  1. Luckily for them AA latest figures show that only £749 of the HMRC debt can be included...
  2. To be honest given the optimistic circumstances that need to occur for the full 20p in the pound to be paid I expect a lot of the creditors could well settle for 5p in the pound up front on the grounds that that way they are then at least sure of getting something.
  3. Talk about desperation, expect a statement this afternoon along the lines of "If HMRC appeal I will shoot the kitten".
  4. I think the P in his username actually stands for paranoid. Actually given the chance of them going down the plughole I should think those running the cup competitions would be glad not to have them in from the start.
  5. That could be leaving it a tad late...
  6. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jul/14/portsmouth-football-league-transfer-embargo However the journo does not appear to realise that James is no longer a Portsmouth player and can't resign for them under the embargo so not sure how much faith to put in the story.
  7. It would be less than 52% if they had a Blue Square Premier South option.
  8. I expect that its now too late to start an AFC Pompey for this coming season.
  9. Can anyone remind me when the tax avoidance court cases are likely to be held? Was that October as well or was it into next year? Judge: I would like to thank Mr Storrie for his testimony on the size of the portsmouth debt and would now like to remind him that he is needed urgently in the dock in Court 3.
  10. I see their tour is going like clockwork!? http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2010/jul/13/once-proud-portsmouth-now-plagued/
  11. Another pressing question.... Are their any photo's of AA out there that are not inherently funny?
  12. Why have expensive hair replacement therapy when you can use new, improved, coffee stain.
  13. Then he should ask for his money back (though may only get 20p in the pound!).
  14. I know one person at pompey more well known than just about everyone in that squad... AA come on down....
  15. You can get it on a lower contract if you look around. Luckily for us when I got the wife hers TMobile had it on a 160 up front and a tenner a month for 2 years (only 100 mins and 100 text but unlimited internet). Then Tmobile decided it was such a good deal to remove it but it still only costs a tenner a month but they have taken the 160 as advanced payment. Take off the 40 quid I got back via quid co and the phone + 2 years free internet comes to about 200 quid. :D
  16. Another option is to get a cheap reconditioned small netbook with a built in card reader so you could be sure you had copied the files over okay.
  17. Somewhat cheaper if you have a suitably sized USB stick you could try one of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-USB-Anywhere-data-copier/dp/B000CRPTCA
  18. Wife has a desire and its very good. You can get a 16gig micro SD for 20 quid and the phone can handle ogg music files which helps get a fair amount of music on it if you want to go down to a single device.
  19. Actually its really only 150 incompetent teachers. Apparently the person doing the estimates had a cr*p maths teacher.
  20. You have to remember that unlike the one size fits all of the iphone android phones come in a large range of sizes with a large range of screen sizes. Some of those at the lower end of the market do not have large screens so you can obviously provide the users of these with a far better 'shopping' experience for find apps by allowing the owners to use a full sized/full resolution pc screen to browse, search, select the apps they want to install. By using a web interface you can make searching for the app you want a lot easier beyond the simple word search option currently available.
  21. When you boot your machine it should list all disk drives and CD/DVD drives that are attached. If it does not show the device then there is no way the OS will find it.
  22. Firstly because using a PC or whatever enables you to provide a nicer interface. Think of it as being like using itunes to get your app but without the need to download it and then make sure it syncs with the phone. Just select 'yes please' to the app you want and let the system handle the downloading and installing of the app in the background. It's hard to see how it could be made easier. Google do not have an itunes app and given their webcentric view of the world having a web interface to their app store is something that would obviously appeal to them above a installable program such as itunes. Secondly yes there is a difference is strategy between apple and google on how to deal with malware. Apple attempt to catch this as their approval stage (never going to be 100% successful) where as google rely on having the app specifically request what privileges it requires to be confirmed by the user (i.e. you would be rather suspicious if a game you tried to install requested access to your contacts) and having user feedback very obvious on the store. Horses for courses but at least with the google approach you are less at the whim of a single person.
  23. If you read a later register story (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/07/02/google_android_install_asset/) you will find that the remote install is ready for an upcoming change to the google marketplace where you will be able to browse the marketplace on a normal computer and select apps you want to install on your phone and these will then be installed automatically. If they get that to work the google market place experience is likely to leapfrog the iphone/itunes ones.
  24. I personally would like to thank for the French for showing that no matter how bad England are things could always be worse.
  25. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jun/18/steve-cotterill-portsmouth-manager AA off to France to talk to a prospective buyer. Though I have it on authority that talks will be difficult... (yes I know he's dead!).
