Quality player, and seemed to have an everlasting playing career! Doing a decent job as manager too. RIP.
  4. Easy: Nokia Maps. Nokia own Navteq: biggest maping company in the world. Maps of 92 countries - free to download. Public transport routes overlaid onto 94 cities (including the underground in London - showing the stations/lines in their correct colours) Walk mode will take you through shortcuts - e.g. through shopping centres. underpasses etc. Shows distance and estimated time to get there. Maps are stored on the device - so no data charge for using it. And the latest version gives you local points of interest, reviews of local sites (or pubs!) etc. Did I mention its FREE.
  5. Come the Summer you will have a number of nice new options to choose from......
  6. Yep. Been playing with various versions for a few months. Works nicely on an N8/E7. The missus uses a Nokia 700 (the first proper Belle phone). It will be on general release to existing Symbian devices from end of this year (ish). You'll have to upgrade to Anna first though.
  7. Go on then..... No, you can't use your Apple apps and services on a WP7 OS. Yes, you get free cloud stirage (25GB - rumoured to be extended to unlimited) Do you get: 'Live Tiles' not boring app icons? - Excellent way to interact with the phone The 'People Hub' - all your contacts from anywhere you log into in a single place, with status updates, feeds etc? (Inc. all email providers, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc). Can't imagine life without this now Integration with XBox Live. You see and interact with you Avatar on the phone. Brill! Out of the box integration with the MS Office suite, Office 365 and OneNote? Cross platform (text, facebook chat etc) threaded conversations? Free music downloads - streamed and stored on device (Nokia Music - really cool) Free voice guided walk/drive sat nav, across 92 countries - which works without a sim? iPhone is the daddy - rightly so, but the WP7 OS is great, and Nokia has really given it life with decent phones. And some of the stuff coming along later is just fantastic. In 2 years WP7 will have a bigger market share than Android.
  8. You'll be lucky to get a Nokia N9, and even if you did you can't get apps. Its the only device on the Meego platform. You might mean Nokia Lumia 800 - which looks similar. The WP7 operating system is very easy to use, and very 'personable' - i.e. set up specifically how you want it. Suggest she goes and plays with all options. I know which I prefer!
  9. It is excellent: feels very solidly built, loverly smooth curves, the screen (which is slightly curved too) is superb (use the Clear Black Display technology) - icons almost look like they are floating. WP7 is very good to use - just great to play with. You can make it so personal with the live tiles, and the ''hubs' approach is opening a whole new world to apps. X-Box integration is awesome. Overall it is great; not bad for 8 months work. Good advertising campaign too. Hope the paying public think so too.....
  10. I was wrong; it was 5 minutes. Go on Apple guys - give Lumia a try....
  11. In fact, about 20 minutes I think...
  12. Its a **** test with no relevance to living in the UK. Added to this is the fact that not all people seeking residency need to take it: if your English is not good enough then you can do a 9 week course (1.5 hours a week), which includes assessments (basic listening and speaking). At the end of the course you get an official government certificate to include in your ILR application. Which means you can have **** English skills but still get residency.
  13. Symbian Belle is excellent. If it had come out a year ago Nokia would be a far different company now. Been playing with it on an E7 for a few weeks - runs faster than Symbian3 and Symbian Anna: 70% less code. I was refering to something else though. Not long now........
  14. You're gonna LOVE whats coming.
  15. You can't swallow your tongue: not medically possible. It can block you breathing though.
  16. Christ. I had forgotten all about him! Clearly made a massive impact on me...
  17. Anyone tried Windows Phone 7? The latest version 'Mango' is seriously good. Social integration and the 'Peop,e Hub' really is a great experience.
  18. Used Symbian 'Belle' yet? Very different experience - good though.
  19. Nokia Windows Phone out in November. And its excellent.
  20. Watched 'Let the Right One In' on Film 4 t'other night. Swedish horro/romance movie. Nice little film - really enjoyed it. 8/10 Source Code: Decent, but should have ended 5 minutes before it did: hate Hollywood ending - what's wrong with leaving it hanging? 7/10 Limitless - Good silly fun. 7/10
  21. Good thread! Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter Stone Roses - Fools Gold Levellers - Another Mans Cause Simple Minds - Hunter and the Hunted Down in the Tube Station at Midnight - Jam Harlot's Ghost - Norman Mailer
