  1. Normally yes but in this case with a strong possibility of a hung parliament there is a good chance that implementing some of the lib-dem policies would be the price involved for supporting one of the other parties.
  2. That's why its going to be very interesting to see what Cameron does for next week. Avoid interview: * Will play into hands of other parties, especially lib-dems * Will give Brown a ready made excuse for not being interviewed the following week Go ahead with interview: * Will just about force Brown to do same following week.. but.. * Could do great damage to tory campaign if interview does not go well.
  3. This idea about referendum's on everything is again something that sounds appealing but then you have to look at what that approach has done to California. One of the main reasons it is in dire financial straights is the cost of all the projects that have been voted in on their referendums. Not to mention all the negative attack advertising from special interest groups that usually appear to accompany any vote on anything mildly controversial.
  4. Interesting game of Chicken going on between the BBC and Cameron and Brown. All three leaders invited to be interviewed by Paxman. Only Clegg, as far as I know, accepted. Now Paxman has come out and said he hopes to interview Cameron next week and Brown the week after so both are going to look like chickens if they don't now go on.
  5. Oh Dear, West Ham 1-0 Up.....
  6. I think you may be right as there is almost certainly a difference between how the FA etc categorise preferential debt compared to the legal interpretation of secured debts for a CVA.
  7. Its quite remarkable that of the 14 billion serious enquiries (or there abouts) we are down to the one most comical one. Who could have predicted that? (Question for non-saints fans only I think!).
  8. I think that it would be funny if it was the serious fraud squad shelled out the 5K to get a look at the books under cover of a 'takeover' so that those who would eventually be hit by charges never knew what was coming.
  9. Does it? Its a sad day when the only thing their opponents appear to be saying is vote for us because we are not them! Have they not heard of the phrase out the frying pan and into the fire? Just because the tories are not labour does not make them better. They should be trying to prove they will be better not giving themselves a hernia jumping from bandwagon to bandwagon. We will cut the deficit, no wait a minute we will cut taxes (lets not mention the inheritance tax cuts for the very wealthy we have already proposed even though we need every penny we can get).
  10. I heard Maradona is being bought in to help solve their injury crisis as they are hoping all the players will be miraculously healed by the touch of the hand of god.
  11. Or possibly he realises there is a good chance there will not be a club to manage past the end of the season...?
  12. Strange I thought most of the current mess has been caused by dubious financial practices of wrapping up toxic loans into financial instruments no one really realised would be a problem till the popping sounds started. As to grasping the nettle most (i.e. outside the tory party) experts warn about cutting public spending too soon. To cut it now would be like having a vigorous dance at the top of a cliff after clambering back up after being caught in a landslide. You might be okay but there is a substantial risk you could be plummeting down again because of it.
  13. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1262038/Nadir-Belhadj-injury-set-scupper-Russia-move.html Portsmouth's hopes of cashing in on Nadir Belhadj have been dealt a double blow. CSKA Moscow are interested in the £4.5million-rated Algeria left-back, but a thigh injury will keep him out beyond the April 8 transfer deadline in Russia. Belhadj is also far from thrilled by the prospect of playing in Moscow and admits that staying in England or moving to Spain would be more attractive.
  14. So what's the record winning margin for an FA cup semi final?
  15. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/portsmouth/article7079556.ece The Premier League’s lawyers are already working in conjunction with their Football League counterparts to share information regarding the ownership of Portsmouth, a development that would cast doubt about the prospect of Balram Chainrai resuming control at the club. Andrew Andronikou, the Portsmouth administrator, suggested last week that, with none of the potential buyers having yet proved their credibility, Chainrai is “the only one who ticks all the boxes”. That set alarm bells ringing at the headquarters of the Premier League, with Chainrai, the Hong Kong businessman, yet to pass a “fit and proper” owner’s test since he took control of the club when Ali al-Faraj, the previous owner, defaulted on loan repayments in January. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/portsmouth/7532910/Richard-Scudamore-Portsmouths-financial-plight-has-hurt-Premier-League.html Richard Scudamore has blamed Portsmouth's slide into administration on the club's "rank bad management" http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/mar/27/avram-grant-portsmouth-administrator Andronikou has been the administrator for more than a month and has repeatedly voiced a desire to attract a new proprietor. Yet he has not carried out a forensic examination of the club's books, which would help any potential purchaser, saying it is not his top priority. Supporters are worried about the delay in examining the club's accounts. Mike Hall, from Pompey-Fans.com, said: "In terms of securing the future of the club surely any buyer wants to know the true liability of the business and as the debt seems to be a moving target this has to be examined." Andronikou said: "We've started looking at the accounts and records of the club. It is a slow and methodical process, but its not our primary area of concern." Asked if there was any difficulty in accessing the accounts he added: "Its all readily available."
  16. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/tottenham/article7078048.ece Yesterday Tottenham announced a loss of £6.1 million for the six-month period until the end of December. Revenue fell by £1 million to £53 million. And so the redknapp virus starts its destructive infection of another new host club...
  17. It's like joining a sinking ship then complaining loudly that you feet get wet.
  18. Ah! But you have to remember but pompey are a special case and normal rules, like paying tax, do no apply to them.
  19. Rumour has it that pompey have asked spurs to help get both teams to the same level by making crouch play on his knee's.
  20. So I guess the creditor's committee will consist of HMRC, Gady boy, Sol Campbell and bob the builder. Should be fun.
  21. When is the creditors meeting that the court said had to be held soon. Must be any day now mustn't it?
  22. Especially as he is known to favour the FA as the answer to a lot of the most pressing questions in football. For example: Q) Was Pompey used for money laundering? Storrie A) I know sweet FA about that.
  23. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/frattonlatest/The-squads-all-yours-now.6172379.jp The administrator has also pledged no more members of the Blues squad will follow Dindane by being prevented from featuring for the club for the remainder of the season. That is despite other appearance bonuses coming up for players with clauses in their contracts which will trigger payments to the relevant Blues stars. Does he really think they can avoid relegation and surely he should be acting to reduce the spend not letting Grant pick what ever team he wants never mind the cost?
  24. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11674_6049269,00.html AA thinks he will have the CVA agreed before the June deadline. Plus obviously no one about to immediately buy the club as: He added: "We are taking things slowly to ensure we find the right people. It could be another six weeks or so before anything is decided."
