http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?45252-Social-media-pages-and-important-links-for-Saints-fans-outside-Southampton#.UeNiPtJHKSo That's the current listing of all our supporter groups outside Southampton. Check the Australian or New Zealand Facebook links for an idea of what I'm talking about.

Hi Guys, I run the Australian Supporters group, we now have 1500+ members, having only had 300 six months ago. I'd be more than happy to help you guys build numbers. All it would take is for one of you to either find the existing Midlands supporter group or make a Facebook page(not group) yourself(incredibly easy). Once you have that in place I'll add it to our listing of all groups outside Southampton and walk you through best avenues of promotion on Facebook. Recently spent $20 on our New Zealand page and the numbers climbed from 23 to 190 within three days, all Southampton fans, residing in New Zealand. To give you a brief idea of the number of Southampton fans in the Midlands, I've used Coventry as the center mark. Remember that these are only numbers for people that use Facebook: Within a 25mile radius of Coventry there are 820 Southampton fans. When stretched out to 50miles that number grows to 1820 I can't speak more highly of having a supporter group in place. Along with watching matches together, you guys have the added bonus of arranging and splitting transfer costs to games if and when necessary. So the next step is for one or two of you to take the reigns and set up a Facebook page for the Midlands Saints and we'll go from there. Hope that helps, Trevor.

Hi John, I've added all three. I also had a quick check of numbers and there are quite a few Saints fans up north! As a quick example, there are 2,600 Southampton supporters on Facebook, living within 50 miles of Manchester. However, it's a little harder to bring all these people together with a group instead of a page. They're very easy things to set up, you could always run both simultaneously, as the group offers more privacy. Happy to help if need be, just let me know. Cheers, Trevor.

For those on any of the 'Big 3' Social media websites: Twitter/Facebook/Instagram try and include #globalsfc when posting while watching matches this season. A pretty nifty and easy way to connect all our overseas fans on Matchday. So if you're outside the U.K this season, watching the game with or without other fans and posting about it, please add the #globalsfc hashtag.

All the above groups have a chance to get exclusive Matchday coverage and direct shout outs and plugs from the players this season. We need to get @ Andythesaint9 to 1000+ followers before the season starts for the club to tick off on the idea. If you run one of the above Twitter groups, please ask your fans to follow Andy. Otherwise, please follow him yourself. Excellent opportunity for our overseas supporter groups

A thread of helpful things for expats

For those on Twitter we will have @ Andythesaint9 bringing our OS fans exclusive behind the scenes Matchday coverage, including player shout outs to our groups and fans watching the match from all over the world! The club needs him to get to 1000 followers before they tick it off though. Spread the word! Excellent opportunity for building our global supporter groups -
I'm putting together some feature stories for this season's matchday programme and would love to hear from you if you match any of the below: * You've traveled from abroad to see Southampton play in the last two seasons. * You plan to head over for next season. * You've traveled FROM Southampton during a season and met up with one of our overseas supporter groups. * You plan to travel FROM Southampton during the upcoming season and will be heading to a city with an active supporter group(check the sticky at the top of this page). My email for this is saintsletiss@hotmail.com or you can message me on here. Thanks in advance! Trevor.

Not talking about away days here either, interested to hear tales of people going extraordinary lengths to follow the Saints from abroad. Be it from those living outside Southampton or locals that have been on holiday during the season. I know it’s easier to follow from outside the U.K now that we’re in the Premier League, but some of my favourite memories are from listening to Saints Player in the early hours of the morning, Fonte’s goal against Brighton being the highlight. I also listened to the Bournemouth away win in the middle of NSW, sitting in the only place in the campsite I could charge my laptop, the laundry. Had one of those annoying sensor lights that would go out every ten seconds, luckily enough I couldn’t sit still anyway! I’m sure there are Saints fans that have received weird looks while being tuned in to a dodgy hotel internet feed somewhere, to listen to whispering Dave and his ‘what we don’t want to doooo now’ speech. Or tried a dozen different pubs to find one that's showing our game. On a similar trend, have you bumped into a fellow Saints fan in another country? As enjoyable as following the Saints from different parts of the globe can be, it doesn’t compare to watching it with other half-crazy fans. So with that experience in mind and for possible future reference, I set a thread up on the overseas page to help get all the groups in one place. (Link to groups) For now though, I’d love to hear other people's Southampton tales from afar.

I'll keep this updated regularly. It will act as a useful link for Saints fans travelling abroad during the season, as well as those who are relocating permanently, allowing them to get in touch with fans in the area straight away! THE CLUB has now jumped on board our idea of the #GlobalSFC hashtag saintsfc.co.uk/globalsaints to be used for all events/news/pictures and updates from our overseas supporters. We've already had contributions from Saints fans in Hungry, Afghanistan, Trinidad, New Zealand and Hull.. If you know of any other overseas Southampton groups that aren't already on the list, please post them below. If you live in an area that doesn't have a FB or Twitter group, feel free to set one up and I'll add it to the list. NOT on SOCIAL MEDIA? NO PROBLEM: Almost all of the content listed below is accessible to those without accounts. Keep up with events/news in your area by clicking on one of the links below. #GlobalSFC To view the content coming through on Twitter or Insta To join the conversation, simply add #GlobalSFC to your posts on social media. Ramirez, his first season, how good has he been?
aussiesaint20 replied to Barry Sanchez's topic in The Saints
Watching the second half replay now, has been an impressive performance by Gaston. I just hope he can build his fitness base and perform consistently for us next season. He's shown glimpses of brilliance(Villa at home). If he can do that more often, we have a player that we could build a front four around. GASTON, Jay Rod, Rickie and one of Punch/Adam/S.Davis/new signing!? With Cork and Morgan sitting in front of Shaw, Clyne and hopefully a reliable CB pairing. There's something to get excited about. -

Tell him to join 'Southampton Australian Supporters' on Facebook and @AussieSaintsSAS on Twitter and he can't go wrong. We're 460+ now on FB so there's no shortage of Saints fans to have a beer with in Brisbane or any other major city! -

Had actually planned to come on here to promote the new twitter page, but you've done the work for me! If you're in Oz, or ever plan to head there and support the mighty Saints, that's your one stop shop. COYR! -
As a younger Saints fan, having only attended my first match in 2008 it's been great to be able to read so many interesting and informative posts about Southampton's history over the last couple of days. Being born in 88, even MLT's finest work was done before my best recollection of Southampton football begins. So when it comes to Southampton greats my list is limited to a couple who would put their hand up, but probably not compete with the stars of the past, although Rickie must be close..I learnt a lot about our History through books and web sources, but the best source of information has always been through speaking to Southampton fans themselves. On my three trips over to watch Southampton play I've always been interested to hear what the older generations have to say about players from our past. I can only hope the next generation will enjoy hearing about the Rickie Lambert inspired back to back promotions. As stated many times above, I would also be a more active poster if the mod's would remove the clear WUM's and relentless pests from the board. Thanks again guys!

If our push to be a top 6 team is a realistic one and not just a pie in the sky dream do we need to focus more efforts on growing Southampton outside the UK? The EPL is one of England’s best exports and global TV ratings are incredible and growing at a rapid rate. Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal must have a huge amount of extra support and therefore revenue coming from overseas. What, if anything can Southampton do to build our overseas base? Or is it just something that inevitably comes with sustained success? In my work of promoting and finding Saints fans all across Australia, I’m continually surprised as to just how many of us are out there, especially considering our recent five year journey in the English leagues. I also stumbled across the Thailand Saints on Facebook(880 members) and the Indonesian Saints on Twitter (1100 members). Along with our 450+ on FB and 90 in our first day on Twitter, there is a base support already in place. I know that when one of our members goes over to St. Mary’s they’re inundated with shopping requests and come back with $100’s of $ worth of Saints’ merchandise. We’re doing our small bit down here, should the club be doing more? If so, what?? Basically, is the global market one we should be actively chasing or do we just concede it to the ‘Big Four?’ The Man Utd and Liverpool friendlies coming up in Australia in July sold 160,000 tickets within a couple of hours. Should we look at pre season tours in Asia? A massive EPL market. To Man City for example, with their unlimited millions this wouldn’t be too big of an issue, but with our more ‘sustainable’ outlook to the club’s finances a higher international revenue could be very useful. Consider it an open brainstorming session. Apologies for the lack of Kelvin Davis sightings, random transfer rumous or Guly/Fox is shi*e comments.

New Zealand Saints
aussiesaint20 replied to Saint in Paradise's topic in Overseas Saints / Supporters Groups
Might be an idea for one of you to set up a 'NZ Southampton Supporters' facebook page. Very easy to do, we're up to 360 on our 'Southampton Australian Supporters' group. Have also had a few messages from NZ Saints fans on there asking if there any other NZ Saints. So if one of you sets it up, I can promote it on our page! COYR! -

Get down to your state's live Aussie Saints venue for the match against Reading! Take advantage of a friendly kick off time. The following is taken from the 'Southampton Australian Supporters' facebook page: The numbers of our SAS group have almost doubled in the last two months so in combination with an EARLY kick off on the 6th of April we will be hosting a live event in every capital city(sorry Tassie!) for the Reading match. It will be a great chance to meet up with other Saints fans from your city and watch our beloved Saints at a reasonable hour! Events in every state will be starting two hours before kick off to allow for plenty of time to talk all things Saints. So if at all possible get down early to share a pint/s with fellow Saints fans. Each venue also serves food for those wanting to have dinner pre game. Family and friends more than welcome! But sorry, no skates. KICK OFF TIMES FOR EACH STATE: Perth 7.45pm Brisbane 9.45pm Adelaide 10.15pm Syd+Melb 10.45pm VENUES FOR EACH STATE PERTH: The Charles Hotel Address: 509 Charles St, North Perth WA 6006 BRISBANE: Pig 'N' Whistle Riverside Address: 123 Eagle St, Brisbane QLD 4000 ADELAIDE: Rosemont Hotel Address: 160 Hindley St, Adelaide SA 5000 SYDNEY: PJ Gallagher's @The Criterion Hotel Address: 260 Pitt St Cnr Park Street Sydney 2000(in the downstairs Bar called 'The Snug') MELBOURNE: The Imperial Hotel Address: 2/8 Bourke St, Melbourne VIC 3000 WEAR red and white, bring a loud voice and enjoy watching the Saints on a big screen with fellow supporters.
