Once again, missing the point. Never mind.
-
So I've mixed metaphors a bit; I was expecting that anyone with half a brain cell would know what I'm getting at. Sorry if it went over your head.
-
I find that the more tense the game is, the quieter the fans are because they're holding their breath watching the game. On the other hand, there are fans who are so busy slagging off the opposition fans that they only actually watch 50% of the game. I know which I think is a 'better fan'.
-
I don't agree with this whole 'I'm better than you' rubbish, or 'you're a plastic because' talk, but I will never ever understand why anyone would want to miss any of the game, whether it be to fit in a couple of pints at half time or to 'beat the traffic'. If you care about how the team does at all surely you couldn't tear yourself away until the whistle has gone?! I'll never, ever understand it.
-
Crazy. I'll never understand this. I find it embarrassing when our own fans are pouring out of the stadium before full time, although I get a slightly smug feeling when I get back to the Hi-Q car park to find that I've blocked one of the early leavers in and they've had to wait anyway.
-
Except for the 45/50 million we did spend? Pelle, Tadic, Gardos, Long, Forster...
-
You're right, one game doesn't game a great keeper, however Forster has had many good games this season. We wouldn't have beaten QPR if it weren't for him and I he has made key saves in many others. All keepers make mistakes, even the best in the world. If you're waiting for him to go a whole season without making any mistakes I'm afraid you're waiting for something that will never happen.

I always thought that Poch was more protected against criticism because he couldn't be easily misquoted by the press when he had a translator. Probably not the reason why Spurs are underperforming, but could possibly have something to do with it.

I click on add to basket when trying to buy a half season ticket in the chapel stand and a message says 'Please ensure that you allocate each ticket you are purchasing to a separate Customer Number. This will ensure that each Customer Number has the correct purchase history, which will be used to determine eligibility for Category A fixtures. To Link Friends and Family to your account please click here. There are no items in the basket I am not leaving a seat on its own, in fact Iam taking up a seat on its own! It won't let me buy a ticket anywhere in the stand.

Someone please explain to me why it cost £39 to see Newcastle this season, only £1 cheaper than it was to see Chelsea in the same price band last season. That is definitely the day I felt most ripped off at St Mary's (although we did win 4-0!).

Ha! Reed out! Bloody hell, chill out. It's not a new thing that football shirts are poor quality.
-
Why do some people on this forum have a desire to constantly criticise the club? It's hard to believe this is a site for Saints fans at times.
-
Is it me or is the badge absolutely tiny? Last year I tweeted the leaked home shirt and said if eat my hat if it was out new home kit. I had to buy a nacho hat.
-
If the Veho deal doesn't start until July 1st, we won't see a new kit for another 11 days at least, so there's no point criticising the club for not announcing it yet. I swear people on this site just look for reasons to panic.

I always thought his use of a translator was a stroke of genius at Saints- if he speaks through his translator he can't be mis-quoted or have his words twisted in the press. The language barrier meant that the translated phrasing was always the translators 'version', and whereas the football press would normally take quotes and twist them to mean whatever they want, they could never do that with Poch. It protected the players and it protected him from criticism. Now that he's speaking English, watch him become the target when things go bad!
-
Fund, not find!
-
Obviously I would rather we kept him than not, but I was thinking the other day that his one negative was his big signings. Assuming that he decided who to sign last summer, Wanyama and Osvaldo have not impressed in my view, with Lovren being the only stand out purchase. Most of the Saints success stories have been players that either Atkins or Pardew bought, who perhaps Poch improved through tactics and training. Maybe part of why he left was because the board were unwilling to find another Poch summer spending spree with £15 million of dead wood on loan at Juve last season.

Chambers v Shaw - am I deluding myself...
deadpanmatt replied to Legod Second Coming's topic in The Saints
Shaw is very good, but to say that he 'has never been mugged off defensively' is just wrong. He was caught out quite a few times in the first half of the season- he benefitted from regular games this season and got better as the season went on. I agree that he's better than Chambers, but I can't help but wonder how much better Chambers would be if he got that much game time this season too. -
He's got the chance to play Champions League football and make a high profile move- he's excited and wants it to happen. He doesn't hate Saints, it's just one of those things. There may also be some poisonous stuff going on behind the scenes (not unlikely) that he wants to get away from. I was devastated that Lambert went, but these things happen.

I acknowledge that Man Utd will not be playing at the highest level next season. How could I forget this frankly fantastic detail?! -

The idea that someone on £1million wouldn't be tempted by doubling their wages because it wouldn't impact their daily life much is a bit romanticised. Imagine how excited you'd be if you got offered a big money move to a huge club like Chelsea, Liverpool or Man Utd where you'd probably become a global star whilst also playing at the highest level. I don't think you could blame any player for taking that opportunity. I hope they both stay, but it is naive to think that loyalty counts for more than everything the big clubs can offer in modern football. My personal view is that it's pointless speculating anyway- in his book the Secret Footballer says that half of the transfer rumours you read are totally made up my agents or players who just want to stir things up a bit or negotiate better contracts. -

I'm happy at my current job, but if someone came up to me and offered to double or treble my wages to move jobs, I'd have to seriously consider it. The same goes for footballers; they may love the club, but that doesn't mean a big job offer (with Champions League football) wouldn't tempt them. -
Who is to blame for the Summer of inactivity?
deadpanmatt replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
Why does lots of buying = success? We've got a solid team with emerging youngsters. If the right players aren't available I'd rather the team stay as it is and add when the right players come along. "Who is to blame?" I wouldn't 'blame' anyone, because nothing bad has happened. -
I agree that the colours are nice on the away one, I just can't stand that big white bit on the armpit. Really ugly.
