  1. Why does that matter? They still agreed to go from 1st choice to 2nd choice at a bigger club. Why is the length of time they were 1st choice relevant to the decision? They moved for money, if McCarthy is offered a huge pay rise and the odd European game it wouldn't be surprising to see him go.
  2. I'm not sure what you are objecting to in what I said... Begovic was established as a number one at Stoke... yet went to Chelsea to be a number two Vorm was established as a number one at Swansea... yet went to Spurs to be a number two Money very likely influenced those moves.
  3. Money. Keepers like Begovic went from regular football at Stoke to bigger money at Chelsea and a place on the bench. Vorm went from regular football at Swansea to 2nd choice at Spurs.
  4. My point was Gazzaniga didn't set the world alight at Saints, but got a move to Spurs to be 3rd choice. Yet you said there is "no chance" Spurs would want Alex McCarthy to be 2nd choice if Michel Vorm leaves.
  5. How does that work in practice? What are Saints going to do based on reading a story in the Mirror?
  6. So Paulo Gazzaniga is 3rd choice at Spurs... but Alex McCarthy isn't good enough to be 2nd choice at Spurs?
  7. How would a story like that make any difference to him getting a better contract from Saints? Hard to see why any professional club would make decisions based on stories in the Mirror about interest from other clubs.
  8. It highlights how out of touch their owner is with the views of very likely a large % of their fanbase. If he isn't aware a tweet like that would go badly then what other daft decisions will he make...?
  9. If the story about his father is true (little reason not to believe him), then it is The Sun who have yet again ****ed up, not Sterling... Sterling on Instagram in reply... In no way is that glamourising gun culture... quite the opposite in fact!
  10. Rolling Stones at St Mary's tonight... Rolling granny and the Muppets houseband at Fratton Park...
  11. If your owner owns the club the player goes to, you have far more control vs sending to a random League 1 club. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/16230056.Gao_plans_overseas_investment/ Southampton and Sannois SG (French 3rd tier) have a partnership agreement. - The partnership expires on 30/06/2018 but is renewable - Sannois SG teams of different age groups come to play friendlies in England - Staff from Southampton will come to train Sannois SG young players sometimes - A seminar will take place in England for Sannois SG youth teams managers - Sannois SG seems to have a lot of good young players, that is interesting for Southampton, a majority of best French players comes from Paris region (including Sannois SG) - Sannois SG club expect that more young players will be interested in coming to the club, in order to have a chance to reach the English leagues later
  12. Actually it is amazing to think just how much you've twisted my words. I haven't said what you've claimed I said. Promoted back to Serie B rather than the regional 3 league Serie C and that would be a decent level for younger players.
  13. He only played 11 league games last season.
  14. Because they are on the verge of going out of business, were nearly relegated into the 4th tier, available to buy for under £2m and a little investment could see them rise again to Serie B. Potentially a lot of positives for them given their current situation and little in the way of negatives. I'm puzzled why you think a club that was nearly relegated from the three league regional Serie C would in any way be beneficial to promoting soccer centres in China!
  15. Don't worry I'm fine, meet George Agdgdgwngo...
  16. No it is George Agdgdgwngo
  17. How is a training camp from 30th June to 13th July, including a friendly against the 2nd best team in Germany "almost useless" as preparation? Jet lag is not an issue that will impact the team a month later when the season starts and they will have two weeks of training, at likely a very good facility and hotel. If this was arranged for close to the start of the league campaign I'd be worried about the impact of such a long journey for them... but it isn't.
  18. What type of club did you think they were going to buy? Vicenza would have a number of positives going for it as a potential purchase... - recent financial problems means they are for sale at a low price of under £2m - a club that was in Serie A as recently as 2001 and won the Italian cup in 1997 - wouldn't take a huge amount of time or money to get them back to Serie B, which would be a decent level for loan players from Saints under 23s to play in - decent sized fanbase - stadium capacity 12,000 - kit of red and white stripes matches the main club
  19. He was born in Portsmouth!
  20. It is a very British word, it just strikes me as an odd word to be in common usage in Kenya. I didn't say you did live in Nairobi, I just asked if it was a commonly used word in Nairobi. Big fan of Frankie Howard or Victorian gentleman are you?
  21. Is that a commonly used word on the streets of Nairobi?
  22. That isn't how it translates for me on Google translate... The article in Italian says "inglese", not Belgium...
  23. I can't see that anywhere in that article.
