Given this new information from the guardian article can anyone clarify what is likely to happen if they get put into administration before the 10th?
-
Assuming he want's anything more than the real estate.
-
Given it postdates the winding up order there must be a strong chance that it would be thrown out I would guess if it prejudices other parties owed money getting their fair share? If it leaves HMRC with less than they might expect one would assume they would not be happy about it.

The Portsmouth "White is black and black is white, honest" teller of the truth is back in the media I see. http://www.tribalfootball.com/portsmouth-chief-jacob-begovic-pushed-stoke-move-618551 Portsmouth chief Mark Jacob insists goalkeeper Asmir Begovic pushed to be sold to Stoke City. Jacob says the decision to leave was entirely down to the 22-year-old and that Begovic ignored pleas to stay at Fratton Park for the remaining 18 months of his contract.

This is my favorite quote today : http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1248023/Avram-Grants-blasts-Portsmouth-broken-promises-Premier-League-holds-2m-Kaboul-Begovic-sales.html Avram Grant... 'When I came to the team, I knew the situation was not good with the football side, but they promised me everything was good with the financial side

As mentioned a few pages back it was claimed in a paper that for the 6 million for kaboul 1.8m was withheld to pay wages (possibly only playing staff), 2.5 was withheld due to transfer payments coming up soon and the remainder went to HMRC.

Good point. I think he fails to draw the distinction between creditors who you owe money to for good and services (in pompeys case almost all of them) and those who have loaned the club money against various assets. The creditors may only get 10p in the pound but those loaning money against assets get the assets.

Can someone please just put them into administration now!
-
I guess that's what pompey asked them to do? After all they are not bust (yet) so I assume they still have control over which creditors they pay?

I posted this on the 'will they survive' thread on the main board According to: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/feb/01/transfer-window-portsmouth-stoke Players and staff at the stricken south coast club have still to be paid wages for January, though the Premier League has earmarked £1.8m from the £6m Portsmouth received from the sale of Younes Kaboul back to Tottenham Hotspur. A further £2.5m of that amount will go directly to Chelsea and Watford as the latest tranche of the money owed on the transfers of Glen Johnson, Mike Williamson and Tommy Smith, with the remainder to be channeled directly to Her Majesty's *Revenue and Customs. The Premier League is aware that a further £12.5m in payments is due before the end of the season to clubs in relation to previous transfers, £4m of which is due to Udinese, Rennes and Lens in mid-March. A payment of £9m which the club's former owner, Sacha Gaydamak, claimed was due at the end of January has also apparently not been met as yet. So for the kaboul payment 1.8M is going to the players, 2.5M to other clubs and 1.7M to HMRC. Question is what will happen to the 3.25 for their goalie? If that goes via the PL it may also go direct to HMRC meaning that despite the sales the club has not got in any working capital during the transfer window.

Think tomorrow match against Fulham is a make or break match for pompey. If they win their position in the league looks a lot better as they would be in touching distance of getting out the relegation zone, lose and they will be adrift once more. As such the result could well have an influence on anyone stupid enough to be considering investing in them.

You don't need money to spend if you don't pay the bills! Or more specifically they appear to be diverting what money they can to keep the playing side going while letting other area's go to pot. Some logic in that no one would want to buy a football club without a football team so keeping the players happy is the only slim chance they have. Even the sun report talks about a 1.8M wage bill where as the bill for the whole club is nearer £3M so they are effectively saying 'we will only pay the players'.

None of these last day, beyond last minute, transfers have been confirmed in the main stream media so not sure how certain they really are. I believe the signed documents have to be faxed to the FA before the deadline so 'having the documents ready to sign' does not really count. To have one transfer after the deadline needing special dispensation is pushing you luck, to go for three is just not going to happen.

Stop padding
-
Thing is there are several winding up orders that are effectivly being heard at the same time so if the HMRC one is delay because of an appeal over the tax law it will not stop the other(s) as they are just for monies owning.

Hope he brings enough money to pay for his own taxi from the airport

Look on the bright side. The last one out will not have to turn off the lights as the electricity company will deal with that.

Not really up there with 'one small step for man...' is it?

Ha! Can't fool me with you're meercat mind trickery! Trying to get me to go back to the beginning so you can get the 10,000th post.
-
Think they have got to the point that selling more players is like trying to bail out a sinking boat using a tea spoon.
-
No, its 50 a page I believe. (and if the mods delete any of the earlier ones can you delete 3). Would be good if the 10,000th coincided with the closure of the transfer window.

Never mind the 10,000 post I claim first post on the 200th page!
