  1. Probably the blitz spirit kicking in. That, or the food additives in their pot noodles (assuming they still own a kettle?).
  2. Actually as a tribute to pompey I was considering posting well above what is sensible in an attempt to buy the 10,000th post.
  3. Like they are going to last for another 9 games ?!
  4. Here, hold this.... and ignore the ticking sound, it nothing really...
  5. My suspicion is that they know that even if they get rid of almost the whole team they would still not have enough to pay their debts. By keeping a plausible team together it increases their chance that someone might be stupid enough to give them more money.
  6. From guardian.. 2.03pm: Portsmouth have rejected a bid from Stoke for Asmir Begovic, and are considering reporting Stoke to the Premier League for tapping-up-related crimes.
  7. Though it appears to be a third hand story via the user comments rather than an official echo story so not exactly cast iron.
  8. James not going to spuds. http://www.fansfc.com/story/18657.html As much as Harry Redknapp admires his former goalkeeper at Portsmouth, the form of Heurelho Gomes means he won’t be bidding for the 39-year-old. "I love Jamo, I think he's fantastic,” he said. “I still think he's the best English goalkeeper but the situation is that he needs to play. I couldn't leave Gomes out of my team. “Obviously Jamo needs to play to go to the World Cup Finals. He's a top goalkeeper but he needs to play to cement his place in the World Cup team."
  9. ITs all that nasty premier leagues fault you know! http://www.fansonline.net/portsmouth/article.php?id=1301 SOS POMPEY! Portsmouth Fans United For Their Club PRESS RELEASE POMPEY FANS TO TAKE THEIR PROTEST TO THE PREMIER LEAGUE Pompey appear to have their best players being sold by a convicted fraudster. The Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director and Manager have disavowed any involvement in these transfer deals. This means there is a very real possibility the club is being effectively run by three times convicted fraudster Danny Azougy acting as a Shadow Director, which is against Premier League rules. Why have the Premier League refused to act? Why are they allowing their rulebook to be flouted? SOS Pompey encourages all fans travelling to Fulham on Wednesday 3rd February to congregate outside: FA Premier League headquarters at 30 Gloucester Place, London, W1U 8PL at 5.00pm SOS Pompey asks all supporters to demonstrate peacefully and refrain from any racist chanting. 10. How this interacts with players sales etc is going to be an interesting knot someone is going to have to untie!
  11. You have to admire (I guess) Grants chutzpah: Avram Grant has accused the Premier League of not giving Portsmouth a fair chance to avoid the drop. Although the transfer embargo that was placed on Pompey last month has now been lifted, it only extends to loan players. "The Premier League made a big mistake," he told BBC TV's Match of the Day. "They needed to give us an equal chance.
  12. Is anyone else amazed how little there is in the main stream media about the chances of pompey going into liquidation and thus being no more or are we being too negative about their situation?
  13. They were given leave to appeal, we know that. The uncertainty is that there is no hard evidence has arisen to show they have.
  14. If they have appealed surely their must be evidence beyond Storrie saying so to prove it? Or is any mention of it hidden behind a triple terry strength injunction?
  15. Plus the winding up order has been joined by other parties no affected by the minutia of VAT law.
  16. I guess the question is, given he is not likely to get his money, is the only recourse open to him to add his name to the winding up order? I believe he could attempt to put them into administration?
  17. Possibly but its interesting they just chose to take the one word out of his judgement (that I assume has not been released) and base their idea of appealing on that? no clarification of what area he thought was difficult or what there argument against it was. You wonder if its like when a critic says "I wanted it to be brilliant but it was crap" and they just put "brilliant" on the poster. anyway the bottom line is there is no documented evidence they have appealed and with extra names on the winding up order who want their money and are not subject to the appeal as they are more clear cut.
  18. Still at least there is a winding up order he can add his name to to join the queue.
  19. Its not like you can even call the one day ball a cherry?
  20. gadys 9M is due tomorrow is the main reason I believe. --- Sorry I think that's actually today???
  21. I wonder if the judge used "difficult" in terms of doing something he knew to be correct but would condemn the club which he did not want to do (like having an old faithful dog put to sleep because it was suffering sort of difficult decision) rather than a difficult point of law?
  22. You can imagine the conversation... "PFC" Can you put in an appeal for us on the VAT case please. "Lawyer" But you don't have much of a case, given client confidentiality can you explain more? "PFC" Okay, actually we are dead broke and can't pay any of our bills till we find someone stupid enough to buy the club "Lawyer" Would that include paying Lawyers fee's? "PFC" Yes "Lawyer" Um, I get back to you later shall I
  23. Thing is property developers are good at playing the long game on some sites. Just look at the money that was paid to SFC by someone (forget who) just to have first dibs on developing Jacksons Farm should it ever get designated for housing. I would imagine the scenario would be buy land around fratton park, make sure club goes bankrupt, leave it 4 or 5 years for fratton park to further decay, approach council for planning permission. If by then no sign of an active team being able to play there they would be hard pushed to refuse.
  24. Though we all expect more sales I wonder if they will bother as with their main assets gone there is little left they can sell and still field a team (there is a limit I believe on loans and not that many free's around unlike end of season when players are released). If they are hoping for some white knight to step in then selling more players may buy then a very short period of extra time to find him but any player sale income now is not going to make a dent in the money needed for the HMRC and gady and not having a decent team at the end of the transfer window is not going to make them attractive to a buyer who could then do little to help them avoid relegation.
  25. Where as now it will have to wait till Tuesday. Also how selling their keeper for £2M can 'stave' off financial ruin I don't know. It's almost like someone at the club is telling the papers that they will be okay if they sell him without the reporters being able to do their own sums.
