It is doubtful that was the main reason for bringing in Romeu last season. My guess is that his value was as a mentor to the likes of Bragg and Jander. It'll be interesting to see if their performances drop off this season. Certainly Bragg seemed to lack a bit of composure and authority in his play at Watford. Early days.

Imagine if THB leaves and we fail to recruit another CB….. Captain Jack Crap and Wood as our starting line-up 🤐 Aside from that the whole back four were utter DS today, I worry about Bree he didn't look half the player of last season. Our right wing was non existent, I can't remember a single run to the byeline. Fellows has his faults but at least he give us a semblance of a right wing. Flynn was outstanding, surely with his drive and passion he should be captain. Let's hope Jander will be fit for the next match

Those two players were here already so not impressive at all. Promotion will be impossible if THB, Scienza and Jander bugger off as well as Stewart and Charles and especially given the likelihood of an Eckert ban

It's a game of chess, The club are really saying he is not for sale, a reported £30 m price tag makes a move unlikely but is a sop but not a flat refusal to a player who maybe does want to move on.

It was certainly interesting that during the weekend friendlies in Münster, Bragg played in the early closed doors run out for the stiffs whereas O'BW lined up for the "first team" alongside Flynn Downes. That doesn't sound like he will be treated as a fringe player this season

No point in having a rules based sytem of governance if one can decide which rules to follow and which ones can be ignored because there is no enforcement or consequences.

Apart from Downes, Scienza & Matsuki, there isn't the look of a Championship winning side there. Bree was awful, hope he wasn't a one season wonder. Shouldn't get too many offers for THB on this showing.

What makes you think Stephens is a good leader?

Why challenge every poster with a question? It's cheap, adds nothing to the dicussion and just gets their backs up. Why not rephrase your opinion e.g; "I don't believe that has happened before under the current recruitment team" Far more positive and other posters might warm to you.

He and me both, time to bin Stephens and give the younger palyers a chance… and absolutely yes, give the armband to Taylor, a born leader which Stephens most obviously isn't

Spending loads of money doesn't equate to performance on the field as we have discovered in the past. I doubt the Championship will look much different this season to last in terms of competitiveness, the important thing to remember is that clubs at the top of the Championship are just as good as those at the bottom of the PL. Wolves, WHU & Burnley were relegated because they weren't good enough for the PL and there is no reason to suppose that they will be magically transformed into clubs that can dominate the championship. Saints have the momentum and the frustration of last season's unfortunate ending. They have a much better chance of getting off to a flying start than most others. I've claimed before that we will walk the league this season provided that we don't lose any of our key players in the transfer window or Eckert doesn't get kicked out of football for the season.
