Yeah, he would have been on more at City.

Not convinced by these stats? Wiki says £7m on a 4-year deal. So, £3.5m left on amortisation. Plus, we have to consider his wages. If he doesn’t hand in a transfer request (highly unlikely) we’ll also have to pay up his contract. Deadwood can be expensive to get rid of…
-
Think that we'd want £3.5m minimum. Otherwise it could be an accountancy loss. Although we would have recouped two loan fees as well.

Jordan James is an interesting shout. Had a very good season last year in a terrible Leicester team. 34 apps, 11 goals. According to Wiki they had agreed a €5 million option to buy, but the player isn't going to play in League One. So you'd think he would be available for sub-£10m given that he had a good season. I'm sure we've looked at him, as it's a pretty obvious one. But maybe Dan Neil is the type of midfielder we want and the finances work better. Maybe we'd move if we lost another midfielder like Jander. Or, maybe he's destined for West Ham like any decent Championship player, it seems!

The club will be getting paid by FIFA for his services, like all players still registered to clubs, so not all bad that he got in the squad. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c893ndl18y9o c.£120k for Stewart if they go out in Group Stage. Should pay a chunk of his wages until the end of his contract. It looks like Bremen would get Sugawara's FIFA money, as he's temporarily registered there. Whereas we would get the Larin money as he's been permanently transferred.

There were reports that they have already spent those. Leveraged through a lending company like McQuarie or the like. Must have been on a punt for an instant return to the Prem. So, they do get the parachute payment but they have to give it straight to the lender. This has come from Kieran McKenna, a decent source, but I haven't heard it for a while, so wondering if it is actually true.
-
It's 15% of the profit. Appreciate that the transfer fees are usually pretty opaque but if we got £38m and they sell for £80m. 15% of £42m would be £6.3m. Likelihood is they get c.£70m and we get c.£5m. Still a decent contribution to the pot.
-
I'm guessing we are in contract discussions with Charles and that's why we haven't triggered the additional year. If he doesn't sign a new deal or we get concrete interest and he says he wants to leave, we'll trigger it and get more value from the transfer fee.

It's good we've got someone semi-competent on the books. I would imagine though at his age, he needs games. Another loan to a League 1 side would probably benefit him more in his development than sitting on the bench competing for 2nd/3rd choice and maybe playing some cup games. Brighton have done this well with Rushworth and Beadle.
-
As there's such an overhaul in this dept. I think I'd prefer to keep McCarthy as 3rd choice - if he's happy with the role and wages. Sell Baz or loan out. Sell Ramsdale. 1st - Peretz 2nd - New GK 3rd - McCarthy 4th - Young lad from the academy
-
Nope. That only applies if you stay in the Prem for more than one season. If you go straight back down, you only get 2 years.

I've heard Tonda is getting 115 lashes.

A trendy bistro with plenty of yuppie sorts, no doubt.

Question about 50th anniversary shirts from DHGate
Saint Mikey replied to Midfield_General's topic in The Saints
Not much they can do about it either. Football clubs have caused this by being greedy bastards and charging ridiculous prices for replica shirts that cost very little to make. Just like how the music industry was rinsed for being too greedy by Napster/Limewire then streaming services. This is heading the same way. Serves them right for taking the piss. -
Think it was Jack Stacey? He is still there and looks like he alternates with another RB, but has mostly been first choice. Started on Sat and the last few.

EFL to vote on extending the Championship playoffs
Saint Mikey replied to badgerx16's topic in The Saints
This has been in the National League for a few years. How has it unfolded? Any teams finishing 7th or 8th getting to final or promoted? -
I thought that was all Scots?
-
Has Archer been on the pitch much with Azaz? He’s a striker who likes to play on the shoulder, you’d think Finn should be able to find him.

Insurance. In case his move doesn't happen.

Just realised that the window 'slams shut' on Monday, 2nd February at 7pm. Plenty of time for some underwhelming additions and exits.

These are utter guesswork. There's no way Aribo is on £70k in the Champ. Maybe in the Prem but not after the relegation clause. THB on £7.5k a week? A £20m player gets paid significantly more than that even after a relegation clause. Charles would have been on more than £10k a week at City before we signed him. Why would Edwards have been on double the amount Wood? Similar fees, U21 apps etc. Many more examples in there...

For me, it's more about expectations. In the whole time I've supported the club, there have only been a handful of times that have been 'enjoyable'. I was too young to truly appreciate the Lawrie McMenemy years, but these are those moments: - That attacking Chris Nicholl team, 4-2-4, finishing 7th in 89/90. - Strachan's team, Cup Final and 8th. - Rise up the leagues from League 1 and Championship all the way through to Poch and Koeman. - Some bits of Ralph's stint. That's it in c.40 years. That bit in the middle was an anomaly really, it's mostly been shit supporting us.
-
We've got such a huge squad. We've left out: Romeu, Fraser, Aribo, Edwards. Plus injured: Stewart, Roerslev, Downs, Charles, Edozie.

I'm sorry, but there is no way he was on this. I knew someone who did some Saints players' mortgages and Ollie Lancashire and others were on about £1-£2k a week at that time. He was more likely in that bracket given his level of experience and the fact it was 2008. He also signed a 5 year contract (!) which, whilst mental - would have reduced his weekly wage but had more years than usual. We did a few contracts like that around that time. Paul Wotton was given a similar structured deal, less wages, more years. Don't get me wrong, it was good money for him at the time and a utter waste for us. But, he wasn't on anything like £15k a week.
