Christ almighty, we’ve been through thin and thinner mate, you know, you know, it’s as simple as that. But what erm we’ve erm, unfortunately the chap who actually bought the club unfortunately passed away – Mr Liebherr – and we are the 5th richest club in the country, the family, Liebherr family is worth over 3 billion pounds. We have now got a chairman who’s taken over, he’s been in the chair over 3 years and the last 2 years he has not had a fan’s forum which we’ve always had which normally goes out live on radio. So we don’t even get an opportunity to ask questions, i.e. you’re talking about things going up like rail fares right, I know gas and electric is going up about 20%, my season ticket this season has gone up 40% from last season. The season before that we were in the 3rd tier of English football… Cundy: I know, and look where you are….you’re sat top of the Championship Mike. Of all the fans to come on about this subject, I didn’t expect a Southampton one. Mike: Say that again mate? Cundy: I didn’t think I’d hear a Southampton fan moaning when they are on top of the Championship! Mike: Well, the thing is, at the end of the day, it’s because we’re top of the table that it’s all like, it’s all happy-go-lucky. There’s still real issues. You know, like, the Chairman has disallowed photographers to come in to take photographs of the game when we’re in the 3rd tier of English football. (Call cuts out momentarily)…..Mr Chairman, thanks for rescuing our club, we’re appreciative, we love what you’ve done for us, but why why why are you charging fans to car park…..(call cuts out momentarily)….that have been supporting Saints for over 120 years, and why are you not answering questions, i.e. why have you put, erm with the financial climate, why have you if we’re in the 3rd tier of English football, why have you put my season ticket up by over 10%? Cundy: Clearly fans aren’t happy with ticket prices but I’m not talking about that.... (cuts to ad break)

Just listened to the call (direct link to yesterday's programme here: http://www.talksport.co.uk/radio/listen-again/episode/54271 - click on the 16:30 - 17:00 time slot and it's towards the end of there.) Two words: "Oh dear"

Lots of valid observations, but what's the solution?

Ok, let's take this step-by-step.... Who agrees what a director of a company gets paid?

I've had a Gaggia Classic for many years now. Perfect espresso coffee every time. Fairly pricey though (c.£250 rings a bell) http://www.gaggia.com/index.asp

Any non-trivial reason why Scotland couldn't be in a different time-zone to England? Win win, surely?
-
- Squeezed £12m - £15m out of Arsenal for a 17 year old who had only played half a season in the third tier of English football - Annoyed the sports editor of a Rupert Murdoch newspaper - Oversaw the winning of the first silver wear the club had won since 1976 - Introduced sensible pricing policies on tickets, car parking etc to ensure the club can be self sustaining financially

http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/20111027/adkins-ready-for-inventive-middlesbrough_2264122_2496357/0,,10280~2496357~1,00.html Yes, but did you notice Lallana was nowhere to be seen on the somewhat extensive footage of yesterday's training session? Either he's fit and was excluded from the footage to put doubt in Middlesborough's minds, or, equally he could be unfit to even train but Adkins is talking up his chances. Either way, Saints are playing their usual "guess if he's playing" game to the opposition. Which isn't a bad thing. I also noticed the camera was focused on Ward-Prowse a lot.....a slot on the bench for him perhaps....?
