  1. Given the situation that the club is in at the moment, it doesn't really seem that surprising that we'd lose in this fashion today. The players must still be in shock at what's happened. Some must be disillusioned; most must be dispirited. The team must be just as full of doubt and uncertainty as the fans. Not to mention that Lallana's out injured for an indefinite period and Lambert, apparently, has not shaken off his injury properly. It's also not surprising that many fans on here have gone into a major meltdown. Just read some of the hysterical stuff that's been posted on here today. We need to calm down, wait patiently, and see what's in store. Never a dull moment, though, eh?!
  2. Dalek just had a heart attack - he read that as 'gather round a hoddle'.
  3. Finally, some words of sanity. Most of the other stuff on this thread really takes the biscuit.
  4. Some people say ... It has been said ... There are those that think ... It has been brought to my attention that ... Those in the know have been saying ... Rumours are circulating that ... etc., etc.
  5. Everything going to pot, then?
  6. There was an article in today's paper about the fortieth anniversary re-release of Miles Davis' *****es Brew. I am a big fan of his earlier stuff (especially the "cool" period - mid-to-late 50s), but I find this seminal jazz-rock fusion album virtually unlistenable. Every once in a while I'll give it another try, but never seem to make it to the end! Anybody a fan of *****es Brew? Sorry about those asterisks - it's that bloody swear-filter that's at fault. Bastard! [Oooooh! Bastard is OK!]
  7. Scorsese, by the way, has been a great champion of the little-known (these days) English film-making team of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger ('The Archers').
  8. Right - I made the same point earlier (post # 1248 ).
  9. But why sack the other two, then?
  10. Danny Wilson - or are you talking about the other fella?
  11. But why sack the other two? It's the fact that all three went at the same time which is the most important point to remember.
  12. Both great directors. But I'd go with Kubrick. He was more diverse in his subject matter, I think. And a few of his films are amongst my favourites: Paths of Glory, Dr. Strangelove, and 2001: A Space Odyssey.
  13. That good ... er ... that bad?
  14. Ask me after we find out who's taking over, and we've seen how the team responds.
  15. The next time we hear from Cortese, I think, will be when he announces the new manager.
  16. Well, it's been - what? - a day and a half?
  17. I can't help thinking that Cortese can only have made such a decisive and irreversible move in sacking all three simultaneously because a) he has someone already waiting in the wings, and b) he will be bringing in his own backroom people.
  18. A number of people have been posting rumours on this forum that AP was sacked because of personal misbehaviour. This is clearly libellous behaviour - defaming an individual in the public eye without sure knowledge that the information is correct. Not only is this sort of thing illegal, it is also morally wrong. These sorts of rumours should not be written up in a public forum.
  19. Great win. And I'm so relieved that this will quell the constant negativity from the moaning minnies - well, at least for this week, anyway!
  20. Great to see Barnard get the goal he's deserved!
  21. Guly, apparently, is a magnetic performer.
  22. Bristol have certainly had their chances today, but it's our lucky day, apparently.
  23. [Comment for SueWhistle] Too early for me! It's all tea and marmite on toast.
  24. Davis makes a brilliant save to stop Bristol scoring!
  25. Merrington: this is Saints best performance of the season so far.
